Upgrade your Xbox Live account from Silver to Gold on the Xbox Live Marketplace with a 3 month membership for only £7.50 - 50% off the standard Marketplace price.

While, yes, 13 month subscriptions can be found across the internet for £30, this is a) less costly in the short-term and b) far more convenient than ordering and waiting, as it will take effect in only moments.

I assume this will be a short-term deal, but I don't know exactly how short term - although it does say "Upgrade today", and knowing Microsoft, this could well mean 24 hours only.

Couldn't see this anywhere on here, so thought I'd post it. Enjoy!

This offer can be found in the "Spotlight", by the way.
#2
They do these offers so they can get your card on file, knowing that plenty of people wont bother to turn off auto-renewal... or maybe that's just the cynic in me lol
#3
Oh, definitely.

But I figure the people who post on HUKD are slightly more clued in, and would therefore turn auto-renewal off, enabling them to take advantage of this offer :p

In before the PS3 fanboys state that theirs is free.

spotted this earlier but it wont let me do it. Everytime i confirm payment it just says:

"Cant retrieve information from Xbox Live. Please try again later.

Status code: 80153004"

Anyone else getting this?

just a heads up you cant even do it on xbox.com anymore the sneaky muthas. you have to ring up (be prepared for atleast 10 minute call) to turn off automatic renewal.

really sneaky tactics, Microsoft is a company I respect but not one I admire.

I don't think this deal is for silver members, however I may be wrong. I am currently a gold member and saw this deal because my live will be running out soon and it wanted me to renew with this offer. On my brothers xbox he doesn't see it and he is a silver member, he only sees deal that's £10. If I am wrong I apologize.

The word 'upgrade' is in the title on the Marketplace, so it's definitely for Silver users :).

Don't know how I missed that  I do apologize.
I don't get it though how comes I can see this deal on my gold membership, and not my brother who is silver :? hes looking to upgrade to gold so will have to show him this, if it eventually comes up on his xbox that is.

Getting the same thing. I already have a year of Live on my account, but I would take another 3 months for this price (only 2.50 more than a single month). I get this error everytime tho. I was thinking maybe ti was for silver upgraders only?

thats good, though you can get 12mths for 26.99 @ dvdforums

I have PS3 and pay for Live, both consoles have good exclusives, neither are cheaper, if you get too roped up in PS Home then you spend the money to Sony in the virtual shop, money that would be better spent having a better online experience like Xbox Live.

I have both a 360 and a PS3 - the 360 is in my study to play games, and the PS3 is in the living room to act as a media server and play Blu Rays.

Given a choice, I always buy games for the 360 - I prefer the controller for one, but a lot of games are ported to the PS3 and suffer from graphical tearing, stutters, lower frame rates, etc.

I have to say, games like GoW and Uncharted 2 are great games, but looking at the 360 line up, I don't think 360 people are missing out too much.

It might be something to do with the fact that the first one isnt working for some people (myself included). Will give the other one a try later.

I get the first one ("Upgrade" as opposed to "Renew") but then my current live has over 3 months left to run. I was going to try this to add 3 months on at an OK price but after you select it the wording is very much aimed at people upgrading from Silver, and it says your membership will become to a quarterly renewing one, which is currently £15 i.e. £60 for a year! I don't fancy that much. Hmm I wonder if this has been messed up and is supposed to appear for Silvers only and the "Renew" one for Golds only.

For those wary of buying an email code Amazon do 12-months for £35, a fiver cheaper than MS's own renewal price.

(Not voted either way.)

Last time microsoft did something like this it was 1 month for £1. I seem to remember that this promotion lasted for about a month. hope this helps someone if they dont want to buy straight away.
