XBOX 360 PREMIUM CONSOLE only £227.89 delivered

PCworld are currently selling the xbox 360 premium console for only £249.99 but use the voucher i posted at the bottom for a 5% discount, reducing it to £237.49 plus £4.95 for delivery but order through Quidco to get a further 6% cashback, meaning the total cost is £227.89.

If you want to collect at the store, you can also do this but the 5% voucher won't work and you'll receive half the cashback from Quidco, so it'll end up costing £242.49, so it's better to save nearly £15 more and get it delivered to your front door for only £227.89.

5% vouchercode: YAWF07

You can no longer get Quidco cashback from PC World. So price is now £242.44.

~April-May will see the release of a BLACK Xbox 360 premium console with a 120GB hard drive (compared with the current 20GB) as well as a HDMI output. This is expected to have the same RRP as the current premium console i.e. £279.99

So unless you need 120GB of storage space and wish to plug your 360 into your TV via HDMI, the current console will do nicely in my opinion, as 20GB is ample for Xbox Live downloads, game saves and a couple of thousand songs :D, and if you want high definition gaming you could always use the component cable which is already included in the box.

Hope this helps.

Is the black xbox360 for real? I thought it's just a hoax.

I would wait then. prob the new black box will have better reliability. such as new board design that don't fail randomly, silent heatsink fan and dvd drive. Moreover, the price of white version will plunge as it's phased out.

so it is going to be released in australia before japan and america, the 2 largest gaming places in the world?
and it is still merely a rumour, as others have said, if you carry on waiting something is bound to come out, i also thought there were copyright problems with hdmi port, making the hd dvd player region locked by going through hdmi?

on the deal, great deal, also to note when i went into pc world 3 days ago they still had the deal on of any 2 games for £60 so by ordering through pick up in store and going through quidco you should be able to get the 2 xbox360 games for less than £60.

and a paragraph on a website is hardly an "official" announcement. Yes one will come out eventually but in 2 months?

There are some real 360 bargains going around... Im tempted :)

Oh and that roumer doesnt sound likely, there have been pictures of prototypes since dec/jan. The console itself looked no different so it was only a prototype(which means theres more work to be done on it) it might be in the form of a PStwo/megadriveII release(smaller console with revised hardware, 65nm, motherboard, dvd drive, HDMI, digital scaler ect) and these kind of things wouldnt just be released in spring or summer(not financially feasable since it wouldnt make a big enough impact at such a slow period of the calender)... if its out this year it will be just before christmas. I beleive it may even be 2008 before we see a 360Lite style console, so buying one now wouldnt be such a bad idea, it still does the same job afterall.

Heres an article which should give you a better idea:

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Smaller-and-Cheaper-Xbox-360-Delayed-43153.shtml

Although they say they pushed the plans to produce 65nm chips till mid 2007 theres more plans to revise other parts of the console and by the time its all ready it would be safer for everyone to release around christmas(testing for reliability, stability ect)

Please stop spreading rumours as fact.

While there may be a HDMI model in the future it sure as hell won't come out in april. The page you linked to has no information whatsoever about european territories or prices and the whole thing is nothing more than wild speculation based on a leaked photo of a very early dateless white prototype from a month or so ago. Speculation about a black model stems from photographs that have since been revealed as dev kits, again with no credible source of an impending release.

Hopefully there will also be some great deals to be had with the launch of Halo3, although knowing my luck, it will be more in demand and hike the price up! lol

Also, realfriendlyman,
I appreciate that you are a top poster :)
But, do we have to have the price shown after quidco? Surely the title would be better as "£xxx.xx before quidco"?

The £265 odd deal on her the other day was even more impressive IMO. You could easily sell the bits for £40 even if you didnt want them

I had this debate myself recently when looking to purchase a 360 and came to the conclusion that an extra 2/3/god knows how many months of gaming is worth more than the possibility of missing out on a black, quieter, HDMI 360 with a larger HD. I dont regret my purchase even one bit.

Okay, it can still be classed as a rumour owing to the fact that Microsoft have yet to issue a press release confirming it. However, in my opinion, there have been enough reports from various sources which leave me confident in expecting this new Xbox 360 to be released in the next few months.

Regards.

Hi mate,

I understand what you mean but i offered a step by step price the whole time explaining how much it costs before the discount, after discount, after delivery, after quidco and also if you complete the deal for collection.

Also i understand exactly what you mean regarding the more expensive package, as the extras is definately worth more but to be honest, i don't want any of the stuff offered in terms of the games but another pad is always useful.

Some people will prefere to have the cheapest package possible and then when they have disposable funds available, they'll buy what they want, when they want it for example, my friend is interested in an xbox 360 but he didn't care for the other package despite being better value but would prefere to buy pro evo 6 for £16.19, gears of war and other games as they're released and he doesn't need any extra pads, as it's just to play whenever he's bored or when he wants to play with/against us on xbox live.

Hope that answers your question :)

Since there is only the one source, and it is being released in Australia, and nothing heard of the US or European markets, then i think this is just a hoax.
They wont bother in the japanese market as no-one wants it.

I have a 360, and to be honest, what is the difference?
It has HDMI, so what, basically does the same as component can do.
It has a larger hard drive. Its easier to just release a newer bigger drive. (but linking your xbox to your network, i can play all my music and a few vids from my PC on the 360 which is a lot easier and space saving on the 360 drive)

With all the deals at the moment, its not hinting at a new 360.
It's hinting that they are trying to undercut the PS3.
With all the extras added in, which the PS3 has built-in, the 360 works out slightly more expensive.
The price cuts are just bringing it back under the PS3 a bit.

And with the Wii still being sold-out and in such demand, they arent seen as the cheaper console any more.

We need more sources before this is to be believed.

trojan698 hits the nail on the head!!

The waiting for 2/3 months (as a minimum) is not worth a price drop that in my estimation of no more than £50 not the current 360. The absolute lowest price I can see the 360 going for is £200. It seems like offers circa the £250 mark are not too hard to find.

Speaking as someone who only has an Xbox '180' what is the disc tray noise factor of a 360 in comparison to the previous model?

Playing games the drive can be quite noisy, not so loud that you will notice it everytime you play. Playing DVD's on the other hand and the drive is near silent. (and thats on a launch machine).
#21
I guess its a matter of opinion, the console's pretty noisy even when in the dashboard in my opinion. Late night gaming is made pretty difficult, with the noise of the disk spinning you have to turn up the volume to hear it - difficult when you have housemates/neighbours.

I think the original xbox is pretty noise too - but the 360's noiser.
#22
I've just reclaimed over £450 in bank charges and I've promised my boys an xbox 360:thumbsup: . This is the best price I've seen. Think I'm gonna go for it!
banned#23
Does anybody have a link to the other deal at £265 with extras as a comparison?

Thanks

I agree that waiting X amount of months for a slightly improved version would not be worth, in my opinion, the wait particularly as you would be paying more anyway. That is to say that the developments are actually true.
#24
If a new improved 360 is released then I'll sell the one I've bought. Most people wont have a clue until they're in the shops at which point you'll hopefully have sold your old one and not lost much but had several months of gaming.
#25
Have these increased in price now? I can't seem to find it at £249?
#26
Also, I'm having trouble finding PCworld in Quidco - does anyone have a link to the Quidco page?
#27
PC World has pulled out of offering cashback, so you can no longer get Quidco cashback from PC World. So the price is now £242.44 inc the 5% discount + p&p.
#28
Thanks. Incidentally, a couple of us who ordered a Premium 360 using the Great Universal deal got ours delivered today. Total bargain for £207ish!
