Isn't this always the case with complete/ GOTY editions? I wasn't there from the start, but if I waited around for this edition, I would've lost out on over a year of Destiny goodness!

Those that bought the vanilla version of the game got a much better deal due to the way bungie don't bring any of the older content forward. This looks a great deal with a large amount of content but the reality is it isn't , you're only getting Rise of Iron and some older story missions none of which are very good.

The problem is some of the best destiny content is left gathering dust so stuff like the original Vault of glass raid, Crota's end and now King's Fall have not been updated to the new light levels so they're a lot easier, the rewards are worthless and hardly anyone ever plays them.

Rise of iron is a small dlc and the raid is one of the shorter ones as well, it's a good deal given rise of iron on its own for 25 quid but people shouldn't be fooled into thinking they're getting a huge amount of content like a normal goty would offer because they aren't.

Rewards from Kings fall aren't completely worthless, they're still able to be infused to the new light level cap.

As for the old content? If all you care about is loot (at the moment, as Bungie have hinted at bringing old content up to new light levels) then yes, you're partially correct. But VoG is still some of the best fun you can have in a game, and probably my favourite part of a game ever, and is still worth doing for the experience. Crota is nothing more than a glorified strike now, and relatively easy to solo. Kings Fall? If you haven't already, it's well worth doing in my opinion for the Sniper and Machine Gun alone, but as I've said, any loot from there can be upgraded.

Destiny isn't perfect, it certainly has it's flaws (mainly related to it's story) but it's great fun for me. Not to mention the community is generally outstanding.

*Plus it's not completely true about not bringing old content forward. It's already happened once with year one content becoming infusable, and as the wait until Destiny 2 looks to be a long one, I would almost guarantee they do it again.

You've completely and utterly missed the point of my post - I was in no way criticising Destiny, I was replying to a post that said vanilla players must be hard done by but that's not the case. We got to enjoy Vault of Glass, Crota's End and King's Fall in their prime whereas now no-one wants to play them (a quick look at LFG and there isn't a single current LFG for anything other than WOTM), VoG particularly is far too easy and the awesome Y1 loot is now worthless. Even if there is an odd group playing, few are going to sherpa people through and you need to play raids regularly to get better at them which people don't now do.

While it looks like it's great value for someone picking up this collection, all they're really getting is the fairly minimal Rise of Iron content. It is completely true about not bringing old content forward - Vault of Glass, Crota's End and King's Fall are all left untouched at their old light levels and while it's a persistent rumour they're going to be updated (a badly missed opportunity with Rise of Iron given it was badly lacking content anyway) it's yet to happen.

So I'd much rather have paid extra to play from vanilla over paying less for this collection to get a shell of Destiny and you clearly agree from what you've said.

John

I only started playing last year, so only one year for me! Still managed to rack up 400 odd hours. :D

well worth it - i've got 3 copies of this game (original, taken king and collection (for 2nd ps4)) - well worth it as it gives you loads of gameplay, the online works really well and isn't buggy at all (like certain other EA games titles) and the co-op play makes it great if you know others who play it.

I always say it on these Destiny posts... best multiplay coop game I've been involved with. Event on in Birmingham a week tomorrow too which will be great fun!

Indeed, somehow vanilla players have less content than what was available at launch. Kind of sad Bungie screwed players over like that

I beg to differ, the game yes is very good, and like other games it has its keen fanbase and its not so keen fan base, however regarding the bugs, this is false the game itself is bugged like mad, its rare you can complete a raid these days without one of the bosses glitching/bugging out on you, PvP AKA Crucible is lag/bug broken but other then that its a great game and i spend many hours enjoying the daily grind

heck, i flubitted it for £32 2 weeks ago after i got my cheap ps4 and not played it once, the division is a lot more entertaining. gonna put that on backburner now i've hit high endgame until next patch so may try destiny soon.

protip - the collection comes with a code for game + all the DLC, if you have played the demo/trial on your console then you need to install from disk, you can play diskless if it's a fresh install so you can get £3 back from CEX once you download the full 50gb (and verify it's working)
