This week Microsoft officially announced a $10 increase to the annual Xbox Live Gold subscription. In a special Pachter's Podium last year, Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter correctly predicted the $10 increase.

As for Xbox Live's future, the great thing about the $10 increase is that it will enable Microsoft to reinvest in the service to then offer even more enhancements. "The extra $10 translates to around $100 - 150 million per year in additional revenue for Microsoft. I think that they will reinvest at least this much in developing other new applications, and will roll out a premium service with $100 - 200 million worth of enhancements," Pachter told IndustryGamers. "If they can get 2 million users to switch from the $60 plan to the $100 plan, they'll make an extra $80 million a year, and can keep investing to try to grow that business."

That is confirmed as a £10pa increase in the UK

Looks like a good price to me, 14months too.

You can also activate more than one card at any one time so theoretically could pay for three years worth before the price hike.

The price hike only affects the price of the one month subscription in the UK, the 12 month is not affected, see here.

Apparently the price hike will indirectly effect us in the UK since most of the websites that sell and then email the codes out, source their 12 month cards in the US. Subsequently there won't be such a huge gap between them and the store bought cards.

Right now, sites like Live-codes and Cheapxboxlivecodes are charging £36.99 and £34.99 respectively for the 12 + 2 Gold cards.

I yeah I know but Amazon etc will never sell any of these priced at £39.99 m$ are trying to kill off deals and force you to buy directly from dash. It aint gonna work on me as I have 6 years worth of live codes @ £25 pgr starter kits x 6 and I just bought 4 x12+2

As well as having 4x 3 month from sky player / remote @£9.99

Thanks for the deal, but these are on the shelf to buy in Game, so I am a little nervous about the "pre-order" status and the fact this is going to get HOT

Have you not read above that the price has gone up in the U.S so the days of the cheaper subs have pretty much ended as not alot of difference in price between UK and US now.

And no expiry as you can add it to your console now and it just tags on immediately.

Great deal and worth taking up. As mentioned, third-party sellers will inevitably raise their prices in response.
