Trust me  and you cant delete your card details which sucks
#9
so can you create a new account as my sons ran out last week and i told them to wait til i get paid on fri?
#10
On the Membership screen it says £4.99 for me
#11
Yeah - good deal but it's a bitch to get your card details removed from your 360 afterwards and they'll keep billing the full normal monthly amount until you do so - so nice deal and I'll vote hot for that, but buyer beware! They're planning on you either not noticing or not caring enough to cancel after the 1st month...

(Now, how long before the ps3 owners jump in and starts shouting about how it should be free anyway?)

i have it now! showing 1 month for a £1, 3 month £14.99 and a year £39.99 can this be cancelled online after the month do you know? thanks
#15
This doesn't seem to show up as an option on my Gold account. I'd be wary of giving them my card details even if it did though. From what I've heard it's almost impossible to get your details taken off their system should you decide to cancel. My sub doesn't run out until 2012 anyways :p. Remember all 360s come with 3 1 month gold trials attached for new accounts anyway.

so its a con to get your card details so MS can rip you off

Yup, pretty much what I said.
Hot for the deal, but make sure you know what you're getting into - you're going to have to phone them toget your card details removed and to stop them repeat charging.
If you're good at that kind of thing it's a good deal. If, like most people, you're lazy/forgetful/apathetic, then you're better off buying a full year subscription elsewhere.

And I'm happy for you that you've got what you feel is a good deal.
And it is a good deal, provided you know you're going to have to cancel over the phone and most likely deal with someone asking you why you want to cancel, wouldn't you rather stay, etc etc - There's absolutely no reason Microsoft couldn't put an easy "cancel subscription" or "delete stored card details" option on the 360 - they make it easy enough to put your details in, it ought to be just as easy to remove them.
But it isn't.
Hence why I think it's important to inform people of this. (This is the one reason I do my sub via scratchcard bought from online shops when I see a good deal - MS aren't getting my card details tied into a subscription)

Honestly, I'm happy that you've got a good deal (and others if they want it) but I'd be interested to know how easy it was to cancel it at the end of the month. And even if it DOES turn out to be easy, it's still not going to be as easy as selecting a 'cancel subscription' button could have been is it?

But that's never going to happen, is it? This is the whole point of this promotion, to catch the unwary
and fleece lots of people for an extra few months they didn't realise they'd be paying for if they weren't careful.

No argument from me there.

Yes, you can remove them. Or rather, YOU can't; you need to ring MS up and ask them politely to remove them FOR you.
Slightly different.
The subtle distinction between the two is what gets my goat.

good deal

As mentioned by a few members it can be a pain getting ur card details removed and took me 3 calls to get it sorted and even then they charged my card for 12 months then waited 2 weeks for a refund.

Hopefully ms have made it easier to get card details removed

Well, that's certainly news to me. How long has this been in place and can anyone else confirm it?
I belive the popular online acronym is POIDH?
A quick search online for "cancel 360 live subscription" still brings up page after page of other people finding this option didn't exist and you're the first person I've seen state otherwise.
Got a url of the page where you cancel?

From memory, I think he's right. Pretty sure I did this before, albeit a long time ago.

Blimeh.
You know what?
I think I may have found it - https://live.xbox.com/en-GB/Flows/EditCreditCard/SelectPaymentInstrument.aspx
Obviously, you have to be logged in, but that appears to be a page where you can "Add, remove and update your payment options."
How come there's not been any kind of big fanfare about this page existing?
Thus, I stand corrected, and shall be giving out rep to those who knew of this. I'm not above admitting I was wrong. I'm actually fairly stunned this option is there and I'd not heard a peep about it until now - has it been there long?
(Admittedly, I still don't trust MS, sods law would mean when I went to unsubscribe I wouldn't be able to find that page again ;)
#37
I went to look at my xbox live as soon as I saw this and there is absolutely nothing! I guess Iw as too slow to get it or just really blind and did not see it.
#38
Are you all dumb? Getting your card details removed is easy now.. they changed it a month or two ago so you can just simply remove your card on xbox.com in the account settings section..
banned#39
considering Live has been down for 24 hours, this seems yet another way of Microsoft saying 'sorry' to their loyal as hell fanbase BUT in the meantime, trying to con them into forgetting they signed up and charging them full price next month...

is actually fairly easy to remove cards from the console, all you need to do is to log into the xbox live website using your gamertag email and password then go on acount management and its in there somewhere ive done it before with not much dificulty :)
