Is this the Xbox One 2 - the one thats as powerful as the PS4 so you can play VR games - or is this still going to be obsolete in a few months time?

Not really, the original Xbox one retails at around £200, it's only £50 more. There's loads of arguments as to why you should and shouldn't buy the slim version but this one in particular the 500gb isn't widely available in the UK atm so might as well make the most of it. I'd rather save £100 cuz the 2tb is £350 and is mainly the only one available

It's not the Scorpio, that's at least 12 months away yet

Is just a slimmer version tbh really with a 4k blu ray player the 4k console is coming out late next yr which I'm assuming I'll be expensive and also you'll need a 4k TV/monitor for you to take full advantage

Do they take payment immediately or on dispatch?

If you need it to be small and have a 4k / UHD TV this one might be worth getting, otherwise just for gaming, get a 1tb regular Xbone.

I'm pretty sure It says on the website payment will be taken in 25 days, I'll have to double-check

Potentially less dynamic resolution scaling and more consistent frame rates.

this is the cheapest 4k blue ray player on the market. you get to play games too.

You will need a 2016 4k hdr ready tv to even get the benefits.

Not really a good price cold! it's just normal RRP GameStop uk had this for £229 for pre order plus 500GB is way to small now
#19
Really glad I didn't buy this from the Microsoft France store for 249.99EUR after the 150EUR discount. Would've only saved myself £30-40!
Edit: just noticed the France one was a 2tb version so not comparable

No, it'll not be obsolete for years. Just like they continued to make the 360 for years after the Xbox One came out.

Of course if you want to wait another 18 months on Scorpio and pay probably £500+ for a console you wont have any games for then thats your perrogative.

lol worse is that a joke? the colours on xboxone are so much better than ps4 in game the picture quailty is better, also the gui on the xboxone blows the ps4 borring gui away, i own both consoles.

Well, if you don't have a time machine then there's not much point bringing it up.

Smaller unit and bigger screen has always been the way forward. Just watch total recall

I prefer the ps4 regardless. Have xbox one as well. Only turn xbox one on when redeeming my free xbox live gold game. Or when guests come around. I'll keep present xbox one and upgrade the ps4 for the VR :)

Unlike the previous consoles (PS3, Xbox 360), there was never anything fundamentally poor about Xbox One's original hardware. It wasn't loud under full chat, it didn't generate tonnes of heat or guzzle lots of power. It was made to be left on for ages and had great reliability. It was just big. So although this was inevitable I can't see why you wouldn't just pick up the older machines for much less

I have both consoles and have compared both of them with same games, ps4 looks better.

So the new xbox isn't 1080p? if so then its not worth it as I have no use for a 4k player.

Because you're getting a 4K Blu ray player in the price, it will play future games (that are designed to take advantage of the graphics and are coming already) better and 2TB of storage if you havent already got that much.

for the good stuff of the box, it's not compatible with LG 4k OLED TVs

read that t'other day, crazy but true
