Why not disable the "Buy" button then on HMV, thats what they normally do !
#6
HMV in Liverpool had stock the other day as the phoned me to say they had a delivery and one was put aside for my pre-order but told them I already had one so they were putting onsale in the shop

Stocks are still very limited on the drive, just shows how Microsoft could have done a better launch in providing more units

so they can take your money?
#8
They dont take money until it's shipped.......
#9
By submitting your order you are accepting the terms and conditions of the hmv website.

Your credit card will only be debited on shipment of your order.
#10
I've ordered it anyway - you never know......
#11
Just to note....

You can check on the progress of your order at any time in the 'My Account'
section of our website.

Please note, this email does not act as a contract between HMV Guernsey and you;
that only happens when we charge your credit card and your goods are despatched.
As soon as your order is on its way, we'll e-mail confirmation to let you know
you'll be receiving your items very soon.
#12
Called HMV, they dont have them in stock. Was also told there is a back order of over 2000, he did say though that they will have an update on stock availability from the supplier in 7-10days
#13
That will do :)

Don't forget - there is a £5 voucher you can use in the voucher section (the one above doesnt work) - plus you get a remote control & DVD :)

I can honestly say HMV are the most useless online store I've ever dealt with. They have let me down countless times. Not only with the Wii (which completley messed up and lied to me about) but with DVDs and games that have been available readily in the shops too!

I ordered the DS web browser a few months ago off their site. After a wait of 4 weeks (bearing in mind I could have just walked into the HMV shop and picked it up) I decided to cancel. Ordered from Play and got it within 2 days.

They continue to be an absolute travesty of an online shop. I' vouch everyone to think twice about ordering from them.

HMV are so bad

just got the email to say my order has been stoped beacause of payment problems even thoe it was taken from my bank hmm now they say i can re order but i need the money back and the item is no longer on there web site

i was then told that they did not have the amount to cover the orders from befor xmas never mind the new ones so

why put this back on the site then ffs

sorry for the rant scooter :(
#19
I agree, I avoided HMV completely this Christmas.

I've had a Xbox/PS2 wheel on order since last August!

I could cancel quite easily, but it was only £3.99 & showing in stock when I ordered it, so now It's got to the stage where I'm curious to see how long it takes them to admit they can't get it. :whistling:
#20
I had to cancel all my orders which I placed at the start of December even though they were all in stock when I ordered but their was no chance they would have been delivered from christmas. I ended up phoning HMV online and after waiting on the line for 17 minutes I was told by the person that i could always cancel my order and get them from somewhere else as we have not charged you yet.

Think HMV shot themselves in the foot running up to and during the christmas period

HMV are the worst online retailer I have dealt with. I've had to contact them on numerous occasions for all sorts of problems.

The first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt as they were moving warehouses and had all sorts of problems. Things haven't improved and I only ever order off them based on a healthy discount.
#27
I find HMV good, their customer service and returns was helpful. They even refund me the delivery charges.
It's when HMV have no stock on items, they take quite a long time for them get more stock. I ordered Animal Crossing: Wild World, took them a month to ship mine at a discounted price.
#28
really bad but they do answer the phones, they said they will give king kong providing it was ordered at the time which it was and if they dont they will send a copy out!
#29
It comes with a official 360 remote too.
#30
but if it doesnt i will sue them for misrep!
and falsely advertising goods under sale of goods act 1979

i thought it stated that king kong was part of a limited promotion, if all the stock has gone and people have not got the disk then they can say quite rightly that all of the promotion stock has gone.

internet shops do this sort of thing all the time, stating a sale item was part of limited stock when you order it and the item is out of stock for the sale price, yet the item is in stock 1 day later on the website at full price. funny enough that it was normally either play.com or hmv who do this trick the most.

the last time being when i ordered some hd dvd's they were advertised at certain prices, great big prices splashed all over that section of the website, no mention of a sale. purchased superman returns for £16.99 and mission impossible trilogy for £33.99 both on HD DVD, used the £5 off code for orders over £35 and went through quidco. oddly i was billed £22.99 for superman returns, several phone calls later i cancelled superman returns and kept mission impossible box set which i should now be charged £28.99 and get quidco cash back.

the item is shown as delivery 3-5 days yet i am still waiting for my order from over 2 weeks ago.

unless items are vastly cheaper on the HIV website, i wont be touching them again, and that after a great xmas deal of the day promotion which got me back using them.

I'd seriously think twice about buying one of these right now. Blu Ray is now the number 1 format in both sales and dollar revenue in the US, with the impending PS3 release in Europe the gap will only increase. Universal have now officially denied that Spielberg's movies are heading to HD DVD. Hold onto your money and see how the next few months pan out otherwise you could end up with an expensive paper weight.

weird, a retailer with no affiliates with sony or toshiba shows the complete opposite.

and for proof that hd is the number 1 selling format between the 2

why not hold on for 4 or 5 months if you were thinking about getting a ps3? it may come with a smaller unit, more sockets, quieter fan, compatibility with older titles, you wouldnt want a super large paper weight would you?

if you want it, be it the hd dvd player, the ps3 or what ever, if you have earned your money, you have earned your choice on what to buy.
#34
tbh i dont mind getiing the drive as im only paying £50 as the rest has been reduced via my e voucher i bought when i had a l6 which i sold so if i dont like it i can sell it!
#35
I loved some of the HMV deal of the days, but they are too unreliable.
Last year they werent bad for games on occasion, but basically if you order, and it comes up "on special order" i just cancel and try someone else. Might be a pound or two dearer, but you dont have a month's wait.

I wouldnt bother with either of the new formats yet, because its glaringly obvious no-one cares about the two.
If it comes down to which console sells better, and becomes the media hub, or whatever they intended the consoles to be, then the winner wont be decided on the HD disc formats.
Hell i could guarantee, if PS3 supported DivX then blu-ray would win.
Same for the 360.
People dont want to pay £130 for a 360 add-on to let you play a select few movies they have released on HD-DVD. Same as price is a limiting factor for the PS3.

Great News

Got my Hd-DVD player today.

Includes official remote, but no KK !

Quick phone call (to a very nice & rather tasty sounding lady), and she said that there had been a problem with the supply of the KK HD DVD's, so she has put an order for one through for me FOC.

She said it wont be here within the next 3-5 days, but will follow shortly - what more can i ask for? I ordered it when it was out of stock, so no worries from me :)

I asked if they offered alternative HD-DVD's, but a quick check with the manager confirmed that it was KK only.

Top marks to HMV :)
