I took delivery of mine today!!

How to do it....

1) Get an HMV student card from any store you get 15% off your first online purchase.
2) Go to the HMV website. http://www.hmv.co.uk
3) Go to the Buy one Get one free xbox 360 game section via the Offers tab. Select two games from the list. The games must be added to the basket before the console
4) Find the Xbox 360 Premium using the search and click more info, scroll down to the Xbox 360 Premium + Halo 3 + NFS: Prostreet and add it to basket.
5) Go to the checkout and sign in / make a new account
6) Go to account options and type in your HMV student card number into the student card box.
7) Go back to the basket and then enter the same student card code into the Promotional Code box. This then adds the extra 5% on top of the usual 10% discount for students.
8) Go through the ordering process and in 3-5 days you will get an Xbox 360 + 4 decent games for only £267.

And there you have it!

I'm not entirely sure whether or not there is an expiry date with this offer, i tried contacting HMV via e-mail to check but they never got back to me.

Enjoy!

If all these games were bought seperately it would cost in the region of £364.97! saving yourself like £162 lol

comes up as £283 in the basket for me, but im guessing that is because ive used my student card before, anyone know if they stop you just getting another card and adding it to an existing account and getting 15% off again?

Edit: just tried adding a ps3 to my basket and no student discount gets applied to that... grr

Well i went into my local hmv store and bought a cd for my dad for xmas, and i showed my NUS card and they gave me this HMV student card to get me 10% off.

But i guess theres nothing stopping you going in and asking for one!

Hope this helps.

Yes, you only get to use the 15% discount once, but i guess if you go and get a fresh new HMV student card you may be able to get the 15% off.

In HMV's t+c's it does say that the student discount cannot be used against hardware, but that obviously doesn't apply in this case with the xbox 360!

That also may be the reason for the discount not being allowed on the PS3.

Well, i made my decision by looking at how many blu ray films are out at the moment. By the time blu ray becomes widely used will probably some time this year, by which time most blu ray players will probably be a lot cheaper than they are now.

Also many of my friends have Xbox 360's and only 2 or 3 have PS3's

Many of the Xbox 360 games are cheaper than PS3 games as well.

I just think that PS3's are insanely overpriced at the moment and the better choice is the 360 at the current time.

Hopefully this helps :D

I'm not entirely sure on that one, but i would assume that if you have proof of you being a student they can't say no to discount. Otherwise just get a letter from your college or something as proof.

Also no form is needed to be filled in.

The only downside of this is that due to the xbox 360's value it is sent out by special mail which is tracked and is delivered between 9am and 1pm the next day. The 4 games are sent seperately through the normal 3-5 day delivery, so you obviously recieve your xbox first and then your games a few days later! so you sit their twiddling your thumbs for a few days! lol (like me)

when i got mine a while back they made a fuss about having a card with an nus logo ( i used my student union membership card rather than an actual nus card) and an expiry date on it. I guess it depends which person you ask in hmv as to how anal they are about it.

lol i like the BOGOF offer - Every game in it is £49.99 and most of, if not all of, them were about £25 anyway before this "offer" :giggle:

Its a glitch that seems to happen everytime they add a new console/bundle. They seem to forget to exclude it from the student discount.

When the elite was just out i actually ordered it off HMV and it gave me 10% off but it then went out of stock and i cancelled it. I don't know if they will honour the discount as it clearly states in the T&Cs that the discount doesn't apply to hardware. If you check every other console on their site i am pretty sure it won't give you any discount on them!
