Does anyone know if this can be used for extending an existing subscription, or for new subscribers only?

My subscription doesn't expire until April. I'm assuming this will still be valid by then?

Cheers.

The 12 month ones can all extend subscriptions. It's usually only ones less than a month that can't extend.

Voted Hot:thumbs up:

they did say it will automatically be renewed... that's why the card i used to buy it has been closed, so they wont get far trying. is there is no way to remove the card from the system...? tut tut, Microsoft... you wounder how bill gates became a billionaire.

For Those of you stuck with the credit card details on you xbox 360:

Removing Credit Card from Xbox Dashboard

-changes went into effect March 16 allowing users to request their CC details be removed
-a call must be placed to Xbox Support requesting removal
-upon request, the issue will be escalated to the proper billing team to expedite removal
-process takes between 5-10 days normally
-any attempts prior to March 16 may not be valid so please call again with a new request

You need to get the card removed from the system. A friend of mines had his Xbox live account banned because they tried for three months to get money from his expired card and when they couldn't it was banned even though he had purchased another year. Last I heard there was still no joy in him getting it back.

Total Noob question here
Can someone explain the benefits of Xbox live to me or what I am missing, i have about 20 360 games and usually play about 3-4 hours a week, I tried the free 48 hr access thing I got with the 360, but what i did see didnt impress.
#17
I doubt game will pay out on the quidco. The last time I ordered from game with a voucher, the quidco tracked but came back declined.....
#18
You can get this £1 cheaper on ebuyer at the mo using the £10 off google checkout and supersaver delivery at the mo. I ended up getting it from game as I had £10 in points to get shot of.
#19
I'm fairly sure I didn't use my credit card to sign up to XBox Live, as I had a 12 month subscription card to use in the first place. You don't have to give a card at sign up do you?

Depends on how and what you play.

I play most nights for a couple of hours, I like multiplayer games where I am playing against real people as opposed to computer A.I. As a result of this I have a lot of regular people that I play and chat with so in short, the main thing you get is that social play against friends.

If you just like playing on your own with single player games and don't enjoy communicating with others I'd say it isn't worth it.

It only comes into it's own when you have developed a small list of friends to enjoy it with IMHO.

Why is this called a halo 3 subscription though?

Voted hot anyway, but I'll be using ebuyer google check out.
#24
I used a 12month prepay card, so you don't need a credit card to sign up. Probably going to get this as a gift for someone, so good deal.

For the person wondering about Live, it's basically so you can play with others over the net. I play Battlefield and Halo 3 at the moment and since getting live I have barely touched the offline gaming. Nothing beats shooting a whiney American kid in the face on Halo.

On a funny note my cousin thought it a good idea to get a quick 1 month sub on his credit card while he was visiting so he'd not mess with my achievements, he only just found out he's been charged £5 a month for at least six months.

It's scandalous that Xbox can just keep charging and don't allow you to remove a card from the system itself and require you to beg over the phone.

The sole reason is that the card has a picture of Master Chief on it. Other than that it is in no way linked to Halo 3, you just get 13 months for the price of 12. Sort of celebrating the fact that they've released Halo 3 I suppose

p.s. Rainbow 6 Vegas is awesome online. Barely played the offline story mode yet.

Thanks for this, just ordered it and used some points that I had on my game reward card, got the £3.00 off too, hopefully 11% quidco too.

found this on Digital Spy:
Xbox Live to be offered free to all users :

Microsoft Xbox 360 users who also own a broadband connection will soon be able to enjoy a completely free Gold access, after the firm unveiled plans for a special promotional weekend.

For the weekend beginning November 23, all Xbox 360 users with broadband will be able to log on to the full-blown Gold service free of charge.

Gold membership currently costs users £39.99 per year, which includes all the benefits of online gaming and access to all areas of the service.

Microsoft is also lining up a number of events for its promotional weekend, including competitions and exclusive downloads.
#31
Can't see it being offered free, as they would then have to re-imburse all the previous renewals? surely..
EDIT:
Some truth in it, XBL GOLD for free between November 23-26 2007.
