condition A+ sounds OK but think if your spending £80 plus on a second hand controller maybe better to find another £25 for a new one.

If thats the case, why ever buy anything pre owned?

For this price, if you're serious about getting the Xbox One Elite controller then get it new. At least that way it's new and without any dirt, grease or whatever.

I got one of these new and it packed up after a month, I'd be seriously dubious about buying a second hand one, sorry OP

Way too expensive for a used controller, elite or not.

I got the Elite console bundle last november and today had to get an exchange for the 2nd time today. On both occasions it was because of a faulty controller. Good controller but not worth the risk to be honest.

Don't have a problem with most pre owned items but controllers are better to buy new, this is not worth the headache too save £25. You may get lucky but these could be returned faulty stock that student computers have fixed to the best of their ability.

They wear out after a while and become loose. It's always nice to be the one breaking it in rather than having sloppy seconds.

I'd pay the extra 15 to 20 quid extra for a new one. I f you're stupid enough to pay 80 for a second hand controller what's another 20. Plus there's less ingrained man love juice in the new one.

For those who are considering getting this, let me shed some light:

The controller itself is brilliant. I got mine in Feb and I have been using it every day since then. I am a pretty heavy gamer and the hair triggers + paddles in the back make this a worthy investment.

BUT, I experienced a fault which most of my friends have also experienced - the left bumper coming right off within months. I bought mine from Amazon so I received a replacement within a day, but I would be careful about buying this controller from any other place which doesn't provide the sort of customer service that Amazon provides.

I'd personally buy some GAME vouchers on here (enough to cover it) and buy from there with their extended warranty.

Lol who would only give you 3 months warranty on a new product? I'm certain microsoft's manufacturers warranty is atleast a year.

What was wrong with it?

I got the Elite bundle from an Amazon France deal and I'm not a heavy gamer by any means but did play Fallout 4 quite a bit in January and February and my controller started failing shortly after.

I finally got in touch with Amazon France CS about a 'clicky' left joystick thinking they'd just replace the controller and they insisted the whole system was replaced and a new system was delivered within a week from the France warehouse.

I had to send the original unit back to France at a cost of over £60 recorded delivery (which Amazon Fr refunded).

I'm convinced sprinting in Fallout 4 ruined my Elite game pad and that the joystick cannot cope with the forward+press combo (which is used for sprinting in FO4).

In fact, I must get the replacement Elite controller down from the loft, as I reverted to using a spare standard controller.

I may as well use the 'Elite' controller and if it breaks within warranty, I may get a new system again. LOL

1st time it was a faulty trigger and yesterday it was thumbstick drift.

On my third controller now after the LB button became stuck on one. And left analogue stick broken on the other. All replaced under warranty

Why are these so expensive?

I looked it up and basically it weighs more, the analog sticks are tighter and it has 4 customisable triggers underneath the controller. These triggers can be added or removed and mapped to do different things. Similarly you can have a concave D-pad or swap it for the regular XBOX one.

I think you also get an app which lets you customise controls for any game (though needing a piece of hardware to do that seems pretty silly to me, really such an app should work for any controller).

All in all it doesn't make sense to pay that much unless you are a pro gamer or a collector (though a collector probably wouldn't settle for used!).

Assign two paddles to thumbstick press on each side. Makes total sense and faster too. Ive been playing Fallout 4 since xmas on the elite - no trouble at all but I look after my stuff.

Stone me, £83 for a 2nd hand control pad, are you kidding me?

Even a pro gamer wouldn't use one of these. (converted ps2 pad all day long over this.)

The problem with modern pads are they just aren't as durable as they once were. I don't think i've owned one in the last 10 years that didn't succumbe to some sort of problem. But to pay £100 for something with the build quality worse than what we were getting with £20 pads back in the day just shows you how much money can be fleeced from plastic gamers.

Unfortunately with other brands like Razer, HyperX and the 100s of other fake "pro gaming" companies in the market (style\marketing over substance) it will only get worse. So stuff like this doesn't surprise me, then again they're aimed at console owners so for M$ its like shooting fish in a barrel.

Splendid controllers. Sadly it doesn't stop me being **** at games, which I'm going to write a letter of complaint about.

Can't really see why youve commented, feel free to list better alternatives for the xbone if you'd like?

I like the pad myself, only the shoulder buttons being moulded from one fixed piece of plastic caused me an issue, one broke for me already but has been replaced. Can't say I've ever pro gamed on a console tbh,do you? ,have done euro leagues with the Cleaners on CS back in the day but always with mouse and keyboard. We were good but I was in my twenties then anyway I'd def buy new tbh.

I mean fair play to the companies that can get kids to pay so much, but it pretty damn ridiculous when you realise that people are gullible enough to think it's worth spending £83 on something like this. But hey, if I could somehow sell something for extortionate prices and actually get people so blow so much money on something so unnecessary, I'd do the same :)

32yr old, bought one 6months ago.

No one needs to buy a mechanical cherry red keyboard or a gaming mouse when a £2 set containing both do the same job.

But, that's just my opinion

Yes it's over priced but it's a premium controller that Microsoft are not forcing you to buy. Take the normal controllers rrp of £49.99 and your already half way there. What I don't get is these seem to be breaking at a rate higher than that of a standard one which is abit worrying for what's meant to be premium quality.
#33
not much elite about it. a xim4 with mouse and keyboard is elite :)
