Just to confirm, it is the console including the game for £249.99?

If so, then that is a great price, especially if you can bag one of the HDMI premiums

Are HDMI premiums available now and if so how can you confirm from the box ?

Yep, it has a HDMI sign on the box.

It has the HDMI logo on the box

LFC Muppet beat me to it!

But is the actual Halo bundle from Woolies a HDMI "Pro" console?

The HMV deal is better value at £254.99:

XBox 360 Premium
Extra wireless controller
Blue Dragon game
Forza Motorsport game

Which saves £112 on HMV's instore prices. If you don't want the Blue Dragon game, trade it in somewhere and you'll get a decent amount of money off Halo 3. (You can't normally trade in the Forza game, as it has "BUNDLE COPY" printed on the cover so Game/Blockbuster won't take it.)
#9
The lure of the deal is that you get it 1 day before release. Also, if it is included in the price, the Premium works out at £210 :w00t:
#10
Well...with the HMV deal, if you subtract the prices of the games and controller, the Premium works out at £142... Potayto / potahto!

It depends how bothered you are about getting Halo 3 - personally I'm waiting until it's £10 second hand (which won't be more than 6 months).

If the blockbuster trade-in is still on, you may be able to get rid of Blue Dragon and get Halo 3 for an extra £9.99, while still keeping Forza. So, not bad I suppose.

You win...:x

Still keeping Forza AND getting a second Wireless controller... :giggle:

Yesterday I was told Blue Dragon no longer in the £9.99 deal.

Anyone know if the HMW Premium has the HDMI?
#15
Guys im thinking of getting either a ELITE 360 or a Premium... One of the main reasons I want a elite is that its got HDMI connectivity...So are you saying that the new premiums have this too???
#16
Precisely the thing I want to know. Apparently they call them 'Pro' or something.... just wondering if the HMW Premium has the HDMI..

Do you mean HMV?

Anyway, as for non-Elite versions having HDMI or not... you can simply look on the box, it will have a logo on it or actually say HDMI. When the guy behind the counter (at any store) brings out the 360 from the back, look at the box for the logo/text. If it doesn't have it then don't buy it :)
#18
Yes, HMV. Sadly the nearest HMV from here is 2 hours away, else I'd be in the store checking.
#19
So the premium HDMI versions come with HDMI inout AND a free HDMI cable? so its basically the same as the elite but the elite has a bigger hard drive and is black??
#20
I think so. The other thing I've been wondering is if they've whacked the new heatsink on the new Premium, as they have done with the Elite.
#21
Id wait a month or two until they start shipping the new motherboard. Apparently puts an end to the Red Ring of Death problem

Heatsink? Whats that? :?

Heatsink? Whats that? :?

Its a redsign to stop the console knackering.

The Elite is supposed to have it, but there is an issue with it sounding like a tumble dryer! A lot of people have found that their Elites are a lot noisier than the Premiums.

@ Paul7331 - the answer is yes. At least you have a choice now. The Halo 3 limited edition 360 also has HDMI too.
#24
The guy we spoke to in HMV said the Elite isn't selling very well, simply because people don't realistically need a 120GB hard drive, and 20GB is more than enough for general gamers.
#25
how long does this deal last in woolys
#26
I happen to have access to an official M$ supplier of 360's. All new Premiums are now equipped with HDMI. Look out for places trying to clear their old stock, don't get fobbed off with a non-HDMI 360! :)
#27
I was just in the woolworths in Livingston and they didnt have the £249 deal on show.

I didnt ask mind (there was a queue!)

Sweet, cheers mate. Its just a case of making the big PS3 VS 360 decision now though for me! The only thing that is making the PS3 sound better is the fact that it has wireless, but the 360 I have to pay for some sort of wireless dongle, that right? My PC is upstairs and xbox 360 would be downstairs and I want to use it primarily for online gaming...

The new premiums come with HDMI but the do NOT come with a free HDMI cable. They only come with HD component cable. So if you are wanting a premium be prepared to but a hdmi cable as well.

Yes, if you want the USB wireless adaptor for the 360, is about £60. You can get ethernet adaptors for about £40, so it is a bit annoying.

Where is your modem/phone point? If its close to the 360, then you could get a wireless router with ethernet ports and connect your 360 to that. Then, buy a cheapo wirless adaptor for the PC and away you go!

I have both the 360 & PS3 and I like both equally. The downside to the PS3 is the lack of games at the moment, but over time, this will change. Plus, you do get the added benefit of Blu-Ray.

Ive got Virgin media CABLE mate...My connection to my PC is upstairs, although I have a digi box running from a virgin connection downstairs..can anything be done there? Ive got a MSI wireless router upstairs next to my PC that connects to my Nintendo Wii downstairs no problems. So would I have to buy a wireless ethernet adaptor for £40? I assume these are better than the wireless £60 USB adaptors?

You could always try game or gamestation to see if they have any second-hand USB ones. Alternatively, auction sites for either the official USB or ethernet (gaming bridges or gaming adaptors) ones.

I don't have cabe, so I can't comment on what the box can or can't do..sorry:-(

Ok mate no probs. But basically would you suggest me getting the wireless ethernet adaptor as opposed to the wireless USB adaptor? ETHERNET is meant to be faster aint it?

I don't really think it matters. The benefit of the ethernet one is that you don't give any more money to MS. However, the MS USB one is simply plug & play, although I haven't used it.

As well as the PS3 having wireless built in, online gaming is free of charge.

True, but is the online gaming on the 360 far superior at the moment? Man this is a tough decision for me to make!!

The actual act of online gaming is no different, except MS charge for it. What you get with Xbox is the whole XBOX live marketplace and your gamerscore attached, which you do not get on PS3. There is a PS3store for demos etc, but Live just seems better.

It is a tough choice - get both, treat yourself

I wish I could mate! I really dont know what to do! The PS3 appeals as its wireless and I wont have to buy an ethernet adaptor on top of the price of the elite, also I wont have to pay £40 for online gaming, but the 360 has better games at the moment!! :? :? :?

the 360 does have the better games at the moment but there are some great games coming between now and christmas.

you need to look at the games that are out and on the horizon and see what you fancy remembering that you can only play one game at a time
