sounds a good deal, going to get very hot this deal I think....

It comes to it when one of the top new features is *how quiet it is!!

They should not have been that noisy in the first place.

*250 Gb Console (You can already buy 250 Gb hard drives for the older versions.

*Built in Wifi ( already have Wifi adaptors)

* Slimmer
* Kinect ready ( have to pay over 100 Pounds to use it!

Not very impressive really, but a lot of people will buy it just because it will be so quiet

ffs the word is QUIET!!!

Erm, quite a decent list of upgrades tbh, and considering its not that much more expensive that what the elite was, very reasonable. To get a 250gb / N+ WIFI alone for a normal xbox would costs a lot more.

I'm not sure what you were expecting, what did ps3 slim have to offer extra? and all the wii did was change its colour!

Anyway this is a good deal, was thinking of getting wake, and considering its only £10 extra, bargain. Shopto is cheaper, but some people like to goto a shop and make a purchase.

damn tootin... my xbox elite sounds like a jet engine... unbelievably noisy and a real nuisance when trying to watch vids. I agree they should not have been like this in the first place but for [email protected] i am trading in (got it before reduced) as mine is 3 years old... so I get a new console with a years warranty and a higher trade in value when the next big thing is released. Oh, and wireless for me is good as no longer have internet connection in living room at the big telly ;-)

Thought all xboxs were kinect ready?

Is this at ASDA stores today, or from tomorrow?

Seems a really good price for the new system. Is this going to get an xbox v ps3 war going again?

So many things wrong with this post but mainly, on what info are you stating the price of Kinect. NOBODY knows apart from Microsoft, anything else is pure speculation, and a lot of retailers are doing just that, speculating!
#14
I'm going to buy mine at Asda - normally I'd prefer the (cheaper) online stores, but given my expectation that something'll go wrong and I might need to chase a refund or similar, I'd much prefer to deal with a retail shop - especially a goliath like Asda!
#15
My 4 year old 360 just got the RROD, luckily I fixed it, but this would have had me tempted.

In addition to other comments here, the new slim is the SAME price as before. If the retailers were selling below RRP before that is the only reason for the price difference.

So you get double the HDD space, wifi included, a quieter system, a cooler less power hungry system, its smaller, it doesn't need additional power for Kinect. Can you explain how for the same price as the old Elite it isn't that impressive? Yes if you purchased an old one its annoying but its just as annoying if you got an iPhone 3 and then have to up(down)grade to the iPhone 4.

Also - Microsoft haven't released any pricing for Kinect so let's not speculate, and Kinect has nothing to do with this deal. Its an add-on accessory, if you want it then buy it, if not then don't and stop complaining! Either way it works with all 360's, only the way you power it will differ!

Sainsbury's deal has the better choice of game imo, just for Red Dead Redemption alone. Worth more selling it on as well, surely?

Can't be long before Tesco match these offers.. hopefully they include Red Dead Redemption in their offer too.
#18
I think I might go for this one tbh and just give the game to my little brother because he's after Splinter Cell cheap so.. Don't fancy Alan Wake really..
#19
Got mine today. Its a nice piece of kit, The only negative was it didnt come with a hdmi cable.

Here is a gd review for anyone still considering 360 slim
#21
I read it only comes with a 1 year manufactures warranty. Not great when you look at the problems the previous versions have had...........

Well, MS, hats off to them, did subsequently offer 3 years for RROD.

No, but you don't get one here unless you pay 199, AW and SC:C have been as low as £17.99
So the 199 deal saves you 2 quid, the 189 loses you 4, hence cold.

That's true, but if this new hardware is that good why not give a 2 or 3 year with it in the first place?

The previous one only comes with a 1 year warranty. The RROD and E74 issues were covered by an extended 3 yr warranty on all consoles and I'd hazard a guess that this would include the newer ones too! But it won't be an issue because the motherboard and cooling has been completely redesigned!

Do you get a 3 yr warranty on your £2000 Samsung 3D LED TV? NO! In fact very few manufacturers offer more than a yrs warranty since they don't have too. Its usually the retailer (John Lewis for TVs) that extend it.

You don't get a HDMI cable with anything - not even a blu-ray player. Why would this be different?
#30
When the elite was first released a HDMI cable was included, as was the audio adapter, now it comes with neither! not sure at what point they stopped.
#31
I got a hdmi cable with both my samsung home cinema packages (one was an upscaling DVD, the other blu-ray) so some manufacturers do in fact include hdmi cables with their products!

Ahh well, deals seem to be good, but already pre ordered mine at game for tomorrow. Getting staff discount so not much more to pay really with my trade in of elite.

I do like the look of this xbox, i like that everything is just internal now. and that the power pack is smaller aswell as better on the energy.

You my friend, are a grade A wally! You have just said getting the game saves more money, therefore a hot deal. No one is saying its a better deal than shopto, its just a different deal, that may suite people who want to buy instore rather than online, and with a more reputable company.

Funny you should say that. The new Samsung TV range being released later this year in time for Christmas all come with a 5 year warranty.........

So in answer to your question - YES!

ERRM you sure? Samsung literally just released their 2010 range. I should know I forked out a fortune for one. Can you please provide evidence of this? Either way if it is true its a first.

I stand corrected, didn't get one with my Blu-Ray player from Samsung. They have to provide the lowest common denominator so I suppose choosing not to include both cables is a cost saving. Either way they are £1 so people should quit complaining. Unless they want a gold monster cable with it ;)

if I get this, how easy is it to transfer data from my old elite to this new one? and will it affect my xbox gold subscription? also would it be worth my while trading my old elite in somewhere like hmv instead of getting it from asda?
#40
For stuff like this, will Asda start selling them from midnight tonight at the 24h stores?
