Key Features
The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player offers stunning video and immersive surround-sound audio, with six times higher resolution than DVD (up to1080p) through a component or VGA connection.
Innovative interactive content capabilities enable picture-in-picture commentary, scene selection and menu access - all while the movie is playing.
Users can enjoy blockbuster HD DVD releases, with more than 150 titles available by the end of 2006 from major movie studios including HBO, Paramount Pictures, StudioCanal, Universal Studios and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
Only HD DVD offers a ¿combo¿ disc: a DVD on one side allows playback on all existing DVD players, in your home or car
the other side is compatible with the HD DVD Player.
The player works seamlessly with your Xbox 360 system, using the system's processing power and audio connections to deliver the highest possible video and sound quality.
Setup is easy: Just plug the HD DVD Player into the USB port on your Xbox 360 console and jump in.

#4
Hope this comes with Kong still ? :)
#5
Good Point! :?

Nice one brum........just placed order. I was on phone to them this morning over another order and asked if these were coming in stock. The operator said if they were showing "Sold Out" (they were), then it would be some time before they got any more.

Order placed :-)

Just need MS to do the flippin' HDMI now.
#7
Thanks, a friend and I have just ordered one.

Fingers crossed for Kong.
#8
i thought about ordering it myself, i just did, if it doesnt come with king kong then so be it, i guess the kong packs wont be coming back in stock.

i telephoned up and asked a rather clueless person ( although to be fare, they are not going to know EVERY product they sell), they just read the description i had infront of me on the pc. i did explain that it must come with at least a remote control, the answer was " it only comes with what it says it comes with".

not much help really as it doesnt even say the usb lead is included.
#9
I just phoned up Customer Services. They believed that the Remote nor King Kong was included.
#10
i have checked the main xbox 360 site and it does not mention anything about kong or a remote! :(
Just have to wait till its delivered... to see!
#11
I ordered one - I already have the media remote so am assuming that it will work with that.
#12
Well I wouldnt listen to them.
The remote is standard. Its only Kong that is temporarily free
#13
I thought so too - my old remote for Ebay if so...
#14
Anyone wanna buy a remote ?
#15
Have just spoken to a knowledgeable person at Play.com- these definately DO NOT come with the DVD of King Kong.

The free king kong dvd was with the first batch released by ms and it got sold out quickly.

Regards
#16
Well, in that case nowhere else will get Kong any more either.

And seeing as I ordered from HMV before it even came out (and it still hasnt arrived)... and for my eagerness I get zilch :(
Given up waiting, so got this instead. I wonder if MS can be persuaded to do the right thing.

Didn't think much of KK anyway so no great loss

It's meant to be a "demo disk" though - that's why it's loss is quite a big deal.

If you look at HD-DVD forums, KK is rated (together with Batman Begins and The Hulk) as one of the best HD-DVD disks out there.

Check out http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=705387

TIER 0- These are simply stunning transfers from beginning to end, nearly flawless

King Kong (U-C)
Hulk (U-C)
Corpse Bride
The Ant Bully (CMB)(THD)

i got it for £2.99 a while ago ( the 2 disk normal dvd), but it would be nice to compare with the hd version to see if my money has been spent wisely.

now to see if places like blockbuster do hd dvd as part of their free trials.

great cheers

Definitely don't go by that if "The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player offers stunning video and immersive surround-sound audio, with six times higher resolution than DVD (up to1080p) through a component or VGA connection" is anything to go by.

AFAIK its only via VGA
#22
Even if it's the best transfer in history with the best sound and extras to boot, if I don't rate the movie then I ain't going to watch it.
#23
their all sold out now...
#24
you wont be able to hear it over the xbox 360 fans anyway! ;)
#25
My brother in law, got the HD DVD with King Kong, and the movie looks shockingly bad, the extra definition makes the computer generated images stand out from the characters and scenery like in a 50's B movie.

Hope other HD DVD don't suffer in this way
#26
just to re-iterate...

availability: Sold Out

:(
#27
One of my mates told me that some stores of PC World have stocks so whoever missed out might like to try ringing. The website seems to indicate they have stock with delivery not available but store collection a possibility.

Good luck

do your homework before posting. neither are standard.
#29
still selling your remote!!!!!! :)
#30
I managed to get my order in before the site showed sold out, however in the outstanding order screen it has now changed from ORDER PLACED to ORDER TAKEN, I have never noticed this before and wondered whether this was the norm on Play? Can anyone shed any light on this? Does everyone elses outstanding order screen say this or has it remained ORDER PLACED?

thats not a good sign - and dont expect them to e-mail you if its not coming!
#35
mine says 'order placed' and was one of the first to order so you should be ok!
#36
So basically the fact that mine says 'ORDER TAKEN' I should not expect this order to go through?
#37
mine said "Order Placed" and then changed straight to "packing" woohoo
#38
just on the remote control

on ebay

ALL uk Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drives being sold, the ones with king kong and without, coe with the remote control, either a very very big coincidence, or they come with the universal remote as standard.

The irony.... do your homework before posting??

Perhaps you should take your own advice.

Read the official xbox blurb
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360hddvdplayer/

The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player (available November 2006) comes with the Universal Pictures' blockbuster film Peter Jackson's King Kong on HD DVD (for a limited time) and the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote.
