£66 for new set of toner??
#2
How good a printer are these and are they a viable replacement for an inkjet? I have an old canon mp360 which uses very cheap compatibles so wondering what sort of output you get per full toner. I see you can refil them too for about 50 quid or a bit more for compatibles.

I have no experience of this printer, but note the price of the new toners:

Black: £40
Cyan: £32
Magenta: £32
Yellow: £32

(I found this on one web site, other web sites may have other prices)

Got this last time:thumbsup: Got my Toner last week:-D

how long do you think it will last on one set of toners compared to a set of inkjet carts? My wife does a fair bit of printing as she is a teacher with a fair few colour prints too

£66 for new set of toner??

Not sure where you got £66 from.

It has one black and 3 color toners and the Insight web site shows a pack of all 4 at £132 plus VAT.

Generally laser printers are cheaper on a cost per page basis than ink jets.

If your wife does a lot of printing then a laser printer will be better.

If you scroll down the page for the printer on Insight it says the black lasts 2,000 pages, the colour 1,000 pages each.

Thanks for that.

Is this deffo the N version as there is also a B version that is not network ready? Oh an my order seems to come to £63.44?

Yes, it's the Network version.

Yes, it's the Network version.

Cool. I am just trying to work out if it will work out loads more expensive than out inkjet. It only costs £14 for 10 colours and 10 blacks delivered. It does waste a lot through cleaning though as it is old now and always needs cleaning. So the laser will prob cost more to run but the reliability may make it better. Not sure at all.
#12
Though it seems a very good deal, I will stick to the inkjet until it dies as it is costing more like 1.5p a print with the ink being so cheap for this old model.

Apologies, can a mod change the price, it should indeed be £63.44

also have a hp7210 inkjet which occassionally used for printing/faxing/photos but mainly copying

Right guys - this printer IS the Samsung CLP-300N in a different box!

It will most likely accept Inkrite toner carts! These cost about £10 per colour cart, and about £13 for the black!

http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=inkrite+clp&btnG=Search+Products&show=dd&scoring=p

And with one free toner cart anyway; you'd be a FOOL not to buy it now! :)

Oh - and as for Duplex printing....the drivers handle that very well. You select double sided prints, wait for the first side to print, then remove the papers and reinsert them as you find them (without fiddling with orientation); press the single "function" button at the top of the printer to tell it to print the other side without needing to get back to your computer!

the only prob with this printer are:-
1) standards carts are a pitiful black 2000 pages, colour ones are 1000 pages (most lasers are min 3000/4000 pages, my samsung takes carts of 4000 or 7000), but the free cart makes up for this
2) pretty slow at 16pages per min black and 4 for colour

just to clarify if its not clear..you get the following with the printer...
Consumables Included 1 x toner cartridge ( black ) - up to 1500 pages
1 x toner cartridge ( cyan ) - up to 700 pages
1 x toner cartridge ( magenta ) - up to 700 pages
1 x toner cartridge ( yellow ) - up to 700 pages
1 x waste toner collector - up to 5000 pages
1 x intermediate transfer unit - up to 20000 pages

if you send off proof of purchase you get a free mono toner but DOESNT SAY capacity so could be a 700 page toner????...

It's the Network (LAN) functionality that's very good on this - if you just want a single printer for a single PC buy a £20 inkjet with cheapo refills. Marked hot from me as a colour network laser so our 3 laptops and big PC can all print easily.
#23
review here is not overly favourable and user review less so.....seems fine for what you get but print quality is bad
http://reviews.cnet.com/laser-printers/xerox-phaser-6110n-color/4505-3159_7-32148596.html

as with any network printer i usually set mine with a static ip address - saves minor hassles with dynamic ip addressing eg if you disconnect network kit

Im looking for a cheap (and cheap to run) black and white printer for printing off journal articles. Anybody have any suggestions?
#32
Rimmer, if it's just black and white documents you are going to be printing then go for a the Samsung ML2240. Ebuyer have them for £42 inc vat! http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148076
#33
Just bought one - total inc VAT and £4.99 delivery: £63.44

Don't forget the form to claim your free toner:

Ordered one of these on Tuesday (4th November) and it arrived today Thursday (6th November) at 11:00.

I must say just over £60 for a colour laser which is network ready is a geat deal.

Just ordered one. Thanks! H&R
#37
Just ordered. Fingers crossed it suits my purposes. My main requirement is for printing my boarding passes when checking in online 3 or 4 times per week! :-)

It said 1 in stock before I ordered and even after receiving confirmation it still says 1 in stock!

Note: The price on the title of this offer is still wrong. Should be £63.44 incl delivery.
#38
Insight's stock system is rubbish, it only reduces the number on the site when it's been packed/shipped so you might be in for a wait...
#39
Right a couple of things.

Network ready, I assume this is wired ethernet. Not wireless????

Also re the carts.

I have boxes and boxes of old Canon Colour Laser toner, so I would buy if I could refill using this stuff..

I assume you have to use a "hot ring" (Not something you have the day after a vindaloo) to make the hole, and a way of sealing it??? Also, I assume the carts have a chip on, so how do you bypass this...

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Just noticed the link coming up as item "Discontinued"?

yes its ethernet, if you need wireless either buy a wireless printer or you can connect it via an ethernet cable to a wireless device such as print server, access point or maybe if you have a spare wireless router (for the latter, do a yehoo/google search how to do this)
