Zavvi (and The Hut) are currently offering 14 months of Xbox Live Gold Membership for £33.93. From what I can gather this is one of the cheapest deals now that everyone seems to have upped their prices, even the websites that email the code to you. I ordered my card last night and, although it says that it's only available for Pre-Order and will be delivered on 24th September, my card has already been despatched.

I've managed to get some very good deals with HotUKDeals, so I'm hoping that this can help someone.

2% Quidco also available.

This week Microsoft officially announced a $10 increase to the annual Xbox Live Gold subscription. In a special Pachter's Podium last year, Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter correctly predicted the $10 increase.

As for Xbox Live's future, the great thing about the $10 increase is that it will enable Microsoft to reinvest in the service to then offer even more enhancements. "The extra $10 translates to around $100 - 150 million per year in additional revenue for Microsoft. I think that they will reinvest at least this much in developing other new applications, and will roll out a premium service with $100 - 200 million worth of enhancements," Pachter told IndustryGamers. "If they can get 2 million users to switch from the $60 plan to the $100 plan, they'll make an extra $80 million a year, and can keep investing to try to grow that business."

That is confirmed as a £10pa increase in the UK

Looks like a good price to me, 14months too.

You can also activate more than one card at any one time so theoretically could pay for three years worth before the price hike.
#4
nice deal, especially before the price hike
#6
uk price is only going up £1 for monthly ...
#7
Great price for 14 months - pre-orded as it'll save me a few quid come renewal time in January. Heat given.
#8

The price hike only affects the price of the one month subscription in the UK, the 12 month is not affected, see here.
Apparently the price hike will indirectly effect us in the UK since most of the websites that sell and then email the codes out, source their 12 month cards in the US. Subsequently there won't be such a huge gap between them and the store bought cards.Right now, sites like Live-codes and Cheapxboxlivecodes are charging £36.99 and £34.99 respectively for the 12 + 2 Gold cards.

I yeah I know but Amazon etc will never sell any of these priced at £39.99 m$ are trying to kill off deals and force you to buy directly from dash. It aint gonna work on me as I have 6 years worth of live codes @ £25 pgr starter kits x 6 and I just bought 4 x12+2

As well as having 4x 3 month from sky player / remote @£9.99

Already pre-ordered @ Amazon for £30.99 before the price went up :)
#13
Thanks for the deal, but these are on the shelf to buy in Game, so I am a little nervous about the "pre-order" status and the fact this is going to get HOT
#14
good find however wasn't the 12 month selling for £26 not so long since? so £6 for a extra 2 more months
#15
Is there an expiry date on the cards?

Have you not read above that the price has gone up in the U.S so the days of the cheaper subs have pretty much ended as not alot of difference in price between UK and US now.

And no expiry as you can add it to your console now and it just tags on immediately.
#17
Great find, enjoy the heat :p
#18
Great deal and worth taking up. As mentioned, third-party sellers will inevitably raise their prices in response.
#19
thanks. im gonna order this before november just in case retailers do push up the price of the year subscription. thanks OP
#20
Perfect been browsing for a while wondering if worth renewing my subscription. This is worth it, as a lot of the traditional live code websites have raised thier prices over £30 recently just for 12m, Got mine last year for £25.99. You get Quidco for this as well, not sure what the percentage was, think it was 2% for games, will let you know when it tracks.
#21
To confirm cheap subs will no longer exist anywhere. The suppliers in US moved the prices overnight and have pretty much killed the market for code websites. Ebay prices are already up. Infact UK is now cheaper to buy these codes than the US!!!

Bwahahahahaha X)

The 'great thing' about the price increase is the amount of extra revenue it will bring MS shareholders...

Some people really are naive.

Thanks, ordered

@aceman
if its the live card that was listed on here a while back you will not be getting it m'afraid

I gave it about a month then emailed them to chase, only for them to reply that demand had outstripped supply, they never even had the decency to email anyone that was rejected... cocks!
#25
My sub ends in 3 weeks. Can you cancel easily if not despatched in time as i cant go even a week without my live fix!
#26
Microsoft are charging more in the US to make more money- and stop everyone buying cheaper US cards- rip off merchants.

I too was unaware that the recent price increase would have a knock on effect of driving out the ~£25 yearly cheap codes for us here in the UK so thanks for your post. I should have stocked up more sooner :D
#32
Just get it from the US geeeeeez

Just get it from the US geeeeeez

And pay more! Jeez read the thread.

This is actually a very good deal.

I usually pay about 27 - 28 a year from my source and he has had to put his prices up to 31.99 for 12 months now due to US 12 month price rises.

So this is marginally better.

Voted hot
