XBOX 360 HD-DVD Drive - £9.99 Instore in Toys R Us !

£9.99 @ Toys R Us
Yeah yeah, it's a dead format and all that, but for £9.99 it's a bargain to then be able to pick up the back catalogue of HD-DVD movies. Saw it in the Toys R Us in Shirley, Solihull. Read More

Nice price for this..... my mind freaks, when i think back to how HARD it was to secure me 1 of these at launch and paid £129.99 at toys r us with king kong!
Now i managed to get the asda, sony blu-ray player with the 5 movies for £143 odds, and i am hoping that it doesnt go the way of the laserdisc/vcd!
#8
Looks good, I will check this out tomorrow
#9

Ooh yeah, good question! In the retail one you do, no idea about this. Didn't see it in Basildon TRU but that was coz I was distracted by Tiger Woods 08 on the 360 for £4.95 (which I would have posted if they actually found the poxy DVD for it).

The 300+ back catalogue. You can still get a lot of them cheap and they are equal to bluray.

Cheers OP, will check the Doncaster/Sheffield stores tomorrow and see if there are any left.

Already have one but a tenner for a back up isnt too bad at all.

You can play vanilla DVD films on this too - quieter than the internal DVD and saves a bit of wear and tear. Plus if you have a netbook type PC you can use this as an external DVD drive as it is ooosb.

Yep i might pick up another just to use with my dell mini 9, as then means i dont have to unplug the 360 on everytime.

Great for external drives on Netbooks (thats what I bought mine for). Can be used similarly as an external DVD on all PC's / Laptops.

No. I have one and a 360 (Jasper version) and it is quieter without a shadow of a doubt.

in some respects better and some worse
however i would only bother as a backup dvd drive:-
- it will be harder and harder to get any movies
- no new movies
- i have a dedicated blu ray player now anyway
- xbox is too noisy for movies
but for 9.99 its not a bad as a backup drive and if you get the remote then for some it may be worth it (for those who are dim that means "for some")

No point for you then, why come into this thread?

It took two updates for bluray to get to the stage hd dvd were at when it launched.
Apart from capacity and studio support, hd dvd was the better choice (imo of course)

Of course.
If you are looking for a remote for the 360, then this is a no brainer.

Plays DVDs too. Some dont play on the normal xbox drive so im convinced.

And HD DVD did actually have BETTER studio support at one time, with Paramount and Warner on board.

It was the consumers choice too.

Even though HD-DVD isn't being made any more. Just look at the prices of HD-DVD discs, that speaks for it self.
