Yesterday I traded in my old 20GB Xbox 360 (one with HDMI) along with an extra controller and the wireless adapter and got a new 250GB with Halo Reach for only £82.98. Thought it was a good deal personally. Cost breakdown as follows:

New Xbox 360 Slim 250GB £149.98
Halo Reach £24.98
Xbox 360 20GB -£50
Extra Wireless Controller -£12
Wireless adapter -£15
360 + 1 game promotion -£14.98

TOTAL =£82.98

I believe the games you could have gotten on the promotion were Halo Reach, Forza Motorsport 3 or Fable 3.

It was actually cheaper to get a new one then buying a second hand model which I was planning on doing.

Does your trade in xbox have to be in working order. Mine is not reading the discs so this would be a good way of getting a new xbox
#2
The man in the shop tests the machine with a game to make sure its working. Mine was crashing a lot but luckily it didn't happen when he tested it.

I think you would probably still get something for it but just not as much, as gamestation will probably fix up old machines and sell them on.

pay £150 console
pay £15 halo reach
165
less console sale on ebay 90 min
less controller 10 min
wireless adapter 15 min

so even a numpty can get your deal for 50

cold

50 trade in for the console is terrible!!
amount for the controller is fair and the adapter is ok, but they are dead easy to sell and post via ebay

Great deal? does it need to be boxed?
#5
Well if you'd quoted the trade in price from HMV you'd have gotten another £21 for your 360. But this isn't a deal, the deal is the 360 price, not that you can trade in for one if you happen to have all that stuff anyway.

And yes it has to work. If it doesn't work, Gamestation won't take it. Same as GAME, they don't fix it, they just check to see if it works and if so, box it up and sell it on. If it doesn't work, they aren't supposed to buy it.

I agree you could probably get more on ebay, but it's a bit more hassle, I thought it would be quicker and easier just to take it down to the shops

This is a good deal, ignore any negative comments, the post above is totally moronic post imo. Who would buy an old 20GB Xbox 360 for £90min on Ebay with the potential for red rings of death when you can buy a brand new under warranty 250GB Slim model for £149.

This is much easier just take it striaght to the shop and trade it in no hassle and get a much better upgraded Xbox360. Im amazed they would even give any money for the old Xbox 360's to be honest, would take advantage of this deal as soon as possible if I still had an old Xbox 360

I know that if it hasn't got the HDMI port it will be less than £50.

Thats why I sold mine i felt the RROD was imminent.

The title is a little missleading. You're only getting £50 for the console so a new slim 360 is £100 not £82.

you would have got nothing like £90 for your xbox on ebay - even 120G elites are only going for around £70 on average

you made the right choice, less hassle and it IS a good deal !!!
#15
ye good deal ,,i just bought same set up (xbox,x control, wireless adaptor)for 50 (car boot)and all works fine so think might pop for gamestation trade.

Does anyone know if Gamestation offer set trade-in prices or do the trade-in prices vary depending on the store? The reason I ask is that I have an old non-HDMI 20GB Pro console kicking about which has never RROD'd but is pretty much surplus to requirements since I upgraded to the new 250GB slim model.

I rang up the store I was taking it to before hand and he quoted the price over the phone then honoured it when I went in the store later. I am guessing it will be set prices with gamestation being nationwide, but worth ringing just to double check.

Cheers. I'll give the local store a wee ring next week. I can't be bothered going down the eBay route as I'm guessing there won't be much interest in a non-HDMI model.

Will Gamestation buy an XBox from you or does it have to be traded in against something?

I got store credit as I wanted a new slim model. If you want cash you will probably get less then what I got

My 20gb xbox got the RROD the other day :( It was 3years and 6 mths old... out of warranty , I just bought £149 250gb from Amazon, but i would def recommend anyone to take advantage of this deal

If your xbox 20gb is around 3 years then its pretty likely to die soon

£83 is far better than £150.... I thought my xbox was ok but just died when i switched it on
#23
how would you transfer your saves?
#24
Xbox 360 20GB -£50
Extra Wireless Controller -£12
Wireless adapter -£15
360 + 1 game promotion -£14.98

i agree with other posts, these are shocking trade values. You can get at least £20 on ebay for a wireless pad, and the adapters can easily go for £30+ . a working console might fetch around £70 on the bay. good deal if you cant be assed selling and posting on ebay, otherwise cold

Having a slight problem with the new 360. I put all of the saves etc from the old xbox onto a 4gb memory pen however it doesn't show up when I put it in the new xbox. Anyone know a solution?

Not exactly on topic but do with some help and thought people might have had the same problem.
#26
Sounds like a hassle free solution to off load an old piece of tech for a new piece. Anyone know how xbox live would transfer over to a new consol?

No it doesnt have to be in working order, in fact you could just give them the xbox 360 casing X)

you can easily recover your gamertag on the new xbox which has your achievements and gold membership attached to it which I have done, but I am having problems with all my saved games. I put them on a memory pen and they have seemed to have disappeared as the new xbox doesnt recognise that I have the pen even in the xbox.

sounds like a bad idea to me, if you dot know what your doing; did they not ask you about saves?
#30
what the hell, how is this a deal?

Thats like me saying I traded in my 20gb 360, plus 4 extra pads, plus a wireless adapter , plus a wireless headset, plus a play and charge, plus 10 games, and GOT A FREE 250GB MODEL

this has gotten so hot, because the title is wrong. and most people dont click on the posts and read them.

this is a pretty poor deal to be honest. if the deal, was as the title says, then it would be hot. but it it aint this is a poor deal and voted accordingly.

I feel your pain.

I was in an almost identical position to yourself, but luckily, had one month left on my warranty.

Just awaiting for my unit to be returned, hopefully next week, but now seriously thinking about selling it and buying a slim instead.
#33
ive had mine for 3 years with not one RROD but its not an HDMI model! so id probably get less credit, does anyone know how much HMV offer?

I recently sold my Xbox 360 20GB on eBay all boxed up and only got £70 for it. It included lots of extras too.

Hi all:

RROD: Have you guys heard about 'Sales of Goods Act 1979 as amended'? Basically the consumer has 6 years (England-Wales, 5Scotland) 'warranty' on goods. This means that the product needs to be fit for purpose and therefore if it is a known problem the manufacturer/retailer has to refund/replace faulty goods. I am in the last stage of my claim against Dell re XPS laptop with the Nvidia fault. Therefore, owners of XBOX with RROD should contact the retailer/Microsoft and go all the way, including logging a case in the Small claims court to get your money back.

I have a 2007 XBOX 20Gb non-HDMI no RROD yet (light use, mainly to stream movies to TV really) and would be happy to trade-in for a new 250Gb version.

is this offer still on?

People talking of selling on Ebay (as I used to do) dont seem to take into account the selling fees, final valuation fees and possible paypal fees that you incur after the sale this can be approximately 20% of your final cost, which with the less hassle option makes this deal a good deal in my opinion.
