SWEEEEET!!

HOT DEAL! Heat & Rep!

just waiting for some fanboy rantings to start like they did when i posted a 360 super elite deal, those guys are so annoying lol!

Although I'm an avid 360 fan, I find the pricing a little odd. Not wanting to get into any flame war but this seems like rubbish value to me compared with what you get with the "other" system out there.

I'm not saying this is a bad deal compared to what else is about, and I absolutely will! be buying forza 3 for my system. (Xbox live kicks psn's ****).

It's a good deal when you consider the "Super Elite" has a 250GB Hard-Drive rather than the standard 120GB.

Voted Hot.

now we need to find out which drive is in it and find out how we can hack standard xboxes to accept one!!!

I do agree, to a degree. Whilst I think this is a great deal*, I'm a little disappointed that Microsoft haven't come up with a "slim" xbox360.

be careful, microsoft are planning to block unauthorised storage devices - don't know whether this will apply to hacked hard drives though.

Only memory units that plug into the front of the console are affected, MS confirmed this.

You really want a slim 360?

It just won't work.

1) heat issues have only just been resolved with the latest motherboard revision.
2) how will peripherals such as HDD's fit on a slim?

They could make an XBOX 360 'Short' :p

I guess we'll find out next week if they wanna do anything about it.
If they don't do anything by then, i doubt they ever will.

microsoft have been making 360's short since they were released (short out) that is LOL

Am I missing something? Deal says it's for a pre-order?

i think you are right because if people upgrade their hard drive they will be buying more xbla products so don't see why ms would block the hard drive. they did mention storage devices but i think they were referring to memory cards in this respect but i would recommend people wait before they start investing in 250gb satas. to put in their 20gb caddies.

nice price just received the limited edition game early today from shopto.net not officially out till Friday :-D
#16
hot from me:thumbsup:

Massive premium for a drive that costs about £10 more at wholesale isn't it. Think when they find out if you can do DIY drives again on this I will hopefully mod my 20GB and paint my arcade black :)

So is the same normal, red ringing xbox 360, just with a 250gb hard drive? Dont get me wrong I love my 360, but I'm always scared of it eating itself.
#19
Just found it cheaper! £219.74 at Simply Games.

Still seems a bit steep and a bit harsh being unable to just slap in a cheapo laptop hd like the PS3 - you could buy two second hand 40GB PS3 for £35 less and then use that £35 to upgrade one to 360GB....not knocking it as a system as it has some great exclusives but would never pay this much for one (didn't mind paying £130 for a regular elite, extra pad and two games though from the amazon deal mind you!)....and yes thats right...I am comparing an new 360 to a second hand PS3....but two second hand PS3's!

Great deal - do we assume that the super-elite's are jasper's?

I hope so as i've pre ordered the modern warfare 2 elite bundle. Considering these would have been manufactured over the last month or two it would seem strange if there not jaspers :?

I swapped mine out months ago. Paid £30 for a 120GB drive, followed online instructions to flash drive firmware to that of MS 120GB drive. Transferred data across using Xplorer360.

Just a matter of time (if it's not available already) until the MS 250GB drive firmware is available on the net somewhere. Same procedure for flashing will apply I would think. Just need to wait until someone finds the right HDD to use.

Instructions for procedure here:

No.

It is a Jasper (Super) Elite. All Xboxes are Jaspers now (and Valhalla is only months away - the 45nm SoC combi CPU & GPU SKU)

The Falcon SKU (65nm CPU & 80nm GPU & RAM) already cut the fail rates right back.

In fact it turns out that the fail rates seen so far with Jasper (1%) are 1/10th the fail rates seen on the old 'fat' PS3 (10%).

This is all according to the SquareTrade aftermarket warranty people in the USA in a report dated 28th Aug 2009 -
