Xbox 360 'N' Wireless Adapter -£49.00 ASDA Instore

£49.00 @ George (Asda George)
I was in ASDA earlier and saw this, which I thought was not out yet, but apparently it is! :P http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/05/xbox-360-802-11n-adapter-rebirths-on-costco-site-ships-november/ … Read More

I have looked around on the UK websites and cannot see it on any of them, I have checked Gameplay, Play or Amazon! But they do have the original wireless adapter for £45-55, so this seems very good at just £49!

What is the difference between this adapter and the old ones?

Really tempted to get one of these and sell my one for £30ish.

Has anyone got one, and i know they should but do they improve connection?

The white one is wireless g signal strength, this is wireless N. Basically a stronger and more reliable connection.

You need to have an N router, im only aware of the BT home hub and the new virgin routers that are wireless N, obviously you can buy them outright but those are the two company supplying customers inclusive of contracts.

Can you still use one of these, even if you haven't got a N router (i.e. will it still work with wireless G)?

It will work but it wont improve performance.

Although not 100% sure that it wont improve performance, it wont give you max performance sounds right

I've just contacted that asda and got the details of the item so you can check your local stores. The Item Number is 3748469, and the barcode number is 88222403569. Hope this helps, and thanks to the OP x

I disable the n function on my dlink dir-655 gigabit router because it makes the connection less stable (but faster when it's enabled).
#11
But not really a hot deal is it?

£50 for a Wireless N use adaptor

it actually should improve performance. If you have a g router and a g dongle, you will not get 54mb a lot of the time unless they're sitting beside eachother. If you have an n dongle and g router you should get the full 54g. You won't get n performance but you will get the full 54g that you're meant to.

its a pity M$ didnt drop the 'old versions price and make this more reasonable (IMO)

OP. Did you buy one, or just see them on the shelves?

Reason I ask is that when you put the product number (in post 10, above) in the ASDA website it just shows the regular wireless adapter.

http://direct.asda.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Wireless-Networking-Adaptor/003748469,default,pd.html

I've got a feeling they've just put the product cards (which is what they look like in you pic, rather than the actual item) against the wrong shelf-edge-label, and out too early.

i was under the impression that the white adaptors were only a/b range?? They are very old now and its about time microsoft brought a newer version to keep up with the market.

OK thanks good to know:thumbsup:

I wrote the post then thought i best add on to that as it should still improve but just not to max potential
