I know this is a lot higher pricing than everyone hoped it would be released at (rrp being 129.99)

Kinect

"This is a pivotal moment that will carry with it a wave of change, the ripples of which will reach far beyond videogames" - Steven Spielberg

Previously code-named "Project Natal," the slim black Kinect sensor plugs directly into any Xbox 360. Despite its small size, the Kinect device contains a camera, audio sensors, and motion-sensing technology that tracks 48 points of movement on the human body. It has the ability to recognize faces and voices.

With Kinect, game-players no longer need to memorize different commands for a hand-held control. You are the controller, simply step in front of the sensor and Kinect sees you move, hears your voice and recognizes your face.

Kinect brings games and entertainment to life in extraordinary new ways - no controller required. Easy to use and instantly fun, Kinect gets everyone off the sofa moving, laughing and cheering. See a ball? Kick it. Control an HD movie with a wave of the hand. Want to join a friend in the fun? Simply jump in. With Kinect, technology evaporates, letting the natural magic in all of us shine. And the best part is Kinect works with every Xbox 360.

With the Kinect sensor, you can experience gaming like never before. Easy to use and fun for everyone, the Kinect sensor utilizes revolutionary full-body tracking to put you in the center of the fun. This amazing new technology allows the sensor to recognize your body and mirror your movements in the game, making you the controller. The sensor is compatible with every Xbox 360 and comes with a Kinect game. With Kinect Xbox 360 now has the best controller ever made - you.

You are the Controller - Introducing Kinect, a revolutionary new way to play: no controller required! See a ball? Kick it, hit it, trap it or catch it. Unlike 2D cameras and controllers, Kinect tracks your full body movement in 3D, while responding to commands, directions, even a difference of emotion in your voice.

Personalised Play - Kinect provides an in-game experience in which the player's face and voice are recognised. Greet and speak to characters in the game, or simply step into view of the sensor to log into Xbox LIVE and connect with friends. Only Kinect is smart enough to remember voices and faces. Fun has never been so personalised.

Off-The-Couch Play - Kinect provides gameplay that gets you off the couch, on your feet and in the fun. Each Kinect experience is designed to get players moving, laughing, cheering and playing together. Kinect makes social gaming off-the-couch fun.

Controller-free gaming and entertainment. Kinect provides a whole new way to play - no controller required. It uses a sensor to track your body movement and recognise your face, even listen to your voice. If you know how to move your hands, shake your hips, or speak, you and your friends will be able to jump instantly into any Kinect experience.

Full-body play. Kinect provides a new way to play where you use all parts of your body - head, hands, feet and torso. With controller-free gaming you don't just control the superhero, you are the superhero. Full-body tracking allows the Kinect sensor to capture every move, from head to toe, to give players a full-body gaming experience.

Easy-to-play fun. Kinect makes sharing in the fun a snap. Talk or watch a movie in the same living room or on the other side of the world - no headset, no keyboard and no controllers required. It's just you, your friends, your family and a whole new way to play.

Control your Xbox 360 with a single gesture or wave of the hand

Get off the sofa and into the game by using your body as the controller

Connect with friends and family with easy and interactive gameplay, video chat and more (requires Xbox LIVE Gold membership)

Revolutionary technology that includes body recognition.

lol, overpriced by about £80 !!!
#2
ps3 move is roughly £40 for the motion controller and £30 for the navigation controller, effectively this can be equated to 4 controllers

so i could see why they priced it as such (i always thought it'd be around £80 though!)

differnce is ps3 move is a wii-mote with a kids ball pond ball glued on the end of it.

But yeah kinect is a rip off for people who are "casual gamers" and will be lured into paying the price. Im glad i play to win and use a controller cause being a casual gamer seems alot more expensive with wii balance boards, motion controllers and all the rest of it.

never will you replace my trusty controller! If i wanted to exercise i would go outside and play football or something, i play games to be lazy and relax.

Irrespective of the price of the Playstation stuff it's still far too expensive when it's the same price as a whole console, and also more expensive than a Wii. If you are into this sort of thing and already own an Xbox I can't see why you would buy Kinect over a Wii.
#5
I can't tell if OP is joking or serious.
#6
Mods expire this, the official price hasnt even been announced yet, so the deal cannot even exist.
#7
the possibilities of this are huge but they should be selling it at cost for it to have any chance of taking off, but its microsoft so no chance and will prob fail, it could be a tool for all games not just gimmicky ones and work alongside using a normal controller, nothing like the wii far better piece of kit
#8
Whether this is the price or not, it's fairly reasonable given that you're set to go for anything 2 player. With Move you're looking at buying two controllers and two sub-controllers at least.
#9
Ouch...
#10
am thought this was ging to be around the 60-70 pound mark :(
#11
As explained already, official price hasnt been announced yet. This is just a guide price.
#12
If this is the true price it won't even stand a chance on the market, only a few serious hard hard hard hard hard core gamers with over 100,000 gs would buy it.
If its not £60-£85 mark, no chance of sales.
But I will wait for the official price.

The "hard hard hard hard hard core" gamers wouldnt even think of buying it. Its designed to be appealing to those under the age of 5 or those with kids under the age of 5 i.e. families.

Microsoft wont even touch Nintendo's share of the family gamer market with this gimmick. PS Move might make a small dent, but its still very doubtful considering very little people actually have PS3's compared to the rest of the market.

But who knows.

#15
Would never beat a controller for me.
#16
I'll wait 'till it's £15 and pop it next to my HDDVD Drive.

Im not voting, but this is dead in the water (as is the Move).
#17
Realistically, how many of us have enough clear space in the front of their TV's to jump up and down controlling the games. Looks fun in a high ceiling American open plan apartment like in the demos. But back in the real world!
#18
Same with the game prices, amazon have the listed games cheaper than shopto but even shopto state pricing is only a guide and not the official release price which if cheaper they will obviously honour.

Not necessarily. The sub-controller isn't a requirement at all, as it can be substituted by the traditional pad. Many of the simpler games like TV-Party and the sports games will also work with just one Move controller and the camera.
#20
You can buy an XBOX 360 cheaper than this - how can this be more expensive than the actual console? Insane!

Apparently it cannot be used sitting down?

By the way, love the Robocop picture, or should I say "I liiiiiiiiiiiiiike it" :w00t:

Because this isn't the price... for a start. NOBODY knows the price apart from MS right now, everyone else is guessing!

Regardless of price, this will still sell like hot cakes. The current gen of consoles is set to be here for another 5 years, this is effectively the "next gen" and MS have said many times this won't replace the traditional controller in every game, it will complement it!.

The actual consoles are so cheap because they're 5 years old. None of us currently know what components are in kinect, or the amount of R&D hours gone into it. The Xbox has been profitable for a long time now, everyone knows that consoles are initially sold at a loss. PS3 has only just tipped into profitability!

Even so, this is a competitive price against PS Move. 2 people to play kinect? Maybe £120. 2 people to play move? £50 camera+controller, £40 another controller, £60 for 2 subcontrollers = £150.

agree with the first point, trying to have a peice fo the nintendo pie but i dont think it really applies to move, even though they have casual games they also include the hardcore games plus the ps3 is only a couple of million sales behind the xbox and is catching up fast. the xbox doesnt have double the install base over the ps3 like it used to have.

i doubt that if they price it reasonably (around £50) then yes it will sell for the casual 360 owners (not many as its a console for core gamers), can you really see the guys that play gears/halo/mass effect using this?

i know this price is an estimate, but it cant be far off, so its quite a lot to pay for somthing to compliment the controller.

Even Shoptos CEO has come out stating that its way overpriced, and that the preorder takeup is very low.

I wouldnt trust or listen to a word that man says. How can you listen to a ma with a background like his.

No prices even confirmed by Microsoft so where did he get his from.

Will put my life savings on a RRP of £99.99

I love how you say serious gamer, play to win etc. and then go on about crappy controllers.

Irony much?

i dont see the irony in what i said, hard core gamers will play with a traditional controller, none of this wave your arms round like your having a seizure cr*p.

irony would be me saying im a hard core gamer and i play to win and therefore require a standard controller to play games such as modern warefare etc.
but i love playing social family games where it the taking part that counts.

That sir would be irony.

I notice that you copied the description from ShopTo's website, but you failed to include the most important part of the description,
