Extra cost for metallic options, rubber bumpers.

Nice idea but too expensive really for what is still only a basic controller with a few custom decals and stuff. Also bit disappointing there is no launch offer, especially on the E3 week where there seems to be promotions all over the place, guess MS blew their budget on the Mixer freebies or are just being greedy...

I'm not trying to convince you, but its not a few (any) custom decals at all. Its 19 different colours on 6 different components, metallic options in 2 of them, grips optional, and the promotional offer is free engraving, worth £7.99

Heat. Lovin it. Ordering one with engraving toneet for sure.

from the pads I have had they have had shorter life expectancy than a 360 pad, not worth the money in customizing at all.

Fair enough, it certainly has it's place, just not really for me. If I was paying that kind of price I would expect some functionality, quality or reliability/lastability benefits in the actual controller e.g. elite parts rather than a custom aesthetic applied to a standard controller. That said, I haven't had any reliability issues with the standard controllers and for me the different colours (blue and red particularly) are plenty pretty enough already...

Its frustrating that the main colour (body) and the triggers plus the bumpers cant coincide nicely if you want metallics.

I.e. I wanted a black and white, but if go metallic, theres no metallic white - just silver - and you cant make the bumpers metallic... which now just makes it look weird with white bumpers and silver triggers.

The grips for a fiver or whatever it is is a no brainer. Think ill have a play with a few options see what I can get to work.

PS Theres no 'decals' as someone mentioned. Its just the controller, no nonsense/fluff.

Yup, US Only, Just launched here. The metallic options and grips are new for everyone, along with a few new colours.

This does actually appeal to me but I do have to scoff at the price a bit. I remember discovering the Design Lab last year when it was still exclusive to the US and I'm fairly certain, although maybe don't quote me on this, that it was far cheaper than it is now. I think it was maybe $50 or so? It's a shame to see such a price hike to accompany the UK release, although I suppose the free engraving is a nice touch.

I think it's a good price myself for a custom controller considering the standard switch controllers are a similar price.

Always $80 as far as I can find out. - https://www.onmsft.com/news/new-xbox-one-s-customizable-controller-can-now-ordered-xbox-design-lab

I've been looking today, and haven't found anything in particular. Think I'll just wait for the next Wuaki deal

I suspect you could do the double your credit for free deal posted the other day for this? Anyone tried? Not sure on the limitations of O2/the deal?
