This is the very limited and special Halo 3 edition of the Xbox 360 console (Equivalent to the new Pro version) but is designed for the person that likes to be different, Halo fans or for people that love collectables, as no doubt, this will be worth money in the future, especially when you consider hardly any retailers are selling this.

The Halo 3 console is exactly the same as the standard Pro version but has a special Halo 3 edition casing on the console with an exclusive look on the wireless controller, hard drive, Headset and will come bundled with exclusive Halo downloadable content and will come bundled with a a Play and Charge Kit (can be found for around £12) which is essential for recharging your wireless controller during gameplay.

I've checked on search engines and there only seems to be only 4 online retailers that are selling this special limited edition console and they are all charge the full retail price of £279.99 (including Play.com, HMV & Amazon) apart from Tesco who charge £267.63.

I also saw the deal listed on here a couple weeks ago for £279.99 from Amazon but it came with a free halo 3 game and was a very hot deal but you could buy the game for £29.99 from Shopto anyway, so that means the package still works out £30 less.
The console isn't instock right now but is expected to be instock within the next couple days according to there forums.

Hope that helps. :)

"Halo 3 Xbox 360 Console + Play Charge kit " Game Not Included""

Doesn't this console usually include the game? Maybe that's why it's so cheap?

Nope, very stranglely, Microsoft decided not the bundle the game with the Halo 3 console but some people are happy with this decision because there's 3 different Halo 3 game versions including the standard, Collectors Edition (tin with bonus dvd) and Legendary Edition (bonus + collectable helmet), so depends on what you prefere from that.

As I mentioned in the OP though, if you want the standard edition of the game, Shopto are selling it at the unbeatable price of £29.99 + 4% Quidco, making it £28.79 including delivery, so the whole bundle will work out just £249.99 before Quidco, whereas this would cost £319.99 from Play.com and Amazon, saving about £70 with quicker deliveries.

What seems to be the problem with your 360 because if the problem is 3 red lights, you don't need to buy another one because Microsoft are offering 3 years warranty on this problem alone but the turn around seems to be around a month?

Welcome to the forums as well and it's great to see your first post was in my thread. :)

Yeah unfortunately it is the 3 red light component failure :-(

I sent the console off to Microsoft Yesterday but like you say it's going to take anywhere up to a month.

So my plan was to buy a new console which has HDMI support and then trade the fixed one in when it comes back from Microsoft.

Plus i like the nifty design of the Halo 3 edition 360.

Seems like your all a friendly bunch around here

I should point out that that console, as far as I know, is the only version of the 360 that has the new 65nM processor chip ATM, which should bypass the possibility of RRoD instances in the future - so even more of a deal!

I thought the design fault in the 360 was the motherboard overheating and bending and breaking the copper tracks?

I'm seriously hacked off that microsoft don't seem to be able to get their s*** together with the 360 hardware. Not only have I had to send my xbox back after the RRoD, but I've also discovered that my forcefeedback wheel could burst into flames at any moment unless I order a retrofit kit off them!

And it seems that the DVD drive has a small component missing that can cause disks to get scratched and become unusable.

Sorry to question your info, but wouldn't the Elite also have mods to avoid the problems? From what I've read I can't find conclusive evidence that microsoft have completely solved the design problems.

I was tempted to trade in my 360 when it was fixed for an Elite, but not until I am convinced the issues are solved. :x

Cheers.

Incredible deal, well done. Trying to think of a reason why I would need to purchase this considering I already have a 360. Hmmmmm

The Halos where the first to be spotted with falcon internals, but 'normals' are appearing with falcon internals too.

I really want one of these, my worry however is that you stand a better chance of getting falcon internals with a normal 360 than with a Halo one. I am assuming that they did the halo boxes in one batch and that was that, ie they won't be making more 'new' ones, hence you getting a better chance with a normal premium.

I could of course be wrong!

Some Falcon info + discussion in this thread if anyone's interested:

Someone (Bully?) in this thread posted a link to an xbox forum thread about identifying which "lots" have the new falcon chip........(but it got deleted)

I think it was this one
http://forums.xbox.com/15804553/ShowPost.aspx

Seems to indicate all Halos have the Falcon

From memory I think it said all Halo xboxs had the falcon chip.

Nah that's not right, I had one and it had the old heatpipe 90nM combo :-(

Took it back a couple of days after getting it.

what are shop-to like for returns? i really want one with the benq drive - what is the likelyhood of this having one?

I sent my 360 off 2 months ago. They said it would take AT LEAST 25 working days. From the time the courier picked it up to my home, it was less than 2 weeks

Not very good apparently. They say that distance selling regs don't apply to them and refer you to Microsoft for all service enquiries from day one.

Drives appear randomly, impossible to predict without reports from previous buyers of a particular batch.
#24
And they charge you 10% or something for returning in the distance sellings act (sealed games). Poor really.

From what I read the 3 lights is caused by the GPU overheating and it's located under the DVD drive. Apparently the Current Falcon's have a 65nM cpu only, they have not got around to getting the GPU to 65nM, so it's only a half way house. Can't remember where I read this now sorry. Also some rumors about the Halo versions getting the RRoD.
#26
think i will get one from game, at least u have the peace of mind of returing it to the store if any probs.

Isn't it just the Elites in the UK with the BenQ DVD drive?

No, while this may have been the case when the Elite first launched, currently it can be any SKU. In the link I posted earlier, there was a report of a UK Pro machine with a BenQ. And similar reports elsewhere.

should you buy one and have problems what are the chances m'soft replacing the unique Halo3 branded stuff like for like ?? say the HD goes or a pad broke - would they replace with a brand new Halo3 coloured 20gb hd or a standard looking one ? i'd be quite worried if i bought one and had problems.

Even if they did run out of halo 3 consoles, they can replace the internals of yours without touching the 'halo 3 branded' plastic shroud.

I wouldn't worry about it :)

I think if you get a problem & you have had the console for more than 30 days you have to contact Microsoft, standard policy at all retailers, unless someone states otherwise.
#33
That's rubbish, your contract is with the retailer.

I don't know if this applies with all retailers now, I know it doesn't apply to most if not all online retailers and it's too expensive to send off your console to an online store anyway (around £15) and they would then send it off to Microsoft for you anyway, whereas Microsoft would collect it from you at a convenient time and cover all costs since the problem is there fault due to the poor design of there product.

More and more retailers are letting the manufacturer handle the warranty now, as the warranty is actually with them in the first place and not the store, so the store would have to go through a lot of hassle to resolve the problem and increased expenditure, which would mean they've lost there whole profit margin on the product and more inorder to remain competitive and resolve a problem that wasn't there fault.
