We all know that, the question for you is Who is talking about the PS3 in here?

Am I missing something ?

This is a decent price for the overpriced adapter. Heat added

its the next generation of games consoles and I'm simply saying that PS3 beats xbox hands down. In the long run with xbox live, wireless adapters and more nonsense the 360 will eventually cost more than a PS3........... and no RROD!!

Actually, I don't really want to jump to the defence of Ben3110, but...

He's right in what he's saying. If you continue to buy yearly xbox live subscriptions, an xbox 360 will end up costing more than a PS3, in the long run.

nobody is disputing that,i have both consoles, the ps3 rarely gets used except for playing blurays, xbox live is so much better than the ps3 on line that its worth paying the £2.50 a month it works out at ,the ps3 has so much lag and lost connections, it makes it unplayable in my opinion

yes but because xbox 360 charges for its online service you get a far superior service than the free service on ps3 almost without question anything you pay for the company is obliged to give you a good service just look at how bad free broadband is , 360 servers are far far more stable and that is a fact

You're right, xbox live is a superior service, but only slightly.

I have both machines, and I've experienced more lag with xbox live than PSN. Having said that, there is more content on xbox live, and the friends invite interface is much better too.

1. You don't need wi-fi to connect to a network. Yes, there's this new fangled thing called a cable which also works.

2. The PS3 wi-fi isn't as good - it only supports 802.11b/g, which both operate on 2.4Ghz - a very overused frequency! The 360 wi-fi adaptor supports 802.11 a/b/g (with 802.11a working over 5Ghz), meaning if you connect it to an 802.11a router you'll get a far better connection with almost no interference).

Now run along you little Troll - mummy's calling you.

Can you explain what it is that makes it a "far superior service"?

I've asked this question before but never really get an answer and it seems to be a tired old cliche that may have been true in the past but is still used by people who feel they have to justify the fact they are basically paying £40 a year for nothing.

stable servers , no drop out , little to no lag seen apart from people on dodgy connections , you dont have an xbox thats for certain otherwise you would know ask anyone who has both and they for the most part will agree that the ps3 is not there yet with its online service

PS3 online is very stable, with no drop out, and there certainly no lag unless you have a dodgy connection.

I'm not saying that the PS3 offers a better online service (yet) however there is no way that the service LIVE offers is anywhere close to being £40 per year better.

As this has become a fan thread I would like to give my opinion. I simply loved this types of thread.

Again in my opinion
XBOX 360:
Pros:
- A lot more games, specially for the types of games I like RPGs (FABLE 2, TWO Worlds, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Dead Space, etc) I know the last two are available for PS3 as well
- The XBOX 360 games simply look better on my TVs at 1080p compared to the PS3 equivalent, (Not sure why when a PS3 game says at the back 720p only it looks really bad in my 1080p TV except MGS4) . Pretty much every single game for the XBOX 360 says 1080p whether is rendered, upscaled or whatever) this is a fact for me, Beijing 2008 (PS3) looks horrible in my TV the XBOX 360 version was a lot better.
- You can use MSN whilst you play
- The XBOX dashboard is far superior than the PS3 one.
- You can dowload pretty much anything from XBOX LIVE with an XBOX LIVE Silver account. (which is FREE)
- You get a lot of DLC which are exclusive to XBOX 360 and PC (Fallout 3, Fable 2, etc) * No need to pay the £40 to dowload this just the Points for the DLC.
- You have the option to play without a harddrive.
- Backwards compatible with XBOX (not all games)
- When you download something as soon as it's finished is ready to use (no need to install it)

Cons:
- The machine is quite loud (not too bad with the patch to install game in the Harddrive)
- You have to pay for XBOX Live (not too bad if you really like it) In my case because I mainly play RPG I don't bother.
- Is not realiable. I have 2 ARCADES and one of them has been replaced 3 twice in 6 months
-You have to pay for every accesory (battery, charger, Network adapter, etc)

PS3:
Pros:
- Blu Ray
- Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo and MGS4 exclusive
- Very silent
- Reliable
- Free online gaming (WIFI included)
- No need for batteries (charger included)
- PS Home game
- PSOne backwards compatible

Cons
- Not many RPGs games (at least the ones I like)
- Reduced selection of games
- The non 1080p games in my opinion looks worst than their XBOX 360 equivalent.
- Online experience not as good as the XBOX 360
- No PS2 compatibility (unless you have an extinct 60gb model)
- You have to download the patches and then install them
- Pretty much every game needs to install something in the hard drive.

Overall I enjoy both, I don't play a lot online as I play RPG games, but when I do sometimes I play GTAIV on the PS3 (not very often) so I can not comment about lag because I don't use it a lot.
But to be honest the PS3 is mainly used to watch Blu-ray movies and for the kids to play Little Big Planet. I mainly use the XBOX and when I have to buy a game I look at the back of the box and get the PS3 only if it says 1080p if not I go for the XBOX 360 version which happens most of the time.

I think I used the XBOX 360 probably about 80% of my the gaming/movie time and the PS3 the rest.

This is an informed opinion from someone that owns both.

And people stop complaining about which one is better than the other one, they are both as good and as bad in their own way, just be happy with what you have and let the rest of us do the same, if you are really bothered then get both and make your own mind.

I suppose it would be perfect if we could have a PSX360 with only the good things from both, but let's face it that's not going to happen

EVERYONE SHUT UP. No one gives a flying f**k about any of this console war nonsense and it is completely irrelevant to the topic.

Ben3110. You are a moron for starting this. Go and argue about which console is best with your ten year old friends that give a crap, because I don't.

hehehehe all this bickering tut tut

Seriously - why is it every time someone posts something about either an xbox, or a PS3 that the thread turns to rubbish fan boy nonsense?
I don't want to upset the mods on here as they do a fine job, but surely there must be warnings dished out of this kind of things. It happens in practically every thread relating to a console deal.
I come on to this forum to get information about DEALS as I'm sure most folk do, not to get completely versed on the ins and outs of what makes any console good or bad - we've heard it a millions times before.

Fair dues, it is useful on some threads to have background info on a product, or a comparable deal elsewhere - eg. TVs where there are multitudes of different models available. This isn't the case with consoles.

Sorry for going off topic, but really, it had to be said.

So, could I in theory, purchase a game with the network adapter, and return the game only, further down the line unused?
