I would like to know this as well although as swaying towards the Xbox as have a PS3 at the moment, but annoyed that the PS4 does not support our old PS3 games where as the Xbox supports the older Xbox games.

I've been reading this up of late considering buying one to stream games to a Windows 10 tablet and all I can really offer is....

Looking at Metacritic the XBox One has more higher rated games than the PS4 although the PS4 has more exclusives than the Xbox One.

The "next gen" PS is already out in the form of the Pro which offers VR, which is currently available. While the Xbox has the "S" (slim) the next gen Xbox One is not due for release till Dec 2017? which means any Xbox you buy now will be out of date in 12 months.

Xbox One has EA access, the PS4 does not.

Xbox One has some retail backwards compatibility, the PS4 does not.

The Xbox One S has a UHD Blu-ray player the PS4 Pro does not (unsure about other PS4 models)

...Thats about all I can remember of what I read before Christmas.

Honestly, I have owned both of them, and I've not touched the PS4 in months. Xbox services are simply better, the free games provided every month with gold are much better and greater in number, as well as Xbox Store deals are cheaper to purchase, with more frequency and can be purchased from a worldwide store on one account.

As well as the introduction of backwards compatibility so that you can play some (always expanding) 360 games on the Xbox One. I would recommend Xbox One, but that's just how I feel about the competition between the two. The downside is the exclusives really

I am not a fan boy and not a troll. I've owned all consoles and currently have the PS4 and Xbox one. There is very marginally differences in terms of frames tearing and other graphical elements. I've had it side by side playing the same game and I can't really see any difference. I'd think about these two things:
Which controller do you feel comfortable with and most importantly what exclusive games do you prefer? That should make your decision.

On a side note, Xbox one s has a 4K blu ray player if you want to buy 4k games. Plus Xbox one can play a lot of Xbox 360 games in backward comp.

PS4 wins on the numbers front which is important in the playground. To "normal" people, the difference isn't that great, I have the One because my mates have them BUT there is also another huge benefit which I don't think has been mentioned: GAME SHARING!!! Its ace!!! :) It means that if you have 2 in the house (or a mate who has one who you trust), you only have to buy one game (has to be the digital version) or Xbox live subscription (or even EA Access subscription) and you both get it!! So far this has saved me hundreds and its a huge benefit over PS4.

That said, if it weren't for the above, I would probably have gone the PS4 route, why? probably because I was a little swayed by the seemingly pointless power difference, I'm glad I went with the One too as the exclusives are more to my taste. Whichever you choose, I'm sure you'll love it :)

Have both consoles too. Very similar to last generation in balance really. Xbox has slightly better services plus a few good exclusives like Forza and Gears. PlayStation has some good exclusives, Uncharted, The Last of Us etc. Xbox has backwards compatibility, there's some good older titles there like Red Dead Redemption but not remotely for all major titles as yet. Both consoles now require Xbox Live Gold or Ps Plus to play multiplayer games over the internet like FIFA or Battlefield. I agree with Blanka, if you only want one console then just go with that exclusives you want to play more and go from there. It literally is a carbon copy of how last gen was. Hence why a lot of us end up with more than one console, just for each set of exclusives are worth it to us.

For me it was PS4, since I have a gaming PC which leaves very little exclusive content on the Xbox one compared to the PS4... a no brainer really if you game on PC and want a console other than WiiU

Yeah you can share downloads on both consoles so I don't think you should factor that into the purchase. That feature has been standard since PS3.

One PS4 is set as the "main" console (you can then login as any user to access the games or online play). For the other PS4 you need to login with your specific PSN account to use the games online. This lets you use two PS4s simultaneously for online and games, handy if you have two PS4s in one house as you only need one PSN subscription.

Genuinely didn't know that!! So if I get a PS4 and my lad does, we can share everything and play at the same time i.e we can both use the PSN and play the same title?

You can indeed, with just one PSN paid for account. We have two PS4s and I wasn't expecting to be able to do this, I just stumbled onto it by luck rather than anything else.

Brill, thanks for that, I kind of regret not giving in to my son when he asked for one now, I would have had an instant game library like I have with my One!!! :)

To be honest its mostly down to which exclusives you like, controller you like and console your friends have.

I have both and in terms of how games play theres little to no difference (that i can tell at least). I prefer the xbox controller personally but ps4 has some great exclusives that i prefer like uncharted, last of us etc.

The online aspect will cost about the same price and both consoles offer free games with their online subs. Xbox has better ones imho at least for the last few months. Xbox also has EA access for games as well, i dont use it but hear great things.

Currently im gaming more on my ps4 (but that could be due to it being only a recent purchase. Hope i could help
