if you are going to buy one of these, you're probably better to wait and see what sort of bundles come out next month, raher than buying for only a fiver under RRP

Exactly mate. It'll still become hot though. Not because it's a partcularly good deal, but because 360 fanboys are like moths to a flame when it comes to blindly talkng up their console.

I reckon this 'slim' version will end up having more problems than the original breeze block 360. Smaller space for air to circulate in an already cheaply produced piece of hardware?! Not good.

Only time will tell though. Just speculating going by Micro$ofts past bad rep.

And Nintendo or Sony fanboys aren't?

The cpu and gpu are now on the one 45nm chip, the 2 little fans have been replaced by 1 big fan and the power consumption is a lot less. Apparently if the 360 is overheating, it will shutdown. I doubt it will suffer from hardware failure as much as original system.

It cannot technically get the 3 red lights, as it doesnt have red leds ;)
Instead hardware failure will result in red dot of death

I will be trading in my Elite against the new system, I think its a step in the right direction and I'll be getting rid of my 3 year old system for a new one with bigger HDD etc

I can see why M$ are avoiding branding it the 360 slim; it's still 1 big brick, connected to a slightly smaller brick!

Also, no hdmi cable included!
This is a 2010 product, and they're still packaging it with only the composite cabling? Ridiculous.

PS3 doesn't come with an HDMI cable either.

Exactly, I don't think the PS3 has ever came with an HDMI cable and it started at more than double the price of the new 360.

By the way keep up the Micro$oft, M$ comments. It makes the fanboys easier to spot.

Equally ridiculous.
$ony being money grabbing b*stards doesn't excuse M$ from the same behaviour

FYI 360 Elites did come with HDMI cables for a time, though they phased this out soon after the jasper revision was released.
All-in-all I think this is a step backwards for M$.

My PS3 Slim came with an HDMI cable too, I got it about 6 months ago then they stopped supplying them.

Oh they are, their just a bit more grown up about it.

I have wanted a 360 for years, and even though I vowed never to get one after they left us old Xbox owners high and dry, I still wanted one (shows what a sucker I am) Anyways, the horrible build quality & fail rate has made it very easy to stick to my vow never to get one. If this new 360 really turns out to be reliable, then I may reconsider. I'm not getting my hopes up though.
