Well.. some people may know i have been looking for the reciever seperatly but cannot get one cheaply. Went to gamestation Milton Keynes earlier on and saw the wireless pad with the reciever so i thought i would grab one as the controller is normally quite alot on its own. Install Xpadder for more support, Just played GRID on PC and its wkd.

Just looked on Game website and they are OOS at £32.29 RRP is about £40

Xpadder simulates keypresses and mouse movements using a gamepad. This allows you to use your controller to play PC games with poor or no joystick support (including DOS games in a Windows DOS box and Shockwave/Java internet games).

I had problems with the 360 pad and crossfire receiver, it kept knocking the soundcard off even though there appeared to be no hardware conflicts.
Somehow it fixed itself, but I'm aware others had the same problem.

You definitely need 3rd party software like that mentioned above as compatibility can be an issue.

Wireless 360 pad works really well with games like Womb Raider, GOW and GRID, gutted it didn't work for Splinter Cell :x

Absolutely right, but good for 3rd person shooters i.e. GOW, Womb raider and Splinter cell, must admit, GOW is good with the mouse 'n' keyboard, If only we could play peeps on XBOX live, we'd thrash them! :-D

No need to be sarcastic. At least our versions of Google are working - or were you simply too lazy to look up "Xpadder" yourself?

People can buy what they like without cinsulting you first and certainly some folk might have a particular reason for wanting one of these devices.

Ha I agree playing FPS having a mouse is a massive advantage but i play mouse and 360pad lol! I set up my games with pad for movement and mouse for aiming and shooting. You cant beat that :-D

Keyb/mouse for FPS/RTS - Wireless 360 controller for all your sim/driving needs.
#18
Dead Space was much easier to play using 360 controller than keyb/mouse combo btw.

It's extremely annoying that they seem to have stopped selling the crossfire dongle on it's own. I have 2 wireless 360 pads that I want to use with my PC, but I cannot find the crossfire for sale anywhere for a reasonable price. I cannot justify spending £25 for ANOTHER wireless pad...I think I might have to go 3rd party, waste of money and resources tho it might be.

Deal confirmed! Just picked one up now ;-)

@GreyScale *some* pcworld stores have the usb adaptor on its own for about £8. My local store hasn't had any since before xmas but your's might be different - worth checking out.

You do with this controller, really. With the official drivers, some games hate the triggers. That’s where XBCD 360 drivers come into play; you can configure the triggers to behave how you want. The problem with the XBCD 360 drivers, they don't work with the wireless controllers.

The problem with the official drivers, some games ignore them and the older games that use direct input not xinput, treat the triggers on one axis, so if you hold both triggers down, the computer treats this as no triggers being held down.
So the XBCD 360 drivers, you can put the triggers on separate axis or even change them, so they act like normal buttons.

I prefer the wired controller with XBCD 360 drivers, than the wireless controller.

You're using 64-bit vista aren't you? If you are, there's your problem.

Twitch gaming is too easy and accurate after a while and feels too far removed from the action for me.
I enjoyed Half Life 2 more with the pad, added to the tension.

well if you subsitute the mouse as the gun in your hand..thats how it'd move realistically.

but hey each to their own :-)

Meh, I cant use a mouse and keyboard setup, it gives me terrible RSI, so I have to use a pad, which does make me lose at FPS's all the time :)

Can I just say I have a cross fire adaptor and it works brilliantly for people who want to use their xb360 pads on the pc. For me it was a brilliant way to 'plug' 4 pads i already own into the pc.

I use the crossfire to play roms of classics on my pc and it works a treat for that purpose.

I also use it with external software to control my music playin on my pc from another room by using my xbox pad as a remote. I.e. in the summer I sat in the garden with my speakers in the window having a bbq and used the pad outside to skip tracks turn it up etc.

Not to mention the fact it never fails to amaze the geek within us all when I show it my friends and family. :p

...all thanks to the cross fire adaptor!!! :w00t:

Cheers for that dude.

Is it expired then?

I got a pad a few weeks ago for a fiver more than this deal, and that was after scouring froogle + adding Quidco :(

It's not so good for FPSs, it's good for racers like GRID. I'm waiting for SF4 ;)

This is only £29.99 at PC World if you reserve online (£49.99 shelf price).

Can you add other wireless controllers using just one crossfire adapter? Thanks.
