Xbox 360 Pro + Halo 3 + Mass Effect - £189.99 @ Toys R Us

jbarnettjbarnett

An Xbox 360 bundle with a Pro console (which has HDMI output,as oppose to a Premium which doesn't), and some decent games. Admittedly both Halo 3 and Mass Effect can be found quite cheap now, but it's still better than most of the bundles you'll find.

I found this advertised in the Mirror today, and it's available until the 14th. It also says to check for local availability, however it does appear to be available to order online anyway.

Don't know why this was voted cold - Ok i'm sure there are other deals of a similar value with different games around. You'd be hard pressed to buy a new Pro with new copies of Halo 3 and mass Effect cheaper than this.

    Voted hot.

Newer premiums did/do have HDMI actually... I have 2 premiums both HDMI. I've also had a pro with no HDMI... Its all about console age. I think there are a number of deals going at the moment because of uncertainty as to whether the bigger Hard Drive will be coming to Europe as standard..

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. It seems rather strange, I was under the impression that the Pro had HDMI by definition. Sounds like you've been through quite a few consoles by the way!

No... none of them broke down, I simply sold on at a profit... or because I ran out of cash  (Largely thanks to this place no doubt) :-D

Hi, I haven't got an Xbox at the moment but am thinking about it as I now have an HD telly. Which should I got for Elite/Pro/Premium ? is there something new coming along with xbox? cheers

Yes, this model is being replaced with a bigger hard drive model soon.

Yeah, it's definitely worth getting one with a bigger hard drive than 20GB, be it the Elite now, or the 60GB version whenever they decide to release it. With the autumn dashboard update they'll be allowing you to copy game on to the HDD for decreased loading times, and obviously you won't be able to fit many games on to a 20GB hard drive.

    thanks guys.

Although since you still need the game DVD in at all times, it's a next to worthless feature.

I am tempted to buy this, I only want Mass Effect which costs around £10 now, so I would be paying £169.99 for the console £10 for mass effect and selling halo3, which for a new console seems like a prety good deal!

One question though, is this going to be the latest chipset? I do no want to get RROD If it can be helped.... also will it come with full warentee?

    Thanks!

Why is is worthless unless your a pirate, the thing is the disc is needed so you can't copy & share! The thing is, it stops the disc spinning.

Agreed, although it's nice not to have to put the disk in at all, your saving your laser and hard disk from ware-and-tear. These always seem to die in well used consoles. I'd still use this and definatly wouldn't call it worthless.

If you are worried about the red ring, remember you get a 3 year rrod warrenty from the date of purchase (Though you do have the pain of sending it off and waiting for a replacement). This would probably be long enough to take you to the next xbox anyway.

Actually you would be massivly increasing the wear-n-tear on the HD as the game would be loading from that rather than the ROM. The disc needs to be in the ROM as it will no doubt be regularly checking that it is present to prevent sharing as someone else said.

Either way it's not 'Useless' as it does reduce wear-n-tear on the ROM and also increae's both load times and reduces system heat which in turn means less noise from the fans as well as massivly reduced ROM noise.

This deal looks hot, just pray it don't have a LiteOn ROM in it :whistling:

Will we be expecting the "new" update in September? I really can't wait for 1680 x 1050 support alongside a quieter disc drive!

    I don't think this deal is that great, the 60GB model is out this Friday so the 20GB will probably be reduced even further in the coming days / weeks;

You can get a 120GB HD for £72.25 delivered @ Scan if you already have a Arcade/Premium/Pro console.

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/226926/xbox-360-120gb-hard-drive-72-25-del

If you sell the 20GB HDD from your premium console you can get around £25 to £40 on eBay and if you also sell the transfer kit you can also get £15 to £20 for that so you will almost recoup the costs of the 120GB HDD.

Microsoft have just announced that as of this coming Friday (15th), across the UK, that the Xbox 360, 20GB hard drive model will be no more and is to be replaced by the new 60GB model. Even better is, that's at no extra cost.

Plenty more room for your downloaded films, games, music and pictures. So if you need a new 360 with bigger storage, this model will soon be available for £199.99. Of course, you can still branch out and pick up the Elite for £259.99, but this doesn't make a bad alternative.
