OK stupid question time. What's the difference between gold and silver plz?
banned#2
silver = pointless, and free. gives access to friends lists, chat, xbox marketplace etc.

gold = the one you need to play online.

Like I said, everyone gets silver, and its ****! :)

hmm there was a second hand wireless adaptor in cash generator earlier this week for £29.99, does it matter at all if I use a second hand one? there's no link to membership/console/networkadaptor? i'm guessing not!

I must say I have only just set up xbox live etc and I have just started using TVersity. The combination works flawlessly with 200mbps homeplugs on everything other than video podcasts which seem to still suffer from stuttering. I'm not too sure if I will be able to overcome this, but HD contnet from a local drive using 200mbps is fine. I am not too sure how the official network adapter actually performs, but most people to rate it but normally find it too expensive.

This offer will hopefully mean that is not the case anymore.

gold is about £28. So thsi would make the wireless adapter £41. Nothing special but good nonetheless.

I was hoping a post like that would come along. I have gone down the homeplug route and am on 1 month's trial. How do I get gold for £28.00 as I can't imagine xbox without gold.

If you are paying RRP prices then a good deal, if you look in the right places its a nothing special deal. Cool for me.

Do tell what the right places are. I want one for my husband for Xmas, there's no way I'm having a network cable spread out all over the place, and I have a wireless router.

Either as I have posted from Currys for £69.00, it really is no more than plugging it into back of xbox 360 and then using xbox itself to help add itself to your network. Quick easy and very neat.

Below is how I did it, and it's better, although not quite as neat. Speed is much better though and if you want to take full advantage of xbox 360 I would recommend as below.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/280432/zyxel-pla-401-twin-pack-powerline-h/

The above is really just plug and play, and the 200mbps rather than slightly cheaper 85mbps available will allow for High Def content to be shown of xbox without trouble. I am using TVersity which is free, easy and works allowing your xbox to be a pretty reasonable media centre, playing mp3's, videos, displaying photos and much more.

http://tversity.com/

Tversity overcomes Microsoft's unwillingness to allow various formats to be played. Tversity does just that by transcoding them 'on the fly'. Very clever indeed.

I am no expert but if you need help setting up TVersity I am willing to help via PM, but it's not too difficult.

Then

Take the free 1 months subscription that you will be offered from within the xbox if you haven't already done so.

Now buy this

http://buygamingcodes.com/5-13-month-codes

You will get a email with a code that will give you 13 months rather than 12. This will be added to your free 1 month trial from Microsoft, so 14 months total. The website says it can take up to 48 hours for code, but I got mine within 6 hours. I paid by Paypal just in case.

Total price £77.00 but better kit than my original offer from Currys here.

No wires as you requested other than network cable running from homeplug unit to wireless router, and network cable from xbox to 2nd homeplug. Certainly not an eyesore at all. The real beauty of the homeplug route is that for another £25 you can add a laptop etc to your network and achieve much faster networking than conventional wireless network.

Go for it, you will not regret it.

Good deal :)

As Gary-rip says - its a good deal - not spectacular, but good if you need to buy both items.......

(Jasper is upto £30 now)

Are these xbox live codes that are sent via email genuine ?
I mean is it possible that after a few month the number could get blocked or blacklisted.
I have no understanding of xbox consoles so sorry if i'm talking rubbish.

what is so much better about having a 360 wireless adaptor than a wireless router or wired ethernet throughout your house.
#16
Concerning your now edited post about using the plugs on different floors -

Your homeplugs should work throughout the house from the same consumer unit. It should'nt matter what floor you are on sir :)

Heat and repped :)

Tesco have a Zoom wireless bridge for £30, got one today but have not set it up yet

You still need the wireless router, this allows the 360 to actually pickup the signal. They're horrendously priced and should have been integrated into the console by now. It's insane given the number of revisions of the hardware i've seen.

I have homeplugs and they dont like multi way extension leads - is this not the case anymore?
Would like to know as I've just got myself an Xbox360 (Damn HUKD...) but its slotted into a unit with PS3,Wii,TV,DVD,HTPC etc etc that is served by a multi way extension lead so wireless will be better for me wont it? (already wireless on wii,ps3,pc etc) or will these newer homeplugs work now?
Before you say use a cable - I cant be arsed to run one:thumbsup:

I found that the homeplugs dont like the surge protector type extension leads, it really interferes with the bandwith, but get a cheap extension with no protection and they work like a dream. Although I use mine for the ps3 as opposed to my xbox360, I wouldnt even dream of plugging the 360 into the network when ps3 online is free :)
