The Japanese arcade hit Ikaruga comes to Xbox LIVE® Arcade! Treasure's award-winning scrolling shooter brings a tactical twist to the genre with its yin-and-yang gameplay: the color of your ship determines your effect on enemies. In this polarized system, enemy ships and their bullets are one of two colors. Attack an enemy of the opposite color for extra damage. Absorb enemy fire of the same color as your ship, and use the energy for a special attack. Destroy multiple enemies of the same color to score a chaining bonus. Play solo or cooperatively, and use your polarity to achieve victory!

cheers loved this game back in the day may buy thanks.

Blast from the past, remember this on the Dreamcast, then it got a Gamecube release as well.
#3
Yeah I also got the Dreamcast import and still have my Gamecube version factory sealed. Anyone who played Radiant Silvergun back on the Sega Saturn or likes shooters should definitely pick this up at 400 MP. However, this is not going to be an easy 200 gamerscore and its very tough and challenging.
#4
This game is super-difficult; don't buy it on a whim, try the demo first!
#5
I have this for Dreamcast . Perfect for using with the Dreamcast arcade stick, not sure it would be so good using a 360 controller.
#6
The biggest bargain ever. Best game on XBLA, no question.
#7
Rock hard, good price but ouch
#8
hmm might try the demo, i usually get the 400 point games when reduced.
#9
Now this one is tempting and I have quite a few points at the moment.
#10
Nice, had this on the Cube. Gradius V is my poison though :)
#11
The price is slightly misleading (well, the £ price quoted anyway). 400 points is £3.40 if you buy off the console and if you use the cheaper deals to get £15 for 2100, 400 points is £2.85.

That said, the minimum points you can buy is 500, which will indeed cost £4.25 which is where I presume the OP got it from.

Game is Fking Hard, but good.
Bargain at this price, think ill have it myself!

The shmup that can convert shmup haters! It did with me anyways! :p

Super hot deal

OMG This is why I don't enjoy shooters as much as I want to. It's a commitment to play these type of games. They're simply beautiful once you climb the vertical learning curve.
#15
Almost ordered this for the full price. Hot!

i this my friends how it was in the 80's and early 90's . rock solid gameplay in the arcades ....dont make them like this anymore ( well the odd game ) .

those arcade compilations bring back the memories .. but i cant play them for toffee with the pads ... need a proper arcade stick to react like i used to. the touch and feel are not there for me with pads

voted hot for the game/price

Had this game on the Dreamcast, it's pure evil. You will die. Lots.

This will tide me over for shooty action until Microsoft get their finger out of their **** and release Gridrunner+++ on Live!

Only in that you're a space ship shooting stuff. R-Type travels horizontally, Ikaruga travels vertically. It works on a polarity system - all enemies are black or white (and fire black/white shots), and you can change your ship's colour to black/white (and fire same colour shots). When black you absorb black shots from enemies and deal more damage to white enemies, but white shots kill you. And vice versa. You have to be able to quickly change your ships polarity to kill everything and survive. It's really, really hard.

That was a convoluted gist and reading it confuses me, so just get the trial to see if you like it  Shame it misses the Gamecube option of flipping the screen so you can put your telly on its side for a bigger picture. That was genius.
