I have a zavvi gift card/voucher (UK and Northern Ireland), can I redeem it?
Notice to Gift Card / Gift Voucher holders (UK and Northern Ireland) - 31st December 2008

All Gift Card / Gift Voucher holders are required to write to the Joint Administrators at the following address, quoting their Gift Card / Gift Voucher number (s), enclosing original Gift Card / Gift Voucher (s) and quoting their full name and address for return correspondence.

No Gift Card / Gift Voucher (s) will be redeemed in store:

zavvi Vouchers

c/o The Joint Administrators

Ernst & Young LLP

100 Barbirolli Square

Manchester

M2 3EY

Legally the Administrators have a duty to act in the interest of all creditors to realise company assets and distribute funds according to strict legal priorities as defined by the Insolvency Act and are therefore unable to prefer one creditor over another.

As soon as the Directors became aware of the problems with EUK (27th November 2008), zavvi's main supplier, they sought to protect customer interests by lodging funds into a trust account. Until this time the Directors had no reason to believe there would be any issue regarding the sale of Gift Cards / Gift Vouchers from their stores. The sale of Gift Cards / Gift Vouchers was terminated on 4th December 2008. It is hoped that customers who purchased zavvi Gift Cards / Gift Vouchers from 27th November 2008 will receive a refund in respect of these Gift Cards / Gift Vouchers.

Regrettably all other Gift Card / Gift Voucher holders have been asked to make an unsecured claim with the Joint Administrators, in doing so they will be eligible to share in any distribution of monies available to unsecured creditors. Please follow the instructions outlined above for Gift Cards / Gift Vouchers purchased after 27th November to make a claim as an unsecured creditor.

We appreciate customer's frustrations but we do ask that all customers who have Gift Card / Gift Voucher (s) follow the correct procedure outlined above.

Personally I would walk in to a store with my gift card, pick up items to the value of it and walk out, if they stop you then you have paid already, technically.

I know, but technically you have paid the money to them, you have proof, its a store voucher, they took the money, now they should hand over the goods!

Yeah I know and I agree. I said the same thing in another thread which is why I said it was stupid LOL

Also someone accused me of being a thief if I did that which I also kinda agree with as I do think if I did what me and you suggested I would be arrested and prosecuted for theft.

The job that I do I can't afford a criminal conviction.

I have £100 worth a Zavvi vouchers bought in Oct 2008, didn't use them because I was wating for the january sales.. :x

My son has £75 worth again bought early Nov.

So that's £175 down it drain.

losing £175 vs a conviction. I'll stand losing the money.
#14
Just go to the shop, slap the gift vouchers on the counter, and say that you're going to walk out of the store with a handful of goods and no more questions are going to be asked. Considering they're all losing their jobs anyway I'm sure they won't care.

Having said that, I wouldn't go ahead with that crafty plan myself.
#15
was in meadowhell zavvi and it stated that 10% off everything except a couple of things and one of the exceptions was video games. wonder why? also wonder if its all stores?

as for the vouchers not read the small print but surely you should send them off to the administrators as soon as possible as you will have a good chance of getting some money back, first come first served. or sell em on ebay, not many people will know bout them not taking the vouchers. wrong i know, but its every man for themselves.

Two things:

1. Take a chill pill

2. Send off your vouchers / codes to the administrators, as it clearly states on the websites and in the stores if you ask anyone.

End of story

Wrong and illegal sadly. The gift vouchers were bought from Zavvi, all products in store now belongs to the administrators. So yeah, it'd be theft as the administrators owe you nothing

I got my self one of these the day before chirstmas eve from Zavvi for this price also! rated hot

Don;t bother going to any store in hertfordshire. I had zero luck finding these in woolworths, neither in zavvi all over hertfordshire (and believe me i tried most of those damn stores). gooddeal though, nonetheless.

Back on topic, I did manage to get a couple of the 2100 points cards in Norwich yesterday, one for myself and another for my mate.
They also had a 4200 card, was going to be £26.99, still there as far as I know.

He sounds pretty chilled to me, considering he has just effectively lost £175.
I imagine that the voucher holders are fairly far down the list of creditors and in any event it will take some while for it all to the sorted.
Bad luck Mush001

PS Good deal for anyone who can find them.
#22
I'm very chilled, I don't think I'll waste the price of a stamp to send these in when I stand zero chance of getting a penny back.
#23
Go into Zavvi and keep trying to spend them asap. I was in my local woolies second to last day and the woman in front of me used vouchers, one till girl queried if they were still to accept them and the other shrugged her shoulders in a "so what, why should the customer suffer" type of way, accepted the voucher and handed out just over £10 change in cash. I think you will find sypathetic, disgrunteld or unbothered till staff eventually, they won't be up for an argument, i doubt most would report a shoplifter at present. Choose busy periods and the "do you really care" line if need be. No need to break the law just play on their consciences a little and eventually you'll come good i'm sure.

With the greatest respect if you can't even be bothered to try you are either very well off, lazy or a fool and IMHO you don't really deserve to get anything back.... Send them to me because I'd damn sure risk the cost of a stamp, clearly provision is there so stop cutting your nose off to spite your face and at least try to get your sons christmas money back if nothing else!!!

I think it was actually just excluding games hardware, or at least that was the case in the Leeds store.
#27
yeah it excludes games harware, ipods, and virgin mobile phones everything else is 10% off
#28
As far as I can tell this is the cheapest you can get points in any demonination. £13.49 is a great price - the cheapest 4200 packs you can get are over £30. If you've got games like Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Lips etc...worth stocking up.
#29
Was just going to post this as standard search yielded no results but remembered to check advanced this time!

Just bought myself a pack in Zavvi by Liverpool Street (London) - still had quite a few in there and actually i think the stock room had loads more than the display cases!

Defo the cheapest way to get points at the moment!
#30
I got a couple of 2100 cards in Zavvi at Brunswick Centre (new Russel Square tube station) yesterday, had some 4200 cards for £27 with discount in there as well.
#31
Sorry - are all you purchasers Virgin credit card holders? There's no general 10% discount in my local Zavvi. Though £15 for the 2100 points is still pretty good so I picked one up!
