should it not be less than £10? Say it costs eg £40 in currys, then should you not get 10% of the difference in price? eg £10 - £3 = £7...

Hot anyways.

How in the world u find a Currys with one?
#3
How did u prove to currys that it was only £9.99 at Toys R Us?

now a question from me what do i need to have for my tv to view hd dvd at the highest possible solution?
#6
Getting Currys to price match is a pain in the back side, not really worth the effort, if your there give it a try but if not I wouldn't bother making a special journey. Hot IF you can get one.

i got this really nice guy and the counter, he didnt know what the price was and said it will prob be £2 or something(joke) then he was like wow £30!! i wasnt expecting that! so i told him it was £10 in toys r us he checked with the manager and agree to sell for 9.99!

Well first off to use the drive you need an Xbox and a high definition TV and a HD-DVD if you have all those your good to go. As for connections HDMI or component are both capable of high def.
#9
PC World price this at £14.97 though stock mostly doesn't exist.

Currys price this at £29.33 and a number of stores still have stock.

YMMV

They use the old "manager discression" excuse for not price matching most of the time, you must be lucky to have staff that are helpful

Or a PC.....

Correct but the original question specified a TV, you could connect the PC to the TV via VGA, DVI or HDMI which would work just as well though.

now i need some hd dvds!!

Or a PC with a HDMI output with a USB port to connect the HD-DVD drive to. Also need updated Microsoft drivers and DVD player software that supports HD

Im going to try tomorrow and get one of these. Wish me luck!

Though I'm heat nutural. I really dont think we should reward stores with lame (especially DSG!) price matching schemes.

They are litrally a marketing gimmick to build false confidence in idiots who are too lazy to look elsewhere. PC World for instance argue to DEATH over any discount. Christ, my mother wanted to buy a router. She works for the NHS, DSG is supposidly a big supporter of the NHSdiscount scheme - they suggested we 'leave' - over a silly 5-7 discount!

tbh, for the sake of a pound. Stick with a reputable dealer imo. *

*My two pence, agree or otherwise

Although the format is indeed dead, there are still a few hundred HD-DVDs which are being sold very cheaply (£3 I think from hmv).

Or you could take it apart and make a laser :w00t:

Where abouts are you? I went to Toys R Us in Cribbs Causeway yesterday, and they didn't have any in stock, I looked in curries too, couldn't see any :S

Why would anyone who doesnt want one be looking at this?
#24
If anybody is able to find this, would they be able to get me one, I'll pay postage, price, and a little extra for the troubles, been looking for one for a while, but anything over £20, seems a bit expensive :P

Thanks, Gazr

nostalgia :-D
or...
http://kotaku.com/359465/you-can-still-use-that-xbox-360-hd-dvd-player-for-other-things

but seriously though its perhaps handy as a spare drive, if you get the remote then it may be worth it for some, you can use it on a pc

Apart from the "films for £3" kind of response, there are other reasons...

# It's actually a good price for only the media remote included in the package... backlit buttons, hmmmm, lights.

# I also occasionally use the HD-DVD drive as an external USB DVD drive on the wife's UMPC which doesn't have an internal drive. Definitely not while being UM ;-) but it's the perfect tool for loading on a fresh O/S, or booting up diagnostic tools to repair / backup.

So there's 2 good reasons why this is a hot deal at £10...despite the usual HD-DVD angle.

And it's also good as a door stop when not in use as an external USB DVD drive or HD-DVD player! :w00t:
#27
Ah, i see the drive may have some other uses, sorry for my ignorance. bargain indeed.
#28
Sweeten16 , was it in a glasgow store you got this ?
