Just noticed on the backpage of the makro mag that they have the XBOX 360 premium for £234.99 (inc VAT) in store from the 14 Feb 2007.

This looks like a good price for the 360 premium, but you do need a card to gain entry to the store (but most know someone with a card).

As makro don't useually push the XBOX, could this be the start of price cutting before the PS3?

The core system is being bundled with a 64mb mem pack and a game for £199 from the 14th. Maybe Microsoft are about to drop the price of the Premium pack too.

that would figure, knew they'd drop the price soon after me buying one :p

I seriously doubt MS will drop the price officially, there's no need to. This deal is very similar to what Costco were doing around october last year, they had them for £235 then when the batch had sold they went back upto £270ish.

This link does not work? Does anyone know one that works?
#5
thats a good price. theres rumours of microsoft releasing a black 360 with 120gb hard drive to challenge the ps3 release

Try this link, but pic not very clear

is there anyway of getting a Makro card?
#8
say your running a shop, or shop for a sports club. I think you have to be part of an organisation to get one.
#9
If there is anyone in Birmingham that has a Makro card and is going to the Makro at the bottom of Muklow's Hill could they PM me as I'd really be interested in this...

Also, on the PDF - doesn't it say £237.99??
#10
i have the paper in front of me, and its £237.99. Also note that the prices in the paper are EXCLUDING VAT so this offer is wrong...this has always been the case with Makro.

edit - 237.99 + vat would be RRP price i.e £279
suspended#11
exc vat, how stupid, i hate shops and places that put their exc vat in bold and the real price in normal text.

got my hopes up for premium 360's getting a price drop.
#12
Its not stupid at all. If you had a MAKRO card, you would know the deals are exc vat. You just accept it. America is plus vat for everything in all stores pretty much.

Im afraid its more the OP getting his facts wrong in this case
#13
Sorry Demonite, but the offer is on the back page of the latest Makro mag that has the offer is from the 14th Feb, and notes a price of £199.99 (exl VAT) for the premium, with VAT this comes to the price of £234.99 incl VAT, which is what I originally posted.
#14
sorry chip, but op did not get his facts wrong!

The price may well be dropping shortly horacehogarth.

My daughters fella is a manager in Game, they got some nfo in from head office the other week, basically a heads up saying that Ms was dropping the Core 360, the Premium is taking its place and there is a new 360 version hopefully coming out to coincide with the Ps3 launch ...cant recall what she said it was, going to phone her now

Right back, phoned her and she said it was a new 360 with integrated hd-dvd apparently its a £130 bolt-on @ mo.

Might explain the Makro 360 Premium on special, I assume they'll be wise to the fact as well and may want shot of stock before the Premium market price drops to the same as the Core.

Thanks for the link ajm007 :)

Unfortunately thats the wrong page that ajm007 has pointed to, the catalogue that has the correct price is not on the makro site, as it is starts from the 14th Feb with a new lower price.

The new price is £199.99 pus VAT, £234.99 incl VAT from that date.

so this'new' 360, is it coming out in march?and how much of a price difference will it be

According to a direct conversion from Australian Dollars it's gonna be less than £300, but they can never be truly trusted...

Makro is MEANT to be trade - thus prices are shown correctly WITHOUT VAT..

To become a member you must normally snow releavnt paperwork such as VAT number, paperwork etc to register. OR if you work for a large company you can normally get an account if you register to your work addres

should i wait and see if i new one does come out soon after or still ask for one?
#26
I know at Charlton Makro you can go and get a 1 day pass for £1. That is open to everyone, so maybe worth calling your local store
#27
Sorry about the wrong link guys didn't know it was going to be in the next issue.

I've heard rumour of a new black 360 with a bigger hard drive coming out in australia, bu i highly doubt MS are bringing out a 360 with the hd-dvd built in. They've said time and time again they released the hd-dvd seperately to avoid what happened to Sony. Sony made the blu ray player a nessecity, and because of this made the price of the console sky high, with not too many buyers.

I think i read that MS didn't want to bash people over the head with this high definition drive, which is why they released it as an add on.

Besides, we still have a format war going on. HD-DVD vs Blu Ray. MS aren't stupid enough to include a hd dvd player in their console when it could be a dead format in a few months.

LMAO!!

She'll find it hard to say no after 50 bottles of red !!
#36
Anyone successfully bought one of these?

There's an optional 3 extended warranty for £35 - might be a good plan with the reliability of these things
#37
Went in today and they said the extended warranty was a misprice on the catalogue its not £35 its more like £65

k.. was tempted to buy a second one for "modding" at this price.

Just mod your first one. They can't do anything, and if they do, just flash it back.
#39
I guess it depends what kinda modding you wanna do, I'd like to open the thing up and try and make it quieter ;-)
#40
The drive is the problem.

Nothing else in there causes as much noise as that beast.

Same for the Hitachi and Samsung drives.

The new BenQ drive is meant to be much, much quieter.

Other than get the new drive, you won't be able to do much.
