Nice price.

I can never get any codes to work any of the DSG sites for some odd reason but may be worth trying 10APR07 for a tenner off (may be a hundred min spend though so if it doesn't work try adding some batteries or the like) & PRFREEDEL to save the £3.99 delivery charge.
#3
10APR07 is for purchases over £250.

Yes, great price but I would wait another couple of months. Retailers know that from the months of late May to late August sales of games consoles, games and accesories drop sharply.

So, I reckon that if you can hold out until the summer you'll get a sharper deal from the likes of DSG.
#5
I think I'll wait a bit longer to see if the price comes down any more. Does anyone know if you need a Hard Drive in your XBox 360 for the HD-DVD to work? or will it work with the core system?

Thanks for posting-voted hot

I haven't personally used the HD dvd player but i can't see why the harddrive would be necessary, as it plays the films through the dvd and not a memory storage device.

So you should be ok watching films from your core system. :)

Good post by the way, i was minutes away from posting the same deal but you beat me to it, well done for the quick spot and letting everyone know about it. voted hot

Don't forget another 5% cashback if you pay with your Egg card :)

That's a great price for HD DVD.

Nice find & Voted Hot, some great titles heading for the format (can't wait for the Matrix Boxset).

It seems with those 70 new HD DVD titles announced last week & Samsung now joining the HD DVD camp, this format battle is far from over. :)

I bought one of these when they came out. Only used it once. Seemed like a good idea at the time though. lol

I thought Samsung were blue ray? If so those 70 movies won't be any use, is that correct?

They were, but last week they announced their decision to back HD DVD as well. :)

The "70" HD DVD titles due before July were announced on the formats site. :-D

Hope that helps.

so is it worth getting now?
dont have a hd tv yet but looks a good price
#15
I got one just after Xmas and it has been a great addition to my Home AV setup. Disks can be gotten online for around £10, way cheaper than the £25 to £30 for some titles in retail outlets.

It is also easy to hook up to your PC so if you already have a Media Centre PC then this will slip into your setup very nicely.
#16
What playback software are you using on the PC please :)

Voted HOT!!

This isn't a HD DVD recorder, it can only play discs not burn them. You can download films (hopefully legally?!) and watch them but you wouldn't need this to do so.

The AACS copy protection has been cracked for HD DVD, meaning they can be ripped now. You'll need around 25gb of free harddisk space, though.

There is a version of AnyDVD which does what you need ;)
#28
the version of any dvd is that free?
#29
what hd disks does the xbox 360 hd play just region free disks or blank discs?
#30
Region coding has not been used so far on HD DVD disks, so this drive will play them all (I believe). Not sure what the point of playing Blank disks would be?????
#31
i meant playing hd-r disks

I use one of these with my PC, very easy to set up with XP media, Cyberlink PowerDVD works a treat, it's outstanding value considering the high def ability, it's pretty quiet and being an external drive it has it's own power supply & doesn't contrbute to heat in my rig.

The limitations with the sound some complain of with this unit only apply when using it with the XBox 360 (it only currently supports the 640kbps Dolby Digital - although 1500kbps DTS sound is coming).
When used with a PC the sound is entirely a matter of the hardware & software you use in your PC.

It'll also play CDs & regular DVDs for those wanting to use it as a ROM device.

Brilliant little device.......even the 'colour scheme' (white, silver & grey) goes with my PC nicely.
