These are excellent. I move my XBox around a lot, and it just works, reception is VERY good. Highly Recommended.
#9
I use one, its fine, gets a good reception 95% of the time, on the odd occasion it loses the link. Was a bit fussy to set up, but ok apart from that

Does anyone else think "(Required For Wireless Online/Live Play)" is a bit of a swizz? Technically they are accurate, but it seems to indicate you HAVE to buy this for xbox live, which of course you don't.

Thanks, heat added, great price.

Good price but I'm holding out just a little bit longer. I would like to see how other stores react to this.

Agreed. This might be required for wireless connection, but not for connection per se. It's clever marketing talk, but it's not very fair imo.

But still a HOT DEAL:)

UNBELIEVABLE! I ordered one of these from amazon at £45 LAST NIGHT - its currently showing as preparing for despatch and I can't cancel the order!! Gutted!

Do they still refund the diference if a price is reduced? I thought I read somewhere that they had stooped this.

I think this is a case where it is worth contacting them. They are generally pretty good about things like this, and in fact I had a similar situation with a book a year ago and they emailed me back within an hour saying they had refunded the difference. Worst case scenario, you could always reorder a 2nd and return the first....

Amazon stopped their Price Drop Guaruntee on September 1st - however they seem to let each customer have one goodwill refund.

Unfortunately Amazon abandoned their price "promise" a couple of months ago. So you may find their response is no...... However as Liddle says worthwhile contacting them.

If you do return the first one, they will deduct the postage costs.

I don't think the price is going to get any better. I think this is Amazons reaction to the Currys deal of adaptor and xbox live for £69.......

This deal won't last long - I'd buy it now if I were you.

Hella hot.

Although the signal I get through mine is akin to standing in the middle of the Blizzard with a mobile phone.

I have my xbox hardwired into my p.c, which in turn is wirelesly connected to my internet connection. I can access xbox live this way. Will buying this make a significant difference to my connection?

Wouldn't even go that far - perhaps "recommeded" for wireless use as I use my laptop paired with my 360 via ICS to get on Live without paying for any extra wireless hardware. Never get dropouts (touch wood)

Anyhow, this is a much more reasonable price for an official wireless adapter, thank god these are starting to come down to a sensible price!

excellent price, excellent product.

bought mine Jan 06, & its still working perfectly :)

i've heard about this way of connecting to Live, never tried it myself, but it wont be the better than connecting via wired/wireless direct to the router.
i've had my console on w/less for nearly 3yrs & i dont notice any difference connecting via either wired or w/less - both in online play & download speed :)

Its a piece of **** to set up.

Basically you need a computer with ethernet (Wired) and wireless.

Connect your computer via wireless as normal, use included cable to connect from xbox to ethernet port on computer. open network connections, and right-click properties on Local Area Connection, then TCP/IP, give it a ip address of 192.168.0.1 , subnet will automatically switch to 255.255.255.0 , and press ok.

Right click properties on Wireless Network, Sharing tab, and tick the top box.

That may well be all it takes, though you may need to give your xbox some info on the network page (manual):

ip: 192.168.0.2
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.0.1
dns: 192.168.0.1

Job done.

Note: If your wifi ip range is 192.168.0.x , then you should use another range, such as 172.0.20.x for you ethernet side.

Wow! Thanks for that - I'm going to give it a go later. This would be perfect as we have two 360's and there is not a chance I will buy two adaptors at the price they are. And one 360 is always sitting next to the wireless computer upstairs -- rep added, thanks very much

You'd think they would throw in a years free Live membership with these... well if it was anyone other than Microsoft you would....

Let us know if you have any problems as simple things like blocked ports (if you're sharing wireless) or a software firewall may get in the way. My software firewall (Kerio 2.1.5) needs disabling when I use Live as there's no way of setting a rule to stop it from limiting MTU. You'll know when everything is working correctly as the Live test on your 360 will pass everything and your NAT will appear "Open". :)

Will do - many thanks. Just tried it quickly without success, but I've no time to fiddle around today so will get back to you later if I still can't work it out after trying again - cheers, rep added

Just bought one in Tesco Home store for £25.71. Also I have been told they are in Asda for £30.
