My local morrisons are doing the 12 month xbox live gold cards for £25.99, and the 3 month cards for £9.99.

EDIT - it seems my morisons may be more expensive than some of the others! Reports are coming in of £24.99 in places - either way, its a good deal though.

I know you can get them slightly cheaper online, but if you fancy avoiding the hassle of trying to work out which of the fleabay merchants are genuine then this might be for you.....

they are doing the card for 24.99 and you've got the price as 25.99....contradiction there, good price though, I bought mine online for 26.99 so this is a bargain

What mistake? I originally posted at £25.99, someone said I got it wrong so I changed it, looked at the photo, then changed it straight back to the price I originally said it was... :-D

Good price, the last time I bought it was online from cheap xboxlive code and it's £27.99 on there.... might pop into my local Morrison's tomorrow and see if it's on offer there and buy it for future use at that price.
#10
But you gotta wonder, i think retailers know something we dont, thats amazon, currys and now morrisons all discounted this heavily in the last week!
Official price drop maybe due?

Lifetime subscription option for £50-75 maybe?

doubt it that would just lose them revenue, maybe the price is just gonna come down to a cheaper option, or they will bring out some kind of extra premium package?

Think you got wires crossed mate myself and numpty were pointing out to YOU, that in the goto deal and the pic it was £25.99.
But in your text info YOU had wrote...
"My local morrisons are doing the 12 month xbox live gold cards for £24.99, and the 3 month cards for £9.99.
Sorted now, just letting you know!

SHOULD be a move to free online, its the only thing Sony has over it now and as I've heard reports of PSHome getting better, they are losing their grip on online gaming..... its a long shot but Im hopeful :-D

Na mate, you been smoking they funny fags?
PS3 on-line maybe free, but PS3 owners lose out at that fact.
Xbox live has over 20 Million members worldwide, 20 million people dont pay for a service that could be gotten elsewhere for free.
The ability to cross chat over games/movies/music dash on the 360, and seamless intergration is what makes xbox live the envy of ps3 owners, so much so that sony is moving towards a paid for buisness model to attract more revenue and hopefully offer a better service than the atrocity that PSN is just now!

Microsoft have already said they plan to add a "Platinum" or premium membership to XBL. No idea when it's gonna be released.

This.

In terms of online play, yes both services are identical, but PSN is lacking the interactivity and functionality of XBL. For instance, on XBL you can have a party up and running within seconds with all of your mates, no matter what game/dvd/movie they are playing or what they're doing, where as chat on PSN is just a farce.

Am I the only one who doesn't use cross game chat?

Hot - I only ordered mine off amazon last week for 27.97 - this is a great price.
#22
Good price - have some H+R
#23
Is this actually nationwide? I've just been to Farnborough branch and it's showing £34.99 ??
#24
nice price, will check it later, cheers

Not sure why people are knocking PSN so much, I think it's outstanding and it's free, does everything I need it to do and more. People shouldn't have to pay just so they can play online with their friends

You need to learn how to COMMUNICATE with people because to be honest you're coming across as a bit of a arse, two responses to people where you have made pretty daft prejudgements

First off, I DONT EVEN OWN PS3, I HAVE A 360, but Im not blinded by fanboyism so I can see that £30 per year is a bit steep given that some games need gold XBL to get the most from them!! Secondly, Im not a silly little school boy so would not post in favour of one format over another

SCORCHING HOT! Have some heat!

only hot if this is nation wide. otherwise it gets the bitter cold treatment from me. I will ring my local morissons and report back hot or cold lol

I have absolutely no problem paying a couple of quid a month to have a system for online play that is moderated, reliable and constantly updated, plus the download speeds are extremely rapid even compared to torrent downloading.....

The only worrying thing I can see is that some companies (notably EA and Tiger Woods 11) are going to start to charge an additional subscription for second hand games (new games come with a single use code) which I think starts a worrying trend.

Like it or not, I think the model is going to be towards a cloud gaming approach, where you pay a subscription and play games from on-line servers....

Don't really care, I haven't got a PS3?!?!? My comment was based on the fact that XBlive SHOULD be free regardless of how good it is, we pay more than enough to MS in overpriced accessories and software, to charge for Live is a bit greedy IMHO

OMFG you dont even have an argument there!
It's not as if microsoft is forcing you to purchase live.
But the fact that people do and continue to do so year after year, speaks volumes for the service, and how good it actually is.
When somethings good like that people will pay for it.
At £39.99 thats £3.33 p/month approx.
So at £25.99 thats £2.16 p/month approx, thats why this is scorching hot, and people recognise that it's a premium service that is matained and supported 24/7!
Having said that microsoft is a buisness and if you had 100 million consoles sold, it makes perfect sense to charge for a service they can make a good return on!

Yeh does seem a worrying trend, UFC 2010 has a code in the box of new copies to allow you JUST to play online, or if you pick it up used, you pay 400 ms points to do so instead.
Seems a bit of a con, considering you have already paid microsoft for the online services.
Having said that it's to try and get the games companies more money, selling new copies, instead of game/bbuster etc selling used copies for £34.99 and pocketing the lot!

well lovefilm will lose out on huge revenue too then. i hated lovefilm but thats a different subject.

as for xbox live, my son has it and he's constantly on his headset winding people up and it really annoys me, not that its just him but any immature child just talks s@#t and fires abuse down the mic.......and for that reason alone i switched to ps3 and enjoy playing call of duty games in peace & quiet!!!

hot deal and my son needs his renewing this month......or maybe not haha

You can block voice from other people, apart from friends, on Xbox Live :)

I think the trend is that a lot of companies are using their own servers as opposed to microsoft's server for both the communication and online gaming experience... which is why you have to pay separately for the game subscription.

I think it's more of the gaming company trying to move away from microsoft servers... but if that's the case, I reckon if you have the online code, you shouldn't need the Gold access then.

If someone was on a Silver account, bought a game and got the online code... can they still play online with that code without a gold account?
