Cheapest I have seen for a genuine one. Never quite sure with the ones on ebay.

this gets my vote as I've been given the 4GB version from work and was looking at buying an official 250GB one hard drive.

While one can DIY a drive for less, the price saving hardly makes it worth doing.

Heat added.

Quick question.
Got a 40GB Hitachi HDD from the PS3 and the 360 won't recognise it.
Do I need to format the drive first?

If you are trying to plug it in inside the console then it wont work.

Brilliant thanks OP, just bought to go inside my £90 4Gb that I also got from here :-)

£30 isn't worth spending 20 mins of your time?

lol, you need a Western Digital Scorpio 250GB drive, then you need to flash the drive string and security sector on the drive. Then create correct partitions - then you can use it.

Silly question I know, but can this be used in an old fat Arcade xbox?

no

unless you remove the drive from the case, then buy a cheapo xbox 360 hard drive case (old style) from deal extreme and put it inside.

Better off just making your own + buy case. Total cost about £30.

It doesn't feel right buying an xbox 360 accessory and not getting screwed over on price...

No, not really, but...

I'm not sure it's 20 minutes and a £30 saving when you've ordered an enclosure, the drive, taken a PC apart to flash the drive, downloaded and worked out what you need to do, etc. And at the end of all of that, one is not 100% sure that the console won't be banned at some point in the future.

Great price. I'd been thinking about the self flashing option etc but no point at this price.

Replaces the 20gb drive from my old xbox which is held in place by packing foam!
