Many people ask where the cheapest place is to get the xbox live gold subscription.

Ebay used to be cheap, but those days are gone!

Amazon do it for £32.99 delivered (supersaver delivery).

I can't find anywhere else which is cheaper.

If anyone can find one cheaper, could they let me know and I'll edit the post? Cheers.

weren't Home Bargains doing packs with a controller and a 3 month subscription for a couple of pounds? this was a few months ago now, so probably not anymore - but you never know!

Head over to LXDirect and stick the £39.99 XBL card into your basket. Then, go to your basket and use both the following codes:

ZQ4322 = £25 off when £60 spent... though it seems to work anyway!
XX494 = 10% off

You have to pay by Visa though, and it takes about 30 days to arrive, but that where I got mine from.

Hope this helps?

nice one ewan!
#5
So what did you pay for it in the end?! about £15?
#6
Tried the codes first one is £25off next order and the second code doesn't work at all .....maybe its me ???

Not sure this is a "hot deal" as I think it has been around this price for a while. If you can wait I would in case a better deal pops up......but thanks to the OP for the post.
#8
Yeah it's not a new deal, but it's the cheapest I could find.

Yes but they will need your Passport.NET (whatever it's called) account details as then they can enter your email and password and then recover your gamertag with the remaining months.

Yes, you can use it on BOTH xbox/360, but you will need a headset, best bet is to look for the xbox1 starter kits, try toys r us or ebay, there like £19.99 or less in most places, as they want people to move onto the 360 now.
Your looking for this..... http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/hardware/x/xboxlivestarterkit/default.htm
Basically you can use ANY 12 month xbox live code on BOTH the xbox and the 360!
#13
Ewan's codes dont work....
2nd code is not valid.
1st code is for £25 off, but at checkout the system reports [correctly] that the code is not applicable [due to the fact that the total is less than £60].
RESULT = having to pay £39.99 + £3.50 p&p

I have had three subs from Ebay in the past none have cost more than £23. They usually just email you a code once the paypal has been confirmed. All worked with no probs at all. It may be worth your while checking ebay in the USA as well as they seem to be cheaper.

Unfortunately all of these starter kits have sold out pretty much everywhere as they cost about £20 and the 12 months xbox live code works for both the xbox and the xbox 360.

These were cheap in the past as people were selling the codes from xbox starter kits which also work on the xbox 360. These appear to have pretty much sold out everywhere, so now you can only get the xbox 360 subscription. The cheapest I found this is £32.99 which is cheaper than ebay.

Regarding buying the subscription code from the USA (cheaper) - they won't work on a UK xbox 360.

You do not Need a headset to go live on Xbox, but you will need one if you wish to verbally communicate with your fellow gamers.

Mine was fine  Ordered from NetDirectBargins on eBay code worked fine and was about £16...
#21
please avoid NetDirectBargins - they wouldn't send my code to me until I setup a Paypal dispute ...

I know many others (look on dvdforums etc) - who had the same problem ...

when he did send me the code (after Paypal dispute started) - he said "it must be in your spam trap" what utter rubbish.

so ure saying tht xbox live subscriptions work with 360?is tht right?
and will tht give me gold access?
#23
I rang Microsoft Xbox support - they informed me that US codes wouldn't work, so in my opinion Ebay is a bit risky for this.

The old xbox starter kits with 12 months sub for Xbox live will give you 12 months gold membership with the 360. I had 2 of these and both worked on my 360. If you see any old xbox live starter kits with 12 months sub (extremely rare these days) under £35 - buy it. Headsets go for about £6 on ebay and some of the games are backward compatible with the 360 eg Forza Motorsport, PES 5, Halo 2. HMV still have some listed (on order from supplier) but I suspect these orders will never be fulfilled....

I used a seller in the US before and the code worked, there is no problem with using a code bought in the USA on a UK machine. Anybody that has bought a US game or one from PlayAsia etc with the 2 day or 2 month codes will vouch for that.

I think certain codes from America do work and some don't. Perhaps ones bought as part of a game bundle are locked to the same region the game is but just subscription cards could be different. Don't know for sure.
#27
I bought a 12month 360 Xbox live code from an American seller last November and it worked fine. However the news on the Xbox forums now is that Microsoft have started region coding the Xbox live codes, I also notice a marked lack of U.S. sellers on UK ebay selling Xbox Live. Shame as I only paid £17.

just wanted to say thankyou for the information you have provided. will now go hunting to see what I can find. many, many thankyous...

Good idea in theory but by the time HMV deliver this, we'll all be playing lawn green bowling rather than Xbox games....
