needs to be said that this will void warranty and Microsoft may not touch your console if a fault occurs.

Also useful when that RED ring of lights appear: ;-)

For £1.90 this will save me a few extra minutes, I'd become an expert at getting these off with nothing more than a simple kitchen knife and small flathead screwdriver though heh

Ordered!

Bought one of these from Ebay a few weeks ago to help fix a laser fault, very useful.

Will order one.
Thanks :)

Reading around it seems MS don't notice or don't care about people cracking up their consoles.

I suspect it's aimed at people who's console has died out of warranty for whatever reason and is not covered by the RROD extended warrenty (e.g dead dvd drive)

You'd have to be mad to even think about it though, Xbox is to unreliable to start messing around inside it, maybe when the warranty runs out i'll hack it.

i have been looking ages for TORX T8 Screwdriver and finally found one :) but evermind

good find, voted hot.

Great price!
I got ripped off when I bought a set like this for £4 in December (5 days before xmas though)
However I got it within 1 day and dealxtreme could never do that.

If you are modding/flashing your 360 you will save time and effort and prevent scratching of your 360 by using these tools.
At this price, its a bargain!

The only problem is the warranty sticker but apparently you can use a hairdryer to get it off without breaking it. You can even buy the warranty stickers off ebay.
#14
Got one of these, watch out - I sliced my thumb on the casting on it - make your you sandpaper the edges on it.

Its also made of very soft metal that bends, and I still slightly scuffed my casing..

Still better than nothing

guys the easiest and cheapest way to 'crack' open your console is to apply pressure pushing the console apart and gently press something sharp (small flat head) into the points... much easier and you won't slice your finger.

As for the warranty sticker same method applies and you'll be sure to not damage the sticker (pull the console apart from itself - sticker is only damaged when it's lifted off not slid sideways).. Anyway this is a good price no doubt but thought i'd just put my 2 cents in.

You can make one of these so easily by slicing up an old CD spindle. Google it.

I wonder why there isn't a PS3 version...
#18
Anyone know how I can make the small jet engine that appears to be inside my Xbox quieter?

look on "youtube" there are loads on there (even watercooled ones), people dont seem to rate the "whisper" replacement fans though.

There's no way to mod a PS3 as far as I know.

this is a standard item on deal extreme .. not really sold in many places besides ebay, so not really a 'deal'.

For that reason, cold from me. Otherwise ALL DX items are deals..

Thanks - it's the DVD drive that makes a racket - I can live with the fan noise. I'll have a butchers on youtube though...

Thanks, this could come in useful.

Anyone care to share some more experience re: the warranty sticker? The 360's reliablity is biggest thing stopping me from cracking it open as soon as it arrives at the door.
#24
The 360 opens without problems by using a precision (jewellers/watchmakers) screwdriver. Just press into each tab and slightly pull - it's impossible to mess-up the case unless you are totally cack-handed.
#25
cheers, ordered

You voted it cold because everything on DX is cheap useful stuff?

Its unbelievable the logic some people use on this website, undecipherable would probably be a more appropriate word

you wanna take a hair dryer to the sicker about 6-9 inches away and warm it up and slowly and carfully slide the sicker away (or if your more daring like i was and lift an edge up SLOWLY and do not increase the angle being peeled away by more than 15 degrees i managed to pull mine off with no problems) also have a piece of wax paper standing by to put it on while your working on your xbox:thinking:;-)
