Xbox 360 Official 120Gb Hard Drive (Reduced) £48.00 Delievered

Comes with 12 month warranty

USED.

----------------------

This will not come with a transfer kit of any kind. If you need one then you can phone MS and they will send you one for free within about 2 weeks. Or you can try printing out the following PDF and send that off via snail mail...

http://preview.tinyurl.com/6n2y3c

Will probably take a bit longer but still free if you don't fancy talking to someone on the phone (^_^)

Thanks - Cuddy for the smiley little face.

USED but still a good price..

Good find Adam2050, HOT..!
#3
Heat added. A "used" HDD doesn't matter lol, as long as it works it's fine.
#4
Very hot. I bought a 60GB drive for about the same price a few months ago.

Good find. I have a 20gb HDD so getting this would be an upgrade and a half; question , is there any way to transport my saved data on my 20GB HDD onto the 120GB HDD?

You can order the cable from Microsoft there is a form somewhere.

Other option is memory card.

Following on from Joshdee's question..... any idea if the used one's come with a working transfer cable?!

No they won't. But as I said there is a form to order one on this forum.

Cold, bought one from there before and it was corrupt!

Send it back get a refund? Doesn't make the deal cold if you didn't take it back?

I hope someone comes along and shows you how to fill it in properly.

XboxGuru where are you?

haven't they been this price for a while? Plus there's been a few of brand new ones for around the £30 mark in previous months

When I got mine, I didn't use the form, I just rang Microsoft support on 0800 587 1102 and they took a few details (inc my Xbox serial number) and they sent me out a data migration kit in about 5 days. Much quicker than using the form.

Hope that helps.

HMV Mega sale too.
Not hot or cold from me as they are used. Most HDDs have a estimated life of about 5-10 years, and with second hand HDD's you don't know how much use they've had? Constant use will reduce the lifespan significantly
#18
Thanks guys i'll get that wire ASAP

Yeh there was that one that few people got. But its always hit and miss.

12 months warranty helps. And someone was talking about 3 years warranty under new EU laws.
#20
Thanks OP - good price, been looking out for a while and this is by far the cheapest I've seen (without driving around supermarkets, anyway).
And before anyone says it, yes, it's stupidly expensive for the hard drive size, but a great price for a legitimate Microsoft 12-month warranty product.
#21
Its a reasonable price for the moment but as E3 is going on at the moment and the way that digital distribution is going and the need for more space. I would wait for any news on bigger newer 360 drives that may be announced in the next few days

Yeh true enough, but your talking 6 months down the line with a hefty price tag to boot.

When released the 120GB HDD wasn't that much more than the 20GB one came out at. I could see them releasing a 300-500GB model for around £80-£100 in a few months time. They will definitely come up with something to increase digital storage as they ready the 360 for the next stage of it's development. MS are saying their new motion control means that they won't be doing Xbox 720 for a long while, hence they need to keep offering improvements for the 360.
#24
With all the content abot now, a bigger HDD is definatly needed, and will push the price of a 120GB down even more!
#25
daft laddie question - why can you not just disaasseble the enclosure and swap in any drive ?
#26
Wow - this must be the first Xbox hard drive offer-thread where somone hasn't complained about how expensive they are compared to normal hard drives.

Drives are mapped in away to consoles. You can do a few drives in here but you have to faff with firmware.

Well that form is for people who had a non-elite console and bought an elite. Send it off anyway if you like but it's a bit fraudulent.

If you phone them and say you bought a hard drive and want a transfer kit I think they'll send one free anyway. You don't need to lie about console serial numbers that way. Although I'm not sure they'd like it if you say you bought a USED hard drive, I don't think they actually ask.

I just went the memory card and redownloading route to transfer stuff because I didn't know if you phoned up they gave you one.

Until it doesn't work one day. And you lose irreplaceable data you can't backup (some save games can only be officially moved to a memory card, not copied). Not that save games are life and death documents you should keep in a fireproof safe, but do remember it's only the hardware that has the warranty, your data will be gone!

Saying that, I bought a used 120GB from cex a while back myself.

They were this price on cex recently, I remember checking for price comparison against a new 60GB bundled with extras at a similar price.

I have not seen them used or new around £30 ever. (edit: woah missed it http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/362176/hmv-games-sale-inc-120gb-360-hard-d/ iffy availability though)

With all the awesome new content announced at E3 and the noise it saves when you preload the games, i'd really like a 120 harddrive, but i'd want a new one. When did i miss this £30 HMV sale?! Gah

You can't according to MS's terms of use of your console, so they could ban you from Live IF they could detect that you had done it. And it is a bit of hassle, and only works for very particular drives and you still can't get it to work as over 120GB even if it's a drive bigger than that.

PS3 takes standard drives. 360 costs a lot less but they make you use their official expensive drives.

Stupid post. Completely irrelevant, especially as CEX give you a warranty on their Xbox HDDs, and I would imagine you are entitled to return within 28 days anyway!

Yep, I was one of the very lucky ones that got one for £30 in HMV! Funny thing is, Tunbridge Wells, where I got mine only got theirs on stock a couple of weeks after the sale had started!

this looks like a great deal, but I have a slight concern. if they're second hand, how are you to know that the drive inside hasn't been made from a third party drive and using a cloned firmware as per the post by davedixson. I'm not aware of it happening so far, but using a drive with a cloned firmware could well seeing you being banned from xbox live, and you'd never know that you were even running one until it was too late and the banhammer had fallen.

what does everyone else think? a great deal if you're willing to take the gamble. perhaps someone could highlight if the drive has a warranty sticker or such like that would allow you to identify a flashed drive.

Well, only thing I can say would be the seals broken if they would of happened.Plus the lower drives have nothing written on them or 60Gb. This would have 120gb written on it and would be black.

Seal would probably be broken, but some people do manage without breaking it. Cex probably don't check very carefully, even though they supposely test everything (I've had cash off them without them testing my hardware very much before!) but you should check when you receive it and return it if you're suspicous.

I don't think anyone was ever actually definitely banned for using a cloned drive anyway, just for playing copied games etc, not that they ever tell people the exact reason of bans (would make it too easy for other people to avoid them while still doing dodgy stuff!). It's not even a very profitable scheme to make a fake drive to sell to cex since they only pay £24 cash for them right now.

Oh yeah plus the outside would look totally wrong, duh, just reread what you said there! They do scan the barcode and note the serial number and stuff anyway.
#38
Does anyone know if CeX stores will be the same price as online, or at least price match their own website? The site reckons there are a few in stock near me and I'd rather that than over t'internet so at least I can beat someone with it if it fails
#39
hadn't thought about the external casing! I thouight they all just said 'Xbox'. in order to have a 120Gb casing, you must have had the 120Gb drive in it, so what's the point of swapping it out for another drive.
#40
60Gb is also £35 delivered here - not sure if that's a reduced price but seems cheap and would be useful to people who bought an arcade with no HD?
