thanks, this makes it better than the amazon price.

Don't forget 5% through quidco too so that's under £35
#2
Thanks, I've placed an order for this despite not having bought an XBox360 yet. Is there a version of the console coming out between now and GHII that will have the HD-DVD drive built in? That would be sweeter than that child o' Axl Rose.

Good deal - I wonder if I should cancel my Amazon and order this.......

Microsoft wont be coming out with a pure HD-DVD version of the 360. Its going to remain an addon only. Marketing-wise, if they did make one, it would confuse most people (i.e. there would be a package above Xbox Premium, something like Xbox Ultimate) and they'd make it another 200GBP more expensive.

What is on the cards is a HDMI port becoming standard on the 360s. No timescale for that yet. It might be added when they switch to 65nm processors in the 360s from the 90nm ones in there now. While the smaller processors are cheaper to make and more fit on a wafer, dont expect to pay less.

At this point the HDMI port is still vapourware, all we have are some probably photoshopped photos.

They may have got onto the fact when they were receving orders and realised they have mispriced the game considering other retails are going to be selling it for £60 and over

Think quite a few people on the xbox forum have managed to order as well

Wonder is Choices honour misprices or just cancel all orders that were placed for the cheaper price?

Pre Order Price Promise

Here at ChoicesUK.com we are always trying to bring you great value and competitive prices. We may therefore reduce the price of Coming Soon titles prior to their release, but if you have already placed your order you will only pay the new lower price.

I don't know wether this means that they will or not, but they can't put the price up and expect you to pay it can they?
#21
Fingers crossed that they honour the £39.99 price.

Sounds promising for anyone that has ordered it then unless they have anything in their terms regarding misprice's

If you ordered at £35.99 they cannot make you pay the £65 price as they can either honour the price or contact you and tell you the price is wrong and ask if you want it at the correct price or if you want to cancel your order as companies are not allowed to charge you more without prior notice

Just had a look at their terms on the site

ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR ORDER

Any order for products that you place through this website constitutes an offer to buy those products at the price shown.

Such offer shall be deemed made to ChoicesUK.com and to HEC (Guernsey) (see Who We Are for further details). Either (but not both) of them may accept your entire order; or each of them may accept part of your order. An email will be sent to you confirming your order, but the offer constituted by your order is not accepted until either (i) a further email is sent to you confirming that the products have been despatched or (ii) the products are despatched (whichever is the earlier). There is no contract between you and ChoicesUK.com or you and HEC (Guernsey) until either of (i) or (ii) above has occurred. When at least one of (i) and (ii) has occurred, there will be a contract between you and whichever of ChoicesUK.com or HEC (Guernsey) has accepted your order. If (i) or (ii) above has occurred in respect of some only of the products you ordered, then there shall be a contract only in respect of those products.

According to their terms if they discover that the item is a misprice before it is despatched they will cancel your order and inform you of the correct price

On other platforms such as PS2 it's less than half price as standard therefore I wouldn't consider it as anything special to be honest.
#28
Absolute rubbish if they dont honour this. They blatently stated on the page it was reduced from £69.99 down to £39.99, with a discount of £30. I can understand a company mispricing an item not realising it came with a guitar but to list a discount rather than a misquoted price is completely different.

If they cant employ staff who can actually read and write to work on their website then they should be force to sell at those prices.

Whos to say these companies arent now mispricing deliberately to get traffic and then just cancelling orders?
#29
Thats a good point - if they try to cancel my order, I'll argue the point with them.

Did it not say the following? cannot remember if it did as I only had a quick look at the site when it showed the cheaper price

RRP - £69.99
Our price - £39.99 (saving £30)

You will have to wait and see if they contact people who have placed orders over the next couple of days as they clearly state on their site that if they notice a misprice before the order is despatched then they will cancel your order and inform you of the correct price so they don't have to honour any orders placed

Think most companies are starting to include more terms in the their T&C's so in the event thet they misprice an item they have more chance to get out of it

Yeah, think that was it.

My point is that even a complete idiot could see when they put the price up that a discount of £30 on a £70 item is quite a lot and it should have been verified there and then. I know we really dont have a leg to stand on legally as most companies will just go a head and cancel the order because their terms and conditions cover them.

I would imagine that 90% of misprices are that, and are genuine human error but something should be done if companies continue to do it. Its misadvertising.

£30 is a big price difference as it is not as if it was £5-£10 as some companies will try and undercut each other. At least the seemed to spot it quickly and change it unlike some companies who can let misprices go on for a couple of days

It seems a pain as soon even more companies will have the misprice section in their T&C's so they can get out of any orders placed if needed and customers cannot do anything as you will just be told to refer to section whatever in our terms

I saw an earlier post claiming there will be no 360 Xbox with a HD drive inside.

Is he/she mad???

For those worrying there will not be a 360 with a HD drive inside it makes no sense not to! Add ons do not work and Microsoft knows that, they will be up scaling the 360 in the future and expect an announcement soon after the PS3 launches.

Check out the name Zephyr in relation to Microsoft.
Rumour is there will be a Blu-ray add on too....oooooh!!!!

Also, bah, missed a good deal on the guitar!!
Next time maybe!!!
#34
How come people are still voting the deal as HOT as the price has now expired

Good luck to anyone that has ordered as from Choices T&C's they will probably invoke their misprice clause from their T&C's to get out of orders that have been placed when it was advertised at £39.99

Microsoft wont put a HD-DVD drive inside the Xbox 360, it would push the price too close the the PS3. They're trying to stay as far below as possible whilst still making operating profits, its a marketing decision.

Microsoft execs have said on many occasions that one of the biggest selling points of the 360 is the fact that its modular. What ever way the market goes all Microsoft have to do is release an add-on to cover it. It doesn't upset existing customers. It doesn't force people to buy stuff they wont use.

Grabbed one earlier for £35.99 but been mad busy since so not had time to say thanks to the OP....so, THANKS

Choices site definately had it as a £30 saving at £39.99, so hopefully will honour.

I do love this site :w00t:

Why do people insist on voting this HOT as it keeps on rising and the offer as finished and Choices probably will get out of all orders that have been placed

They may be voting hot to thank the OP for posting a good deal. Or it may be those who ordered at the cheaper price just getting around to thanking the OP......

I have a feeling Choices will honour the orders as I don't think this is a misprice. Many games retailers give discounts to pre-orders and they are the 2nd retailer to offer it at the £40 mark. On a practical note these are quite bulky and no retailer will want to have their storage space taken up by hundreds of these and maybe they have to order 500 to get a decent discount from the supplier.

The Choices offer at the time was clearly not a mis-price as mentioned above. Had confirmation here and am grateful to the OP for the heads up.
