Is this the bluetooth s controller?

From my understanding it's the v2 version that gone on sale during Black Friday for £34.99 from major retailers.

Heat added but not sure if it's v2 or not. Description says so, but pictures show old controller.

It's v2, the title says new model and v1 has no 3.5mm jack.

Seriously, save up for an Elite controller instead. Far superior to any controller even PS controllers

I disagree, I couldn't understand why I was holding a £100 controller. Made no difference to my gaming.

Well, redesign v1 has new bumpers and 3.5mm jack. That's what I see in pics. Would prefer the one that came out with S console.
Anyway, whatever it is, still decent price.

Managed to get Elite last Sunday from SavviBuy for £34.99 due to price error. No refund yet, delivery set to 5-9.12 as Black Friday item. If/when arrive I may resell it. Still don't see a point to use controller worth nearly as much as console. New S controller will do. for nearly 1/3 of price.

This listing has been posted before on the site. I assure you this is v2.

Its rather confusing, but there are actually three versions of the Xbox One controller:-

v1 - Original launch controller, has bumpers that only click in at the edge, and also has IR emitters at the top edge so that Kinect can track the players position.

v2 - The "3.5mm Jack" model. Has redesigned bumpers that can be clicked in anywhere, and also has a 3.5mm headset jack. Has no IR emitters.

v3 - The "S" model. Still has the redesigned bumpers and 3.5mm jack, but now also features bluetooth. The top of the controller has been redesigned and now has a slightly smaller Xbox guide button, with a matt finish surrounding it instead of the gloss used on earlier controllers. Also has a very slightly dimpled textured grip on the back plastic (This is not the same as the rubber grips used on the Elite and some Special Edition controllers)

I think this deal is for the "v2" (Note that the naming scheme varies depending on the retailer),which does not have bluetooth.

If you want the latest "v3" bluetooth model I would recommend buying from the Microsoft store, since it states it has bluetooth in the description:-

When they say "for Windows 10 PCs", have they deliberately programmed them to not work with windows 8 or are they just wording it in a **** off way to windows 8 customers.

The first two controllers would originally only work on windows 10 with the dongle wirelessly.
After a lot of consumer complaining Microsoft made drivers for windows 7/8, so the description is probably taken from the launch statement.

I disagree, I couldn't understand why I was holding a £100 controller. Made no difference to my gaming.

It's because a lot of money is made out of gaming peripherals when in fact they do almost nothing to improve your gaming skills, plus they're quite perverse, people actually want mechanical keyboards with their annoying loud clicks and actually think they improve their gaming skills, then there's the customisation rubbish such as RGB LEDs.

Nice one - does the bluetooth work with SteamLink wirelessly without the need for the USB dongle thingy?

Yes, but I was discussing the "base" hardware, and except for the Elite (Which is basically a v2 with extra inputs and button customisation options) they will all be one of these three versions. Most special editions are currently either v1 or v2, but i'm sure all future released controllers will be v3.

No idea sorry, I dont have a SteamLink.

Yes the one I linked to on the Microsoft store is a v3 with bluetooth. No it doesn't come with a USB cable, but it uses a standard micro USB type-B cable like most Android phones/tablets. As with all Xbox One controllers it uses 2x AA batteries (Two non-rechargeable AA batteries are included) If you want a rechargeable battery your best buying a play and charge kit:-
