This item is so overpriced - it should be about £10
#2
agreed, a cheaper (free) alternative is to plug your xbox into your pc or laptop via the network cable then bridge your internet and xbox connections together...
#3
might sound a daft question this but basically Ive bought my lad a 360 for christmas, will it not connect wirelessly to the internet without one of these?

Afraid not you have to have one of these.

Nope, it doesn't have built in wireless. For wireless play you'll need one of these.
#6
correct raefil, unless you do what's said in the message above yours
#7
My question is why not buy the one from game with a 20p birthday card or something lol? Game also has free delivery, plus Qudico plus reward card points :D
#8
The robbing barstewards!! Get you to buy the console and then charge you through the nose for an essential extra..

To go straight from the Xbox 360 to your router with wireless you need one of these or there are one or two other adapters that work on the 360 and they are on amazon for around the same price i believe but I'm not sure if they perform better. If you have a wireless laptop that would be near the 360 then read the post below.

My understanding is this wireless adapter does not support WPA2 encryption.

Better off buying a wireless ethernet bridge so at least you can use it for something else!

The Buffalo WLI-TX4-AG300N unit supports dual band including 'N' and has 4 ethernet ports so you can use for other items where you need remote ethernet ports for about £52.
#11
Overpriced because they are currently selling the 360 for less than it cost to manufacture so they have to make some profit from the extras.
RJ45 rules anyway ;]

It is no way essential. Don't try to hide your oversight on Microsoft - its been this way since the console launched 2 years ago.

I've been using my laptop to connect (before my subscription expired but I usually play with my bro anyway) because this piece of kit was well overpriced but at under £40, I would say it's a lot more reasonable now.

I know it does seem like a kick in the teeth to have to buy this separately but you can now buy the console with a few games and a couple pads for about £160 plus this kit and live for about £70, which means it's still miles cheaper than the PS3.

Plus because of the high volume of customers with 360, a lot of the games are actually cheaper over time because they can thrash out more units and easier developing tech make this worthwhile.

Just cancelled my Amazon order (out of stock for at least a week) and ordered from this site for £5 cheaper... Cheer MadMatt!
#16
Went into Game at Junction 32 Shopping Centre -Castleford and got one of these for £33 (the old price less vat change) and no need to purchase anything else to get the lower price. Not sure if this is for all game stores.

Doesn't work if you want to connect as a media centre extender though unfortunately. Plugged my xbox into my laptop which connects to live fine, but cannot see the MCE 05 server machine, presumably due to DNS issues.

why can't u just use a Netgear one for like 15 guid? This is not a hot deal, cold.

Wrong. They broke even a long time ago and might be making a profit.

Also, anyone try and find an equivalent adapter for less than £25?? Can't???
Well don't say it should be a tenner then.
#20
Game still got this on offer instore...£34.99 When bought with anything (i.e £1 gift card...)
#21
is wireless really good (fast, reliable) enough for gaming anyway? i mean for both this and the ps3, whatever.. i'm surprised if people find it good enough.. i'd wire the machine in.

These types of manufacturers always make more money from the software/peripherals (so do store ie GAME who have about a 70% mark up, it's the way all businesses in this market are run)... does it really matter? It's worth what people want to pay for it and whatever makes them a profit... this seems like a good deal to me x
#24
just underr £35 at game

Would people be complaining if the adapter was built into the console, but the console cost an extra £35? Probably not.

Not everyone wants or needs wireless, the option is there if you do. I imagine if Sony had offered it as optional it would've been a good thing for the people who don't require it as they could get the console cheaper.

Stop complaining.

Voted hot.

Its not that they make a 70% markup or whatever, its that people are always comparing this to a cheap, less compatible adapter. It really shows the knowledge of the average consumer.

They have about a 70% mark up... I used to work for the company LOL This is GAMEs own branded software, they make very little of selling the games and next to nothing on the consoles... :santa:

I'd rather get non-recorded delivery, then you don't have to stay in all day for the post.

Voted cold. Cheaper in-store at GAME at the moment (£35)

I think with 3rd party ones the connection might not be as *stable* as it's not microsoft *optimized*?

You can *think* what you like, but you are talking absolute *bobbins* :)

These are good, but no better or worse than any other half-decent wireless bridge.
