Is there a cheaper deal than this? Please post if so, £12.99 was the cheapest I found.

Probs cause you can pick up 12 months for around £20 on Ebay..think I paid £21 or something with 1 month free (13 for 12) so that could be part of it

I got 13 months for $49 from getxboxcodes.com (or something like that) , which at the time was 2:1 so about £25.

Ahh I see. Still, it's hardly comparing like for like - would imagine most stuff posted on HUKD can be got much cheaper on Ebay.

yh defo, but think in this case Ebay is usually the first stop, when mine runs out in like 4 months, ebay for me without even looking to be honest

whizzkid dont think most things are cheaper on ebay than HUKD you just have to check. Dont believe everything you read. As ODB says 1st stop ebay or if u see a great deal on HUJD then check ebay or google products. Thats why urs is voted freezing.

However I find that ebay can be vastly overpriced compared to some of the stuff on here as well.
Take the roberts RD59 radio. People who have bought it from Comet at £18 (after being made aware on here) are now selling it on ebay at higher prices.

Always been a bit dubious about using US codes for my LIVE - do they pretty much work every time or do you have to fudge it with US Live accounts etc?
#10
£25 for 13months from jasper1675.com - I know the site looks cheap, but you're protected as payment is through paypal - I took the plunge and got my code through within hours, well worth a visit.

no fudging required, punched code in and got immediate confirmation from MS.

You're right Cozworth806
But also here you don't get half the shisters that you get on fleabay ...... and the P&P isn't a ripoff like it is on fleabay....and there's someone who you can complain to if it goes wrong, unlike fleabay....and you can normally exchange goods if they're faulty, unlike fleabay......

apart from that there isn't much difference

At the moment the Xbox Live codes are region free - in other words you can buy Xbox Live codes anywhere and use them anywhere too. This is different than with Xbox Live Marketplace Points (used to buy DLC), which ARE region locked. Buy US points and you have to use them on a US account. This isn't too bad as long as the content you buy isn't region locked also!

There are rumours that the region free Xbox Live Sub codes will be changing to region locked at the November update, so if you're looking to capitalise on this, I'd think about doing it soon.

The benefit of buying from Ebay is (as long as you buy from someone who has lots of positive feedback for the codes) that you normally get it through in a couple of hours via Email.

Seems like I'm the only idiot on here paying £4.99 per month...Have you ever tried cancelling XBOX Live subscriptions?!?!?! It's not easy :?

There's a lot to be said for scratchcards over perpetual subscriptions via a Credit Card!

I'm not looking to start a console war or anything (since I own neither a 360 or a PS3), but isn't the service provided by Sony for the PS3 similar to the 360 one but free? How come Microsoft are still charging for their service?

The PSN (PS3's service) isn't as good as Xbox Live. Speaking with people who have both online subs, say the difference is there but not enough to warrant an annual cost. IMHO I don't think you'll see it being a paid-for service within the next 12 months, purely because both competitors (PS3 and Wii) both offer online gaming for free.

I don't think you will see Live free(it is only 40-50p a week if you buy over the net anyway) as MS checks everything that passes through by using dedicated servers and that cost them a lot of money(except EA who out of choice use their own) that is why it has the edge as independent software houses will favor the 360 as they do not have to pay for their own servers like they do on the PS3 and WII .
The next 360 console update is going to have so many new options that it really could see the 360 jump well ahead as far as online gaming goes and the revenue MS are making from Live must be huge and that must be putting serious pressure on the others who are having to absorb the cost themselves(and so are third party devs),It won't be hurting Nintendo much because it has huge hardware and software sales but the PS3 is in a much worse position and "Home" etc may be where fees start to become involved in one form or another....

Very few games have dedicated servers. For the majority, one 360 in the 'room' will host the game and the others will connect to it. This hardly seems fair and TBH if there's revenue involved, the person hosting the game should get some method of payment (ie ms points) as a thank you for using his paid-for bandwidth. If MS announce that all games will be on dedicated servers, you would see a lot more people jump onto the online gaming scene.

You also have to remember that with the exception of online play (and being able to download demos a week earlier), there is no difference in the Silver (free) Account. Paying for the privilege of MS to 'hook you up' with someone online is disgraceful - the likes of ASE and GameSpy have been doing this free for years. You can't even use tunnel software (unless you are in the immediate area to the person you're playing) such as xlink-kai since MS imposed a ping limit of 30ms for connecting on LAN games (I'd love to get this ping on most online games TBH!), so you're left with no option but to pay.

PSN isn't looking that bad - those who use it are happy and fully accept it as a free service. It's irrelevent how much per week XBL is, the principle of having to pay someone so you can connect your console to someone else's with your own broadband connection will eventually stop.
