Got to say - sat here with a few beers in me - this doesn't seem like such a hot deal - have to sleep and sober up before can order - can we have the cheapest place to get 12 month sub online please.

Ok thought about it - it is a great deal - just pissed I can't get it.

Voted hot...

For those who don't have an Asda near them, it may be worth checking Blockbusters as they were selling Live kits for around 20 - 25 quid. You don't get the game but neither of those are worth that much these days.

I went with a similar offer from HMV last year, had no trouble using two codes which extended my Live subscription for two years.

Best i've seen is Gameplay for £32.99. Quidco tracked as 99p for that too so £32 and seeming you probably aren't in a rush for it, free delivery which is quite a good price from a name you can trust.

i got my xbox live 12 +1 months subscription off ebay for £13 from the usa, they just email you the code, you must open a new us account and you cant use it for updating an existing account, its a us account so you have to have a us address and usa hotmail account to register it,i just looked in the us white pages chose an address and registered it and it works fine, you can bid for these and get them under £10 if your lucky, for 13 months live gold subscription its the cheapest i could find.It worked fine for me and hundreds of other ebayers too,if you buy one in rip off britain they are about £35! bill gates should have made xbox live free in my opinion, like the ps3,its not like bill gates needs any more money the greedy swine !

IMHO, the LIVE service is well worth the £40 per year RRP.

To get it any less than that is just a bonus.

As for this method of obtaining a LIVE code from the US, this sounds proper dodgy to me, and personally think it's tantamount to theft (like keygens for PC software).

Not knocking you mate, just joining in.

And to the OP, this is a great deal, feel the heat and the love

This method is fine as long as you are not concerned about your gamerscore.

To put a dampner on things, I'm sure they stopped producing these xbox live starter packs ages ago, thus can't see this as available in every store - more like some stock they have been found out the back and now put on display.
Earlier this year i got 3 packs from Currys at £9.97 - and yes it gives you 12 months GOLD subscription on the 360.
If you find one in Currys it is now £4.97.
I believe some were spotted in game earlier this year, around the same price.

I'm going to vote warm in the hope i'm wrong, and to avoid eating my hat.

I seem to remember that the 12 + 1 is for new subscribers only - or is that wrong?

I bought a 12 month from ebay for £29.99...v pleased.

Cheers - as long as they take less than 29 days to deliver so I'm up and running again when I hear the knock on the door and the postman delivers my Halo Legendary edition. Roll on Sept 26

Can I still get a gamerscore with this? What about downloading US content? Sounds good too me.

I'm sure MS have put a stop to this, a US account will not work on a UK 360 :(

every so often microsoft groom their subscribers and purge all those who pretend to american i believe. This is because people were taking advantage of the xbl downloads only available to America (Movies, tv shows etc) which we, the rest of the world, dont have access to.

I am a bit annoyed as i paid £40 for my subscription 2 weeks ago :| bought it off xbl for convinience

i saw that play-asia had the new halo 3 xbl subscriptions for quite cheap, but i dont think theyd work here
#21
Do these work for extending your gold account?
#22
yeah they work for adding to your current gold account

I believe that US media content isnt available if you connect from a UK IP address. However you can still play xbl games. There is no UK media content anyway (yet), so not missing much if you dont buy a UK xbl.

IMO, charging us twice the price that Americans get charged is tantamount to theft!

Especially for an inferior service. But, as with all things, we in the UK are ripped left, right and centre.

its not that dodgy, i got my code from the US and when it wouldnt work i phoned up the xbox live helpline and they told me i should just open a US account and it'l work then. so they cant be that against it if theyre telling me its ok to do it, this was about 4months ago though so they might have changed their minds now.

I've used a few codes at littlewoods lately, and had no problems. If they don't honour the codes you can just send the item back
