Thanks for this - waiting for worms 2 to go down

Some good stuff here.
I enjoyed the demo of Peggle so that is top of my list to get. Never got into the Worms 2: Armageddon demo but I think it might be bought as well.
Got Duke Nukem 3D a few months back and got bored after 10 minutes.
Battlefield 1943 is great.

Any good points deals around ?

As I mentioned, game do a deal where if you trade in Certain Games you can get 1200 points for 99p. One of those games is Far Cry 2. Pop down to Blockbuster and get a copy for a fiver, then go to game and trade it in.

So 1200 points = £5.99
(Roughly 2100 points for £10)

This deal available for a silver membership aswell?

Don't think so, but you can go with the '£1 for one month' offer and then click 'cancel renewal' at the end of the month.

The 'Cancel renewal' has to be done online. Remember that.

the price on xbla games need to come down permanently imo, some of them are very overpriced

Which ones would you say are overpriced? I mean £10 for a game isn't that bad is it?
#9
thegroutch
£10 for a game that was out on the original xbox is a bit steep for me

Cod classic right?

I think it's not that bad to pay 800/1200 points for it. It's a great game, taking you back to Cod's roots.

Some great titles/prices here, heat/repped

Where do you get your information from btw? ive seen links in the past that detail the different deals for different regions, but i always forget to bookmark it.

Here is the link to the marketplace:

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584109d9/

For some reason they've just called it 'Winterbottom', which is probably why it wasn't coming up in any searches. It's a good game - similar to Braid is some respects, but I had to give up at the later levels as the brain-bendingness of the puzzles got ridiculous for me!

Get Peggle & Battlefield 1943 both excellent games! if you don't have em

If you want Peggle and have a PC, you can get the full version of Peggle Nights for free. Go to www.popcap.com, sign up for a popcap passport, then 'recommend a friend' using another email address. That email address gets sent a link to Peggle nights to download, job done! :)

And it's actually a very enjoyable game, I've gone through the main part once and I'm working through the hundreds of tasks, bonuses, awards, etc.
#24
Duke Nukem is 59p on iphone
The exact same game, so yeah I do agree they need to come down in price
#25
I may just get COD classic I think.

Damn you spare points card and you're tempting ways.

Of course they're overpriced, especially as in general they never drop in price over time like a retail release would... these occasional drops for a week don't count.

How can they represent good value when old, very basic arcade games, many from SNES era or earlier are in the main the same price they first released at, and many cost more then countless excellent full retail releases you can pick up for peanuts preowned in CEX or Gamestation.

I suppose that's true. Maybe they should gradually come down in price.

This price drop makes Worms 2 the same price as games like Pac-Man...

Would have impacted sales too...

Hardly!

Duke Nukem 3D (iPhone/iPod Touch).
"The game includes the primary 3 episodes and all of the main sound fx, but does not include background music in-game. There is no multiplayer option and the framerate tends to fall dramatically when multiple enemies are on-screen. Lacks mirror reflection effects and the ability to peer through windows to outdoor areas."

Duke Nukem 3D (Xbox Live).
This version has the primary 3 episodes AND the Atomic Edition extra levels features the ability to "rewind" the game to any prior point upon dying, save clips of gameplay, and play co-operatively online, as well as the standard "Dukematch" online mode.

To really highlight the rewind ability - you can download a saved clip from the leaderboards or a friend, watch their gameplay and then at ANY point decide to jump in and start playing the game from the point you are watching. If you see them make a mistake near the end of the level you can try yourself and see how well you do at completing it.

At 400 points it's a must for anyone who played the original on the PC but doesn't have it anymore.

tbh mate, not everyone has an iphone, and the controls on those games are absolute toilet... granted the prices on xbla could benefit from bein a bit cheaper, but come on man, it's CLASSIC gaming mate! first xbla game i picked up was original Doom... I saw Doom 2 arrive on xbla the other day and went straight in there! whatever the price, you can't beat the good old games that flood you with those feelings you got when you first played these games as a kid many moons ago! ;-)
#31
Yeah dont get me wrong, I own the game on iphone and XBLA, and I paid more than their current prices for both of them, I just think that the arcade would be better with iphone app pricing.
#32
OP this is an absolutely AWESOME post, though it came at completely the wrong time for me as I am currently skint... but dude, cheers for postin this up! XBLA seem to be doing quite a lot of these multiple bargains atm... trouble is I keep buying 'em when they're first out, and then a couple of months later they get put on deal! lol! Ah well, at least I can proudly say I was involved in the Battlefield 1943 mission to unlock the planes only mode! :-)
To all other users, don't hesitate with these quality games, especially if you got points at hand!
Duke Nukem is brutal, even to this day.
COD classic (one on the list I don't own) is epic and a mile-stone in itself.
Peggle is just endless fun, and with a few mates and a few beers can be even greater! Hours of playability!
Serious Sam HD is just mindlessly fantastical fun! Loved this game originally, and now it's lookin lush!
Battlefield 1943 is a fantastic game! And for an arcade game it plays like a full release game!
And finally Worms 2, well I don't own this one either, but had it on PC and it's just fantastic! Instant classic!

So... enjoy these GREAT offers peops, and hopefully I catch some of you online in multiplayer sessions! ;-)

ah yeah totally mate! if the prices were similar to that then they'd make more money out of it in the long run surely! I think that 800 points is a reasonable high end price, but anything more is getting selfish... yet i do still get mugged into it and pay premium on rare occasion... don't forget of course that there are fair few apps on iphone that are above the £5 mark tho... whatever their purpose be!
Now.... gonna try and not get started on those ridiculously overpriced Xbox Live 'Games on Demand' selling for £20 when they go for around £4 online... lol!
#34
Anyone know if they'll be dropping the price for Battlefield 1943 on PS3 or is it only the Xbox you get these deals for.
#35
fantastic 2 of the games i've bought in the last week are now half price...:x

Not anymore, they've recently removed that option to turn off auto renewal online, from now on you have to ring them up to turn it off, which sucks tbh.
#37
I enjoyed the trial version of Serious Sam - may grab it for 800MSP :)
#38
I'm getting really annoyed with MS at the moment. They are listing every game I have been buying recently, in a row. :(

For sure ive not found it referenced to as Winterbottom anywhere.

No probs :)

Worms 2 is amazing with HD graphics, though. It has all the good weapons from the series like Concrete Donkey and the Bunker Buster...

Plus all the great game modes like Forts and Rope Racing.

It's worth it even if you've never played Worms before. You will love it.
