The newly announced Elite Controller. I know this is still very expensive but it's priced at £159.99 everywhere else such as Game and the Microsoft Store. I'd pre-order fast, I assume they will also change the price to £159.99 soon but should honour the £129.99 with their pre-order price guarantee.

Description:

Crush the competition with the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller - Gears of War 4 Limited Edition, featuring a gritty, battle-weathered design, an arsenal of swappable components, Hair Trigger Locks, an exclusive in-game item, and three Gear Packs

£130 for a games controller...the world's gone mental! oO

Not sure I'm seeing £130's worth of extra functionality over any other controller. Yes it's got a few different features but there's nothing that seems to justify the inflated price.

nice looking controller

I love the design on this but just don't have a good feeling about rebooting two exclusive franchises on both consoles. I just couldn't love the new trailer of gears of war on xbox one and god of war on PS4, but maybe that is just me...

Customisation. That's the key word with this controller.

If you compare it to competitors like Scuf, its more reasonable. I'm sure Microsoft could sell it cheaper but people were already willing to pay £100+ for third party.

It's a great controller, and bear in mind you can also use it for PC gaming, although you will need a wireless adapter if you don't want to be tethered to a wire (Doesn't bother me too much as I have a very long USB cable which just plugs into the side of my monitor anyway)

Heat from me just cause the Microsoft Store is £160

You need to try it before having any kind of solid opinion, I paid £130 for mine when they first came out and it's brilliant, made playing certain games far better and easier, not having to move your thumb to jump or crouch in a fps makes a massive difference!

There is just no room for principle any more in the modern world...this is a feckin' games controller, it doesn't include a console and a selection of games, it's just a controller that is useless on it's own. If people go on playing the 'see how much we can get the mugs to pay for it' game then prices will keep going up! Look at the iphone, it's not worth anything like they sell it for but trendies think it gives them prestige and so the apple universe is booming... ...and now samsung base their pricing structure on apples, and so it goes on!

...tip of the day, stop buying them and the price will come down (_;)

I don't think he's demanding what people should spend their money on, it's just frustration at the apparent unwillingness to resist unreasonably high prices.
Personally I just wish we were in a post-scarcity society :).

Does anyone know if Amazon will be stocking these?

Price has increased to £159.99, not sure if Zavvi will make those who preordered pay the higher price or honour the price it was advertised at before

It could be argued that what is 'reasonable' often becomes so because consumers get used to the prices.

Nice, I'll switch my order from GAME.

Controllers like this are a luxury item for sure, but if you play a lot then they are quite comfortable and the paddles on the back make it easier to manouver/react in certain games. Also with the Elite you have the ability to customise it via Xbox software (thumb stick dead zone etc).

If you play beat em ups then you're already used to spending close to this and often more on arcade sticks.

I just wish Sony did their own version, the equivalent is a 3rd party Scuf controller which can actually run you more with fewer options.

I bought the original Elite and I must say its massively overpriced and overhyped, I'd pay £70 at the most if I had the choice. Hot deal comparatively but controller is still a massive ripoff (it's good just not £130 good)

£159.99 for a controller? What is going on
In this world? Have a missed any thing??? I don't remember sleeping that long that every thing is changed up side down? oOoOoO:|:|

I absolutely detest Zavvi - bought a Zbox off of them as a one off as a gift and despite 5-6 attempts to cancel the unmentioned "subcription" they conned me into, they kept billing me until I had to ring up my bank directly to blacklist them from taking payments. Still trying to take payments off of me to this date! Just shows as "new payment method needed" despite senior escalation customer service manager dealing with my request personally.

Peasants spend £130 on a gamepad that still loses to £5 mouse. How cute. :-)

I got my ps4 with a controller and a game for cheaper than this controller :o

How does "principle" come into this? It is a luxury item in the "controller world". There are numerous other choices which are way cheaper. It would only be an issue as you describe if this item was the only choice in the world and you were forced to buy it due to having no other choice at all. But that is not the case, correct?

Your feeling that this is overpriced does not matter as there are numerous people (as you rightly point out) that are willing to pay this price for something that they like/want/need/afford etc etc. By your reasoning everything should be reasonable priced and no one should buy anything remotely expensive. But then we all do, houses being a prime example. If we all stopped paying inflated prices for our houses, then prices would be a lot more reasonable as per your reasoning?

I don't think your logic works. In fact the reason luxury items exist is because people can afford to pay the asking price.

Worth it for the in-game exclusive item alone
#38
its £159 now

I'm a sucker for themed hardware and Gears is pretty much my favourite shooter series of all time... but I won't be buying this though. It can't just be me that thinks it's a lot so so.

My favourite themed controller of the last few years is still the XB1 Titanfall - I love it despite not enjoying the game much at all.

Not stupid comments like this again.
Look up scuff controllers, see how much they're charging and what they offer. This is a bargain and any serious gamer will love this and it's NOT expensive for what it is.
