For what you get (especially including a second Guitar) I would say that this is a good deal.

Although I would buy for PS3.

looks great although disapointing the bass guitar is wired when the rest isn't

Probably true, but having owned Rock Band it is a pain to store and the drum pads are too loud, and override the sound of the song/instruments.

Much prefer the GH setup.
#7
good game from what heard but what a rip off price!! I heard this was meant to be cheaper than rock band!!

I'd love to get this package, but there's something wrong when a game/controller package costs more than a games console.

Well this does have a second guitar, and they tend to cost about £40-50 separate. With the guitar, tis a good deal.

Is there are word about instrument compatibility? I want to get this, but if the drums don't work with Rock Band 2, I don't know if I'll bother.

Was announced at Leipzig that Sony have worked with all companies and made all instruments compatible with all games..... Inlcuding singstar mics. Not sure about 360 tho!

The Rock Band 2 drums have soft, velocity-sensitive pads too, just like the GH:WT drums.

I don't think a wired version is worth anything like that anymore, when you can buy a wireless guitar plus game in the high street for £50 (GH3).

It's the same for the 360, they are compatible both ways. See here.

Didn't think the PS3 GH3 Guitar worked with RockBand, due to the non-proprietory wireless dongle which is supplied with it?

EDIT - scrap that, it didn't apply to RB!

You're getting a lot of hardware for your money tho. The comparison to the games console is a little unfair since this is brand new whereas the 360 will have been out for 3 years this December and would have had the benefits of price reductions along the way. No doubt in 3 years time you'll be seeing this a lot cheaper too.

I'm in two minds to reserve this and flog my GH2 and GH3 guitars, seeing as I won't be needing them should I buy it :-D

See here for Inter-compatibility between instruments and games.
#16
Wow its coming out on PS2 cant believe it.
#17
Do people think that the 'free' guitar will be a genuine Guitar Hero guitar or a compatible guitar ?

Also, they call it a 'Bass' guitar but presumably it will also work as a normal 'Lead' guitar.
#18
Good price, but personally given the library of songs i think Rock Band is a better bet.
#19
rock band ftw

good game from what heard but what a rip off price!! I heard this was meant to be cheaper than rock band!!

dont forget this includes the game so its pretty much the same price as rockband
plus you get an extra guitar with this preorder so it works out better
#22
Have to agree that it is a rip off compared to the US. I picked up Rock Band in the US recently for $160, so just under 80ukp based on the exchange at the time. This I thought was about right for what you get, and there is little justification for it to be twice the price here.
#23
I recently paid £30 for GH3 (with Guitar) for my 360 from Amazon. No way I'd consider paying £150 for this.

Utter cack that the bass guitar is wired in this supposed wireless technology day and age.
#24
#25
Its also £69.99 with just the Guitar on Amazon.co.uk

They have bundles for PS3 and Wii at £149.99 and the bass on those is WIRELESS

PS2 bundle just £129.99

Hopefully it will be cheap, and have a price before my discount card runs out!

i think it is awful, the prices are way too high and if like me you have nobody to play with, its a waste.

these things should be half the price - but because you guys still buy these things, they will never think of reducing in future.

and for £150, the wired guitar better be free lol. ill stick to my GH3 PS3 thanks, best £30 ive ever spent.
#30
I still remember the day my (then) flatmate bought the original Guitar Hero. I thought it was great but questioned what he would do when the guitar broke and became a collectors item. I then bought GH:2 shortly after launch for £35 on a HMV deal I posted right here.

Fast forward and we're voting hot on a discounted game that still costs an astronomical £150. I truly think you have lost your minds.
#31
£150? Incredible.
#32
Voted cold as this will be much cheaper in the US; Another attempt at ripping of EU customers.

Although i have bought many Guitar Hero/Rock Band things, i think its all getting a little silly now. I'll have spent over £500 on rythm based games if i buy this, its just not worth it considering something like God of War costs £10.

Play.com wont be making much on these when the trade price is announced.

No wonder we're all in serious debt, this kind of credit culture borrowing fortunes to pay for £150 games! Put it in a savings account or better still give it to charity.

Rip off game

Game £40

The rest is some plastic from China, absolutely stupid.

HMV have got this up for £180 with the 'free' guitar. I'd stick to play.com as it will still work out cheaper.
#35
It's not "way cheaper in the US" at all. Quick check on EBGames and it's $190, which is £105. Add on tax (for most states) and consider that they don't get the extra guitar and our deal doesn't look so bad. Our wages are also higher over here too ;)

Lets all rate things on the sum of their parts! YAY!

I assume that your house is "just some bricks" then? And that your car is "just a pile of metal"?

This is a good price.

1.To all people stating that this is a lot cheaper in the US:
To get this same package from the US would cost ~£145 before postage (~£110 for the package + ~£35 for the wired bass guitar).
Due to the size of the package, you'd probably get hit for import duty too (import duty+VAT+handling - just over £25), whether it was marked "gift" or not.

2. To all people stating that it is £150 for lots of plastic, compared to £150 for the actual console:
Each of the 3 instruments are actual (2 of them wireless) Xbox 360 / PS3 controllers. These are not like the Wii, where you just clip a controller to the instrument.
These are also touch sensitive and are new technology.
Standard wireless 360 controllers sell for £25 - £35, these are not standard controllers.
It includes a mic worth at least £10.
Add to that the fact that Microsoft also make a loss on every console sold, hoping that they will re-coup any of the console sales losses in the games / peripherals bought afterwards.

3. To all people stating that it is a **** game:
Then why bother entering the thread?

Voting this 'Cold' without taking the above into account is just plain stupid.

What makes this a 'Hot' deal is if it is the cheapest available to a UK consumer, not whether the product is any good to you personally.
That's where this site mainly fails; people voting 'Cold' just because they don't like the product. This isn't a review site FFS.

Hell; ive ordered mine

 lol

but still its cheap plastic from china with nothing exciting technology wise that is worth the kind of money being asked no matter which lost village person says is high tech.

If someone lives in the States why would they need to import it when they already live where you can get it cheaper than UK or any other country that likes to charge way over the top for plastic low-tech Krap.
