Been hovering about this price for over a year now. Last september/october (2008) my mate picked one up for the same price in sainsburys.

I know nothing about XBoxes and was wondering:
Can you get XBMC onto these? Is it good for HD (1080p) content?
googling turned up a s**tstorm of conflicting advice

XBMC was the original Xbox not the 360. These 60gb packs can be JTAG hacked which will let you play homebrew etc though. XBMC will probably never come to the 360. Although technically possible, the team that developed it for the original Xbox say they have no plans to port it to 360. That being said the 360 is very capable of playing HD content.

It plays 1080p fine you just need to convert it from the mkv package with a program then you can stream it over the network or play from a external usb harddrive. Only takes a few minutes to convert too.
#5
when did the stop making premiums? Must be old stock
#6
program called GOTsent will take your MKV 720p/1080i/1080p video with AC3 audio and turn it into an MP4 Container with the exact same h264 video stream, but it will convert the audio to aac audio.

Then just plug in an USB stick with the video on, or set up your network properly to stream it over just perfect! :)

Bought this mail order from sainsburies 3 weeks ago for same price without a code....
#8
anyone know the manufacture date of these 360s? i thought premiums were not being sold?

and also what is sainburys return policy regarding games consoles?
#9
They still sell these? They stopped making them a while ago. Retailers must have stocked up on tonnes before MS stopped making them.

Yeah but they bumped up the price to £150 when they noticed a sudden surge in people buying them for JTAGing. These consoles are going to be worth a lot more than £140 when the exploitable stock has run dry ;-). I've already seen pre-JTAG'd bare bone 360's sell for near £200 on eBay.

60gb packs were discontinued around summer last year. All stock should be late model Falcon and some will be Jasper. All are exploitable.
#11
Can anyone confirm if this is the older model, meaning the liteon drive which don't require LT Switch, soldering etc?

Thanks
#12
So annoyed, I just ordered one of these the other day at £149.99.

For those of you interested...

As per various threads on other forums these are stock from around July last year when they stopped doing the pro. So it will be exploitable, thats the reason I bought one. Most likely an explitable Jasper or Falcon at worst.

wouldnt you just rather buy an elite from Amazon for £199.99 with 2 games. Sell the 2 games for £50 on Amazon/Play. taking it down to around £150 anyway for a brand new Jasper and a 120gb drive and a nicer colour.

If you want to use the console legitimately anyway.
#14
Yes these are deffo JTAG compatible boxes. These are getting as rare as rocking horse poo so If you want to xperience X360 homebrew jump in now.
#15
Yes was ths price before chrimbo but didn't have these games included.

Interesting. I'm only just scraping the surface of the Xbox360. Will that soft (GOTSent) output to other xbox 360 compatible formats (if there are any) or is that it? Will you onl be able to input mkv's to it?

And will the xbox 360 need a media player to play it back?

Bit confused here, what does JTAG stand for and what does it mean?

Is there an advantage in getting a machine which is not Jasper or Falcon?

Thanks :)

Just go on youtube and search for "360 JTAG homebrew" to get an idea of what it's all about. Once you've done the hack you can run games from external USB drive, FTP into your 360, run homebrew and emulators etc etc. Consoles that have the 8955 version or higher dashboard can no longer do this. Because the exploit was patched way back in summer last year finding consoles to do this on is getting very hard.

Thanks OP!

I think the main reason anybody would buy this console is soley for modding reasons - JTAG. That's the only reason i'm buying one, as someone's already mentioned, these will be pretty hard to find soon.
The new boxes that you speak of for £85 with codes are unable to run homebrew.

That and a lot more !

I'm debating wether to go for one of these to run Lite Touch, the elite I currently have requires soldering etc which I don't wanna do. Expensive if it just leads to a ban though !

Don't waste your time with hacked DVD firmwares. None of them (even LT) are safe. If you do, expect to be banned in the next wave. In other words budget to buy a new 360 every year :p.

+1

I was banned (along with pretty much everyone else) in November. I luckly had a spare legit console which had just been repaired by Microsoft.
I'm using my banned machine for backups on legit for online - i only play on one game online atm though, Modern Warfare.

you're kidding?!
it isnt just a soft mod?
wow people seriously need to develop some decent exploits for the 360!
#28
To play backup games, its only a softmod needed. Homebrew and JTAG is soldering :)
#29
What exactly does jtag'ing allow one to do?

We already have some VERY decent exploits. It's people needing to develop some decent soldering skills that's the problem :p

Ever tried Google and Youtube?, or even reading some of the previous posts in this thread!

Have you ever thought of being helpful

So,

1) Pirating live arcade games?

2) Installing copied 360 games onto HD and playing them without the disc? Using xbr3?

What else would jtag'ing allow? :whistling:

Which of the 4 posts I wrote before answering yours wasn't offering advice and giving info???. If you'd bothered to read what had already been posted then you wouldn't have needed to ask such a simple question.

Homebrew!, If you can run homebrew then the sky's the limit on what you can do. And since you are too lazy to read my previous comment I'll repeat some of the things you can currently do, remove the DRM restraints on all your content, FTP into your 360, monitor GPU/CPU/EDRAM,MOBO temps, control fan speed via software, run emulators for SNES/Megadrive/Master System/MAME, run Gentoo and Debian, run Xell to obtain your CPU and DVD keys, ripping/storing/playing all your games via external USB hard drive, change consoles region. And this is just the beginning, expect a whole lot more such as new codecs for playing .mkv files etc to appear over the coming weeks and months.

Sounds good Tony.... I've ordered one.... I just hope it is exploitable....I heard June 09 is cut off date for exploitable CB.... not a big issue if its not....will just use it for DVD firmware hack....but will look forward to finding one which is exploitable in future.....My soldering skills are non-existant....

So do you have any tips on where to go to get the Jtag stuff done if the xbox 360 found to be exploitable?
#35
Dont be nasty boys, we are all here to help and be helped!

I'm in the same boat as you. I'll be using one of the trader's on xbox-scene - a user called slimgrip does them and is reliable :)

Confused...can't you also pirate games to dvd and or then hard drive? @'live arcade game'.. are there games just fopr the arcade? tbh the sites i've looked at are way too complicated...they don't even explain the basics...just one load of tech speak..
