Can anyone tell me, please, whether the console needs to be switched on for this to charge through the console's USB/ Obviously, the console needs to be connected to a live mains socket, but is the USB socket live w/out powering-up the console? Otherwise, could you plug it into the mains through a 3-pin plug with USB outlet, as some phones use? Any info appreciated, thanks.

Are these made by a third party manufacturer, or are they an MS product? I've had problems before with rechargeable battery packs basically being crap.

online it says get the above charger half price when you buy any xbox 360 game but for some reason it shows as £9.99 online maybe they didnt update it when they reduced it to £9.99 from £19.99 wjem you order instore if it shows at £9.99 still tell them it says half price with any xbox 360 game so should be £5 they will then change the price like they did for me

Good deal its all well using rechargeable batteries but in my vain attempts to keep 2 controllers going i found even if you get ahead charging batteries they do not HOLD there charge for too long.

I have gone for this for this reason only, and the fact it charges without the console powered up.

Thanks op

Can someone let me know if this device can be used to charge official microsoft batteries. EG does the controller plug into the stand via the official play and charge port on the top - or do the batteries have a seperate port?

The batteries are bonus - I want to be able to use the stand with my exisiting set of play and charge official batteries too.

Thanks

Thanks - purchased! :p

Does anyone know if this will charge the batteries on their own or do they need to be connected to a controller ?

Good Find. Just got last white one in Birmingham. They still had a few black ones left. Tried to get the additonal half price discount with a game as well but also didn't work for me either. £9.99 just for the charges is a bargain anyway.

Purchased - As expected the dock connects to the controllers via the standard play n charge socket, and the two batteries supplied are low capacity 650mAh. They'll do for emergencies in the middle of a game of FIFA 11 or Halo Reach.

Microsoft Original Battery is : 2100mAh.

Other 3rd party batteries are:
3600mAh
1800mAh
2100mAh

I would assume that the charging circuits built into the "Gamexpert Charging Station" will measure the flow of charging and shut off when the current doesn't move - hence battery charged, so in theory I can answer my own question...

Yes, you can use this device to charge other batteries that charge via the standard socket.
