Welcome to HotUKDeals from me too and Thanks for your first post :)

Got one of these, cost me £55 so this is the cheapest I have seen.

! question, does it work on UK Pal consoles though?
#4
Only downside is the chance of being hit by customs charges which will take the price to the same or more than what you would pay in the UK

A lot of people will say they have never had to pay customs charges but their is a chance with it being above the £18 import limit then customs can charge you

I got one last week and yes it works fine with UK Pal consoles.

Cheapest P&P is around £1.50 i think

PAL COMPATIBILITY
I recieved my Asian wireless adapter today, and i'm very happy with it on my Pal console. Thanks Play-Asia for you excellent service

Fantasic Device!
Having used a Linksys wireless device with my PS2 to pretty poor effect, I was sceptical to say the least about another wireless device. I'm glad to say it's a strong signal to my router upstairs. My live connections is always strong and hasn't wavered.
--------------------------------------

The only thing about this adapter is all the instructions are in chinese I think but that isn't a big hurdle. I was connected in less than 30 minutes even with a WEP encrypted wireless router.

Good price, great product, thoroughly recommended.

I dont have a wireless modem at home, will I need one?

Is there a guide online to get you up and running? As I don't really think my Chinese is up to scratch these days.

You will need a wireless router yes.
Im sure there must be plenty of guides online.

I know this is probably a long shot, but does anyone know if one of these would work with an Xbox 1?
#9
Unless your Xbox 1 has a USB connection??? As I assume thats the connection used.

There are cheaper wireless adapters that work on both Xbox and Xbox360 made by 3rd party manufacturers

Any idea what they would be called for the Xbox 1? I think that just about all the ones Ive looked at are more expensive, and require a seperate power supply (Which I dont really like the idea of, as it seems a bit excessive)

Bah, I should have spotted that. ta

I presume that one was done tongue in cheek. Ebooks indeed :-D

I use the Netgear WGE111 on my 360 and used it with my original xbox prior to that and haven't had a single problem to date.

Just in case it matters my router is the Netgear DG834GT.
#18
I've got the D-Link DI-624 Wireless Router, and a D-Link DWL-G820 Wireless Gaming/Network Adaptor. Works a treat for my Xbox 360 (and original Xbox)...and because they are both Air Extreme G products, I get 108mbps as opposed to the normal 54mbps for 802.11g products. The router cost me £40 and the gaming adaptor cost £21.
#19
The NETGEAR WGE111 is available at ebuyer for £35.48 with Google checkout.

Are there any advantages in having a gaming adapter that isn't a Microsoft one? I am thinking about getting one but not sure which to go for.

I can use my Linksys Wireless-G Gaming Adapter with anything that's got an ethernet connection, not just the xbox. The downside is it needs it's own power supply and it's more bulky.

Play-asia also do $5 off $50 order vouchers (if you've ordered before from them you usually get one in the parcel) so if you can get one of those it's even cheaper still. :) I binned my last two thinking I'd never spend $50 in one go!

Just to note this is a .pdf file not actually an item, so beware.

Item is "XBox Wireless Connection D.I.Y. eBook ". Reckon page 3 or 4 they will say, buy a wireless connector :)

You don't need an official M$ connector, rather pick yourself up a wireless bridge (manufactorer of your choice) and assuming you already have a wireless network at home, you can use this to get urself online no probs.

Netgear WGE111 is one example, can pick them up for about £40 online.

Hi, do you have a link to where you got the gaming adapter from?
#25
Sorry, mate it was about a year and a half ago and I've deleted whatever emails I had from the company I bought it from...however you can probably get one on ebay for about the same price. D-Link may even have a newer version available for the same price now!

And it only does WEP security!

If you can afford it - go with the MS one. It's got seamless integration into the dashboard for configuration, uses the USB for power (so you don't need yet another brick consuming power), and clips neatly onto the back of the 360 (or the HDDVD drive if you've got it). It's also 802.11a compatible if you can get a router to match.

Only the poor (or cheapskates) go for 3rd party options ;-)

No....many of us went wireless before Microsoft did....hence why we have bought 3rd party gaming adaptors, as these came out long before Microsoft's efforts! As for seamless integration....all I had to do for mine was enter the encryption key I have for my router...after that my Xbox and 360 automatically detected all the correct settings for my D-Link Router and Adaptor. Couldn't be simpler!

can everyone tell me whats the best adapter please?!

thats a tough thing to do....all I can tell you is about my own experiences of my D-Link setup, which is excellent. Never had a problem. Many peope will say the same about Netgear and Belkin as well. I would recommend you check out some independent review websites to get a non-biased opinion. http://www.thinkbroadband.com might have some reviews or links to reviews.

Here's a couple of $5 off vouchers I got when i bought my wireless adapter off play-asia. I'll not be using them so figure someone can.

WO-VDK-HXU
HL-VDW-NLH

Minimum spend is $50 and they expire on 6th Sept. First come, first serve :)

If you'd post to say if you've used any of them, I can then edit them out of this post.

I have been looking at the official one, but would it not be better for me to get one of the following in case I want to start playing PC games via web/better surfing (I currently use a dongle but my computer to connect wirelessly to a trouter in a housemates bedroom)

Belkin 802.11g Wireless Ethernet Adapter - Bridge - EN, 802.11b, 802.11g
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-802-11g-Wireless-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00030I18A/ref=cm_lmf_tit_6_rsrssi0/203-5299861-8243157

Belkin 802.11g Wireless G Gaming Adapter
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-802-11g-Wireless-Gaming-Adapter/dp/B0002AGJOE/ref=pd_sbs_ce_1/203-5299861-8243157

What is the main difference between these (other than the £10 price difference)?
#35
You could always just buy a seperate adapter for the PC. Can pick up a good USB one for £10-15.

Isn't Play-Asia a HK company?
My thread on DealExtreme was closed because they aren't UK based, yet their prices are often better than Play-Asia

We allow a small number of non-UK companies... with admin's pre-approval.

Play-asia are usually reliable. The only thing you have to be wary of is that if the value exceeds £18 you may be charged import taxes.
