XBOX 360 HD-DVD Drive - £19.96 Instore in Toys R Us

The Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player offers stunning video and immersive surround-sound audio, with six times higher resolution than DVD (up to1080p) through a component or VGA connection.

Innovative interactive content capabilities enable picture-in-picture commentary, scene selection and menu access - all while the movie is playing. Users can enjoy blockbuster HD-DVD releases, with more than 150 titles available by the end of 2006 from major movie studios including HBO, Paramount Pictures, StudioCanal, Universal Studios and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Only HD-DVD offers a "combo" disc: a DVD on one side allows playback on all existing DVD players, in your home or car; the other side is compatible with the HD-DVD Player.

The player works seamlessly with your Xbox 360 system, using the system's processing power and audio connections to deliver the highest possible video and sound quality. Setup is easy: just plug the HD-DVD Player into the USB port on your Xbox 360 console and jump in!

Seeing as Gamestation seem to be running out of these and they are selling for more than this in the For Sale forum then you can pick them up at Toys 'r' Us for less.

Had quite a few marked down from £39.99 to £19.96 in the Peterborough Store this morning.

Grimsby game and gamestation both have these for £17.99 still.

But this is still a good price considering hmv still have loads of hd-dvd's for £2.99 delivered.

Also don't forget that these easily hook up to a windows vista pc.

Good investment for the cost.

Got one (drive) and a bunch of cheap films (Matrix trilogy, Bourne movies, Heroes S1, King Kong, Serenity, 300) watched them all then sold the lot to my local Grainger Games in Newcastle for almost half what I paid. So I got to watch ton's of HD movies for only about a quid a disc. :)

The latest version of PowerDVD will support Blu-Ray and HD-DVD Playback. Your hardware needs to be pretty good tho TBH as outputting at 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 can be quite demanding.

i'll say it as no one else has yet....VHS :w00t:

Great external drive for all these non-optical drive netbooks that we are seeing everywhere now.

And allow me to retort.....

Blade Runner HD-dvd £2.99 delivered from HMV.

Blade Runner Blu-Ray £17.99 delivered from Play.com :whistling:

I have a blu ray player, but i have 13 HD-DVD's and no blu ray discs.

Why choose 1 format when it's actually cheaper to have both.

I think they removed HD-DVD playback from the latest PowerDVD, but with a little bit of jiggery pokery, it can be easily added back.
Can someone else possibly confirm this?

The XBox HD DVD player is not officially supported in Windows XP.
#24
Best thing to use to play them on Pc is either Powerdvd v7 (which people have said already) and Arcsoft Media Theatre, I prefer Arcsoft (plays Lastest blu-ray too) as i rip the Movies to my Hdd and watch them all off there.
#25

a basic dual core with an ATI HD3xxx graphics card or the new onboard ATI chipset or onboard Nvidia 8200 chipset and you are good to go.

single core will struggle however
